It would have been nice to actually see more of the the apartment.
I love how she said," Homes should allow you to be the person you want to be." This resonates with me. I completely agree. Our family home provides a lifestyle in keeping with our hobbies and activities but also with our values. She found a gem of an apartment for her family!
I wish these videos were longer. They are so short and I’d love to see more of all the homes 🏡 😀
I like the idea of having fabric over the back of a bed and then switching out
This wasn't a house tour. It was a series of severely cropped video glimpses of selected sections of a much larger apartment. Where are basic establishing shots of each room showing the entire space. Where was video showing how the different rooms flowed into each other. Please rethink how you film and edit your "house tours" in the future.
Really rude man. Good thing she doesent need your 2cents worth
Ruth Goddard I made no reference to Sophie (whose style I liked and wished was bettered served by the video). My comments were directed to the videographer and creative director at AT.
@@greglesniak9951 yeah whatever. It still sounded rude
Ruth Goddard you sound so upset, Sophie is that you? Lol he’s right either way.
@@Humaima i just dont like rude people who yjink they are important
Two curtains in the bath! Yes! I love how it frames it so beautifully - especially with the pom poms! 😊
My grandmother and aunt lived in these buildings across the street from one another. I spent much of my childhood in these co-ops and it’s beautiful to see how she’s brought a contemporary design to them. Thank you for sharing!!
I love the idea of a straight headboard and changing out the drape seasonally.
This was an apartment tour tease. Why couldn't it be longer so we could actually see the entire apartment!
I like the hanging up two curtains I think that's a great idea and I've never seen in any of the homes that I have visited
I thought the same thing... but then thought that my husband would probably find a way to get water all over the bathroom this way lol
@@sleepnbeau823 used a clear shower liner, drape it to one side and when someone showers pull it across...you will need to install a second shower rod for the liner though...but I mentioned a clear see through liner because it's not very noticeable draped over behind the curtain 👍
I love that she said that it was so big because it is 1200 square feet. So many people thing that’s a small space and I think it’s a perfect size.
I got caught up with the 80% of the floor needs to be covered with rugs. Then the light went on!! It's cuz it's quieter for the people below!!! ahhhh Thanks for sharing your home it's such a calm space.
that's very thoughtful of them, especially when you're living below a family with young kids, you'll lose a bit of sanity.
But what does it have to do with the building being a coop? I didn't get that part.
@@lsamoa Because they have rules you have to follow if you buy into a coop building, just like a condo. There's an upside and downside to it.
@@TheDriftwoodlover To me it sounds always like a downside. They can always vote to kick you out, I would be scared to brake any rules or to make any loud noise in my OWN house.
@@moonbeeps if you want to be loud & play loud music you probably need to houseshare with likeminded people under 40 who don't have kids to get to sleep or need to get up early for work the next day😁.Most apartment blocks are made up of people who are in those two situations.
So nice. The courtyard is to live for. I think one could endure much in an apartment to have a courtyard like that. Very good thinking.
Curtains as shower curtain is a lovely idea. So many possibilities there.
They must take forever to dry and get mouldy pretty quick though
The wonderful interior private for residents garden truly make this into a residence that you would be reluctant to ever move.
lovely.. all the subtle colours flowing together make each room all the more personal/ specific. the courtyard must be such a beaut to get to enjoy.. and the airiness that flows through the apartment.. i wonder how it is at night? Lovely showcase.
I absolutely love this space. I also really enjoy House Beautiful. It's one of the few magazines I still subscribe to.
00:46 that AOC candle
Barf. That candle would do a better job in Congress than AOC herself. Socialism has killed over 100 million people in the last 100 years, and only an ignorant fool would vote a socialist into power. Like AOC? Go move to Venezuela and enjoy eating your own pets to survive. A few short years ago, before socialism was implemented, Venezuela was the wealthiest country in South America. Not anymore.
Miss Megan okay boomer
@@eyafaer Okay, mental midget. It's clear from your writing that you lack the mental capacity. Good luck in life.
@@missmegan3694 enjoy capitalism while it lasts. 🤪
@@eyafaer Lol! Get a clue, commie. Capitalism has done more to eradicate poverty worldwide than any other economic system. And I'm not a baby-boomer, cupcake; you only assumed I was because I'm so much more knowledgable than you are and can actually form a sentence. Gen Z is proving to be more conservative than previous generations because the moronic hypocrisy, Marxist agenda, and self-loathing anti-Americanism idiocy of millenials is insane. Now, get a job and support yourself - no one owes you a thing, you entitled asshat.
I wouldnt have chosen the colors that she used but she made it work anyway and that is the sign of a good eye.
Looks very lived in. A proper home.
I love the fact she lives in Jackson Heights!
Gorgeous apartment!
Such a lovely and meaningful home.
love this video so much
where in the world can I find that AOC candela? Gorgeous ❤
i've heard they're really easy to find in NYC, like at bodegas and things. if you're not in NYC, i bet they're on the internet somewhere
Amazing!
I loved !
I love it!
love it and your style... comes from your experience! where did you get your shower 'curtains?'
So well spoken. It really reminded me of a nice well ordered suburban home.
I love her home❤️
Very nice especially because the price of that co/op is probably close to or over a million dollars. Very exclusive in the middle of Jackson Hts. Queens
3mins and 23secs of my quarantine life I will never get back where was the tour? She owe me.
Lovely
I saw a crib, where’s baby? She had a spare bedroom in the back she said but the boy was running in the yard, where’s his room? Gonna try the material over the headboard! Anyway, liked the place, calming colors. The lovely colored couch was the BOMB
Prob screaming, so edited out I'd guess!
She is giving her children privacy. You don't need to see where her son sleeps nor do you need to see her baby!!

That AOC candle tho
I peeped that... Love it!
Cute house
A hell to clean 😂😂😂
The interior is great but when i see the outside blocks....ouch, pretty like the benefit house for low income family in our area. NYC crazy city.
What kind of fabric on the sofa?
That's what us native New Yorkers call 'The Projects'.
I wondered when I saw her outside..... I was like.... was that a project in the past???
@@makeupunlimited No mistaking that's the projects. I grew up in these but in Brooklyn. These look exactly like every other NYCHA complex. And after seeing this video I can't help but wonder if the same will happen to the rest of the projects in all the boroughs. Displacement at its finest. It was difficult to enjoy the design and decor of her apartment knowing what that building once was.
@@hellokidazer Those aren't and never were the projects. Curbed has a really good article about the creation of Jackson Heights and these types of buildings. Here's an excerpt though: "Unlike Ebenezer Howard, whose Garden Cities removed people from the urban core, Thomas was building a Garden City-within-a-city, to balance the desire for open space with the needs of a New York commuter. The building was an instant hit, and over the next few years Wells and Thomas separately designed Hampton Court, Elm Court, Hawthorne Court, Laburnum Court, Cambridge Court, the Chateau, the Towers, and Spanish Gardens. Wells’s buildings, such as Hampton Court, tended to be more elaborate with grander facades; Thomas’s emphasized interior garden space. As is true with many planned communities, living in Jackson Heights was like being a member of a club-right down to the nine-hole golf course the Queensboro Corporation built for the enjoyment of residents. And like any country club, access to Jackson Heights was limited."
@@makeupunlimited Definitely not. Article about Jackson Heights & Garden Cities: ny.curbed.com/2017/4/19/15328342/jackson-heights-queens-history
@@irikidzai so... pricey projects for the privileged *shrug* must have the same architect as NYCHA
The tree looks like a dracaena, not a palm. I’ve got some in my garden.
Nice colours and ideas. But why are things and flowers on those books? I do not like totaly impractical design. Books are for reading
I hate books. For me it's just for decoration. I buy books by colors.
@@nemanjaras Why you do buy them at all if you hate them ?
@@saammmy7 for decoration
0:55 Why do you need to cover 80% of floor with rugs as Coop building?
Not sure but probably for noise prevention for your neighbours

Freaking gorgeous.
Ummmm....so where can I get that leather Hippo? @ 3:11
I've seen something similar before! Search for Reiners originals
Whow
Goin to copy the 2 🚿curtain idea!!🛀
seems like the projects and they gentrified them in to "co-ops".
I thought I was the only one thinking this.
they were not projects. i grew up in JH, they have always been coops and most have interior gardens. many are landmarked.
Seriously, those do not AT ALL resemble lower-income housing. I am not saying this as an insult. Look at the detail work and then look at buildings that have been put up for lower-income residents. There are big differences (I lived in lower-income housing and although adequate, looked NOTHING like this co-op).
too many stuff
That Herman Eames chair in the living room 😍
Herman Miller / Charles & Ray Eames
@@Eli_B3000 Mashed them together 🤣 Meant Eames
@@deneshae No worries, I was just adding in case anyone wanted to find one.
Does co-op mean that it's cheaper ??
Alison Jones it means each apartment bought in the building, the owner of the apartment has part ownership in the building.
They are cheaper but more difficult to get into because you need to be approved by the co-op’s board
@JONES Good question. I would like to know as well....
its short for cooperative apartments. you buy shares int eh building and they give you an apartment. contrary to popular belief you do not own the actual apartment, you own shares. they have a board, who approves shareholders and a bunch of rules for shareholders. it can be a pain if you enter into the wrong building.
THIS WAS NOT " a house Tour ", it was scattered shots of rooms, with barely a REAL glimpse of the design of the rooms, no kitchen was included and a lot of talking about herself.
If the premise / idea is to showcase Apartments/ Homes ...this severely missed the mark. I've Notice that a lot of people don't like constructive criticism on CZcams so if you want to respond to me telling me that I'm rude that's OK it's called " Constructive Criticism ", people ....I guess so many in this day and age just do not understand that concept, and don't want to hear anything but " Oooos and Ahhhs "....but since I'm going on 70 years young... I do understand it.
1200 sq. ft.....nice size

Megan Markel?! Quirky...
only bathroom
Just my opinion, I am surprised she works for a home decor mag.
Me too. It's very old fashioned decor wise . I think she was going for French shabby chic..but I could be wrong.
I have done some design and I didn't like this at all. One table just had random pieces on it, not curated, it looked like a garage sale table. The colors and styles clash to me, and I like nearly everything on this channel for the most part. Not knowing the date, I wound have guessed this was early 2000s decor. The bookshelf was a mess, at least turn some to attempt to look styled and not just stuffed in there. If we were doing a design review class, I'd give this a C. Good attempt, poor colors and arrangements. It looks expensive and clean, but a huge miss for me.
Too many ideas in this space. A mishmash of items forced to work in a space. You can be an editor, but that doesn’t translate into great style 😬
Curtains in the bathroom! Makes the space look smaller and doesn't seem practical with water...
Another house tour that doesn't actually tour the house
Looks too cluttered with knickknacks and there's not much actual design. I've seen much better by people who are not even design professionals.
agreed.
Too much talking
Just looks super cluttered and a mish mash of too many ideas.
