I like Itachi more but Minato edges him out in a duel imo. However, I think there are many things that are either omitted or not taken into consideration when discussing the two. 1: While Itachi did have the second greatest Chunin exam scores (Minato first place), he did so at a younger age. On top of this, Itachi had the fastest time to complete the forest of death, without any teammates to back him up. 2: As mentioned in the video; age gap and illness should play a large role in the discussions as well. Minato heavily argued to have been stronger. However, he is also much older than Itachi and never suffered illness. Both Shinobi went out early (Itachi at 21, Minato at 24). Although, to compare both Shinobi, it's a little unfair granted Itachi's trajectory leading up to his illness between ages 13 - 17 was higher than that of Minato. Minato had a longer lifespan, and no illness. Imo I think what I mentioned is important for any Itachi vs (character) debate, especially Minato.

I think this match up is a really tough call. Both have very high battle intelligence and have the abilities to negate and overcome the other. Sasuke vs Raikage was one of the comparison we got on speed vs sharingan. Guy vs Kakashi is another speed vs sharingan match up. I think ultimately speed factors greatly in defeating a sharingan user. And I would agree that Minato would have the edge over Itachi.
This encounter could go either way. Both of them have almost real chances and can win against each other, in my opinion I think that their encounter will be quite unpredictable. For me Itachi has slightly better chances of winning because of his calmness, intelligence and battle IQ experience. In my opinion Itachi is one of the most Unique and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just any ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series xD) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick than most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can they even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totsuka Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️ 🤷🏻♂️

My top 2 characters going toe to toe 🙌. Both of them had potential for days beyond anything I've ever seen. Minato really had to be sacrificed in order for the story to develop and take shape because had he not die he would have prevented a lot of stuff from happening.
From my 3rd to 4th year in college I was Minato + Sakura. Minato because I was finishing 2hrs exams in 42 minutes and still hitting 97/100. One time I saw 101/100 because the grades were curved. My 1 hour Mid term speed was 17 minutes . Everybody was always looking at me like they had seen a ghost when leaving the exam hall. One time even the professor asked if I was okay. On the other hand, I was Sakura because I loved a girl who was performing really terrible academically, but never loved me in return. One day after checking her test results she yelled at me at the passage way, I ran away! She started laughing real hard when she saw me running. In the end, we talked normally and never dated each other , even when she knew that I was the one that was hurt. I did everything to stop her from failing including sending my assignment solutions, keeping seats for her in class if possible, sharing my resources and intelligence etc. But I doubt she copied anything I sent her. Good old days...

Just a reminder itachi was 6 when he took on his exams early, while minato was 10, I can't stress the difference between a 6 and a 10 year old, especially since itachi at 10 solo'd the chunnin exams with record time.

Itachi was too weak to kill of the uchiha police fighting force, so he asked obito to help him and made a deal together. Itachi got all the children, women, families, and normal civilians while obito easily handaled all the elite uchiha police force members. Then he had itachi work under him as a akatsuki jinjuriki hunter who did all of his missions perfectly, as long as obito didnt attack the leaf. So Obito never went against his part of the deal as long as itachi was alive, because itachi was such as valuable member and didn't want to waste his time and energy fighting him. When Itachi died, he launched his plan and also manipulated his younger brother, who was itachi's everything.

Well in an interview Masashi Kishimoto said that Minato never trained on Mount Myoboku and what is seen in the anime is merely Pierrot filler and if they give as an example the Sage Mode to justify that he learned it there this is also discarded after the interview since it was said that he learned it and perfected it by himself by seeing Jiraiya use it and he learned it by training with Gamabunta, Gamaken and Gamahiro on the outskirts of Konoha

Because his teleportation makes it impossible for sharingan to keep track(that was the original purpose of flying raijin to begin with), so as long as minato keeps flicking here and there, itachi can neither use amaterasu nor tsukuyomi, and if minato was able to use sage mode, i believe he might even be able to break through itachi's susanoo(avoiding the mirror and sword)

@@avernus5918 that is true but only at the start of battle. Itachi will have to actively make sire that minato never goes around him in the battle field. Neither minato nor his kunai. As long every single mark of minato is within itachi's field of vision, he can react and defend. But itachi cannot see behind his head. If the entire battle field got scattered with kunai's(like with sasuke vs itachi) or if minato managed to run around the field marking spots, itachi would be at a major disadvantage. So minato has to hold on until he has enough markers in all four directions, after that all he has to do is mix in attacks from front and back. From front itachi can see minato but it will still cause him some trouble tracking minato even with sharingan. But behind the back where he cannot use the amazing perception of sharingan, he ll be open to attacks. And itachi so far doesnt have many tricks to defend his back other than susanoo(and that too if itachi can react in time). Thats the thing with minato, the more time he stays on battle field, the more annoying he gets in a 1 v 1 fight. It will keep getting harder for itachi to keep track of minato once more of his markers are placed. So if itachi can beat minato immediately at the start of battle(which is noy likely as minato himself is very smart and he has been known to be good friends wiyh fugaku..meaning he knows how to fighy against sharingan atleast), he would win...but if the battle lasts a little longer...minato can win by a landslide(I am sorry i love itachi too but i dont think he can win). Plus if A can escape amaterasu Minato can definitely avoid it(afterall amaterasu isnt exactly superfast or instantaneos)

Both have very high battle intelligence and have the abilities to negate and overcome the other.

This encounter could go either way. Both of them have almost real chances and can win against each other, in my opinion I think that their encounter will be quite unpredictable. For me Itachi has slightly better chances of winning because of his calmness, intelligence and battle IQ experience. In my opinion Itachi is one of the most Unique and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just any ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series xD) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick than most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can they even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totsuka Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️ 🤷🏻♂️

From my 3rd to 4th year in college I was Minato + Sakura. Minato because I was finishing 2hrs exams in 42 minutes and still hitting 97/100. One time I saw 101/100 because the grades were curved. My 1 hour Mid term speed was 17 minutes . Everybody was always looking at me like they had seen a ghost when leaving the exam hall. One time even the professor asked if I was okay. On the other hand, I was Sakura because I loved a girl who was performing really terrible academically, but never loved me in return. One day after checking her test results she yelled at me at the passage way, I ran away! She started laughing real hard when she saw me running. In the end, we talked normally and never dated each other , even when she knew that I was the one that was hurt. I did everything to stop her from failing including sending my assignment solutions, keeping seats for her in class if possible, sharing my resources and intelligence etc. But I doubt she copied anything I sent her. Good old days...

Obito made him unlock his sharingan and killed his friends/girlfriend.
Itachi was too weak to kill of the uchiha police fighting force, so he asked obito to help him and made a deal together. Itachi got all the children, women, families, and normal civilians while obito easily handaled all the elite uchiha police force members.
Then he had itachi work under him as a akatsuki jinjuriki hunter who did all of his missions perfectly, as long as obito didnt attack the leaf. When Itachi died, he launched his plan and also manipulated his younger brother, who was itachi's everything.

So basically they are pretty much relative to eachother with Minato having little edge . Nonetheless Minato is one of the strongest kage to ever live and Itachi pretty much on same page as him supports how good he is

i believe minato can beat itachi in any battle. Because his teleportation makes it impossible for sharingan to keep track(that was the original purpose of flying raijin to begin with), so as long as minato keeps flicking here and there, itachi can neither use amaterasu nor tsukuyomi, and if minato was able to use sage mode, i believe he might even be able to break through itachi's susanoo(avoiding the mirror and sword)
I agree but you are forgetting that Minato has to throw Kunai in order to teleport. And throwing the Kunais takes time, which no enemy would give Minato
@@avernus5918 that is true but only at the start of battle. Itachi will have to actively make sire that minato never goes around him in the battle field. Neither minato nor his kunai. As long every single mark of minato is within itachi's field of vision, he can react and defend. But itachi cannot see behind his head. If the entire battle field got scattered with kunai's(like with sasuke vs itachi) or if minato managed to run around the field marking spots, itachi would be at a major disadvantage. So minato has to hold on until he has enough markers in all four directions, after that all he has to do is mix in attacks from front and back. From front itachi can see minato but it will still cause him some trouble tracking minato even with sharingan. But behind the back where he cannot use the amazing perception of sharingan, he ll be open to attacks. And itachi so far doesnt have many tricks to defend his back other than susanoo(and that too if itachi can react in time).
Thats the thing with minato, the more time he stays on battle field, the more annoying he gets in a 1 v 1 fight. It will keep getting harder for itachi to keep track of minato once more of his markers are placed. So if itachi can beat minato immediately at the start of battle(which is noy likely as minato himself is very smart and he has been known to be good friends wiyh fugaku..meaning he knows how to fighy against sharingan atleast), he would win...but if the battle lasts a little longer...minato can win by a landslide(I am sorry i love itachi too but i dont think he can win). Plus if A can escape amaterasu Minato can definitely avoid it(afterall amaterasu isnt exactly superfast or instantaneos)
