  • In this video, I am reviewing the newest feature for the Pixel 8 Pro, Video Boost. There was plenty of hype about this feature when #Google announced it before the #Pixel8 release. How much of a difference does #VideoBoost make in the final product? Was it worth the wait?

Nice video, thank you. I agree it would be nice to have the boosted result direct, but seeing how the results are even better than the iPhone, it is easily worth it. 99% of my videos are for memories anyway (for consumption in the future). If I need a video for instant sharing, the normal video is easily good enough. Video boost is not perfect yet though, I do think it brings out the shadows a little too much. And I would like a way to automatically get rid of all 1080p cover (preview) videos. I hope Google will supply such an option in the near future.

said it before and will say it again, this is the most stupid feature I have ever seen, the video it uploads to the cloud is super big in size, and at first I thought they were uploading a RAW video or at least a Prores 4:2:2 video to the cloud to work on it, but after closer inspection I saw the files and its just an regular 4:2:0 video with a higher bitrate, after the chroma subsampling has been done thats it, you have throw out all the quality out of the window, there is nothing that can be done other than some ridiculous AI shinanigans to make the video look artificial af. android brands need to hire a true video maker to tell then how video cameras should work because they are going the wrong way.

The results are not as good as the iPhone and the Samsung Ultra.
