    written instructions:
    *For the hat*:
    1. find the circumference of your head
    2. make a slip knot with 2 strands of yarn and begin chaining until you reach the length that you measured before. However, make sure your total number of chains ends in an even number.
    row 1: chain 1, turn your work over, skip the first chain, and place a double crochet into the back loop as shown in the video @ 4:06
    row 2: switch colors, chain 1, flip over your work, and double crochet into each stitch. Weave in the ends as you crochet. Repeat row 2 till your desired length or until it's about 6 inches.
    3. fold your work in half horizontally and slip stitch the ends together. Once you reach the end, turn and begin slip stitching the other side. Then cast off.
    4. Turn inside out
    5. starting from the side that you slip stitched, insert your hook and chain 1, then from the front insert your hook into the first stitch and double crochet. For the next insert your hook from the back and double crochet. Continue this pattern till you have reached your first double crochet. Cast off. You can watch this step here: 14:08
    6. find the end of your eyebrows in relation to the hat, the stitch from where your eyebrow end will be the start of the ear flaps. Count the stitches from there to where we cast off, then you'll want to make that count stay consistent on all sides of the hat. Alternatively, your earflap will consist of 5 stitches on the front and back of the hat for each flap.
    row 1: attach your yarn, chain 2, double crochet till you reach the slip stitch. However, many stitches you double crocheted for the front, repeat the amount for the back.
    row 2: chain 2, skip the first stitch as shown in the video and double crochet till you get to your remaining 2 stitches. For the last 2, yarn over put your hook into the stitch, and pull through, yarn over again, insert the hook into the second stitch, and pull through 2 loops. This leaves you with 3 loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through the 3.
    7. Continue decreasing until you are left with 2 stitches then chain 1 and cast off.
    8. Repeat steps 5-7 on the other side.
    9. Starting from the tip of one of your ear flaps, attach your yarn and chain 1. On the side of each double crochet stitch place 2 single crochets. Continue till you reach the end of the ear flap and the beginning of the hat. Instead of placing 2 single crochets for the lining, place 1 single crochet for each. When you reach the next ear flap, you'll want to place 2 single crochets like before until you reach the last 2 stitches (near your cast off line). For the last 2 place single crochets. Turn and complete the previous steps for the other side of the hat.
    10. For the heart make a magic ring, chain 1. Into the magic ring do a single crochet, half double crochet, treble crochet, quadruple crochet then chain 3. Place a slip stitch into the magic ring. Chain 4 then you'll do the same stitches on the other side, but in the opposite order. So, quadrupled, treble, double, half double and single crochet. Pull the yarn as shown in the video, chain 2 and slip stitch into the first single crochet stitch. Cast off.
    11. To attach the heart to the hat, choose either the top or bottom of the heart, then insert your hook attach the yarn, and make single crochets to your desired length. When attaching the heart to the hat, find a place on the ear flap to insert in, make a slip stitch, and cast off.

    question: After you're done the first line do you then put it around your head to measure it

    • @priyacrochets
      @priyacrochets  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes or you can measure the circumference of your head first, or better still use the measurement guide if you don’t have a tape and deduct 2inches

    am i doing it wrong if my work starts curling/ruffling up ?

    • @priyacrochets
      @priyacrochets  Před 2 měsíci

      No you ain’t
      It’s your tension it’s too tight. You can reduce your tension or continue working it will even out when you get to your 5th row❤️

    • @priyacrochets
      @priyacrochets  Před 2 měsíci

      Another hack is to make your chains with a bigger hook, then downsize for the dcs
      (For example you can make your foundation chains with 6mm hook and make your rows of dcs with a 5mm hook)
      I hope this helps ❤️

      Medium weight yarn. I used a 5ply milk cotton yarn and doubled it
