I'm from Madeira, I used to fish this waters on my young years, abundance of fish back then with just hand line and a few hooks (no fancy rods), sometimes with a long bamboo stick. never a dull day, there's plenty of affordable gear nowadays but sadly no fish as we clearly see on your video .... Thanks for posting Sir

Thanks for that GP, as usual you help to keep my sanity whilst I am shielded, my wife is at work managing a GP surgery, my eldest lad is at work in the met police, my youngest is at work as a chippy in Bracknell and I am here trying to make conversation with a lab and a westie.
Anyway, get your self down to Green park in Reading, Longwater lakes.....fantastic fishing...day ticket facility, cold water and toilets available, there is even a cafe open to the public.....the whole place is manicured as if you were in a national trust property with benches and rubbish bins everywhere and the swims are very sturdy and well built, the pike fishing on No 1 lake is to be envied but there are many other species to be had and the most elusive are the "doctor fish" the tenches, they seem to be very wise to anglers.
    Please keep those videos coming.

From about 10.35 to 10.50 is indeed what you guessed - Cod. Known throughout Portugal (where I live) as Bacalhau. Dried salted cod, almost all of which is Norwegian.
To me it is a waste of good fish. No doubt necessary in the past before refrigeration, but it needs soaked for a very long time to regain some moisture, and it never loses enough salt. Many Portuguese, and some foreigners, rave about it. Give me fresh anytime in preference to this.

@@wings06 As I said many people, including non Portuguese do rave about it. I have tried it a few times because trying something once is not enough to form a fair opinion. Three days with several water changes makes it a non starter for me. There are a few foods I do not like - curry for starters. I eat a lot and prefer fresh meat, fish, vegetables and many fruits all without seasoning so that I can taste the items I am eating. It is invariably accompanied and complemented by Portuguese wines, both table and fortified.

Very dodgy place to land a plane , I think pilots actually have to have extra training and exam before they can land there.🤔 never fished there but there’s a great golf course close by. Sea food is quite spectacular 👍👍 if you watch the Portuguese build a house you would be quite shocked how thick the roof is. Under the visible tiles there are many layers including a concrete one and another of insulation. It does keep the heat out in the Summer and in during the winter. Madeira can be quite cold and wet during the winter . Just looked at all your great merchandise, maybe a boat sticker could be addition one day ?
