- Sometimes the hardest part about job hunting is not knowing who or where to send your CV to! Let me help you with that. Here's a list of companies that are always hiring and have a fairly diverse selection of roles to choose from. You can start with their career's portals but also make sure to use other job-hunting platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, etc... cos some of these companies don't always post everything on their own portals...weird, I know.

So I've had my eye on Amazon for a while, but I didn't know banks also need a fair amount of tech skills. Although now that I've seen your vid it makes a lot of sense. I wonder what its like working as a software engineer for a bank.
I've always wondered that too hey. My best guess is that they use their developers for developing their systems, internal tools, banking apps, etc instead of outsourcing to a solutions company.
Also banks use engineers for data analysis , for instance analysis Twitter data (python)

There is definitely a demand! However, it's hard for me to speak much on how women are treated... but from my own experience from the companies I've worked at, and some of my lady friends who I've worked with, it sounds like it largely depends on the company you end up in. There is a good number of relatively new tech companies in SA (start-ups, small businesses, etc) and these tend to have a more progressive and inclusive cultures. You will be more likely to end up with like-minded people. Ladies that I work with (at Amazon) love it here 😊. I think it's better to do research with the specific companies you are interested in and also take advantage of the interview to learn more about the company.

The demand is definitely there if you have the necessary skills. However, it's very hard for me to make a judgement on how black women are treated. From my own observations from the companies I've worked with and my lady friends who are in tech, I think it largely depends on the company you end up with. A good number of tech start-ups are relatively young and are more likely to have a fairly progressive culture that respects women...while some don't do much to create safe spaces for women (more like a boy's club typa thing). I think it's best to do research on the specific companies you are interested in and if possible, speak to some ladies there (and in the tech field in general) about their experiences.
