    Thank you very much for the excellent explanation of the disassembly and assembly of the Waterpik Water Flosser. It would be impossible for me to do this battery replacement. Congratulations!! Thank you very much!

    I get it. Waterpik does not want most people to be able to recharge the batteries but continue to buy new ones! Never seen one almost impossible to replace the batteries!

    Would it kill Waterpik to make these things with batteries that are designed to be replaceable?

    It would have been cooler if you'd replaced the Ni-MH batteries with some lithium cells and the power port with a USB-C connector and a charge controller. The battery life would be much longer and you could charge it off any USB-PD charger.

    I haven't bought one of these yet, am thinking of it. But, I wanted to say looks great! I had to do the same, but to my Waterpik toothbrush. The one I have they stopped selling a few years ago, and I managed to find a video online showing how to change the battery in a very similar one (same brand, same head, just a slightly different body - newer model). I was ecstatic I was able to change the battery because I've never had a better toothbrush, and I really didn't want to have to replace it with their newest models. (Newest models require one to buy the water flosser with the toothbrush, and I already have a non-cordless water flosser, don't need another. Very annoying.) Anyway, thanks for the video!

    Without the tabs you can use "de solder braid" for the tabs.It's available at Radio Shack.

    The power button on my daughter's just decided to stop working. Luckily we had another electric toothbrush our dentist gave us as a Christmas preset about 10 years ago. LOL. Never used it. Charging up now. I wanna fix the waterfloss incase this one stops working. (it really shouldn't). She needs to use it to clean her braces (which should be coming off in 2 more years tops I hope)
    Cannot find a video to try to fix the power button though.

    Hi Arron, found your page after my batteries died after about 9 months. Unit may have been on store shelf a while. My hygienist said these units do not have enough power especially when batteries start to go. So I was thinking to increase battery voltage, but charger is only 3 volts. Also don't know how much voltage the DC motor can take. Looking at a lithium ion battery replacement. More life in them. Provided no water leaks it should be better. Did you consider this? Also going to see if a double A two battery holder will fit into unit. Then it's a wire to wire solder connection. Agree batteries should be much easier to replace.

    Great job Aaron. What is that brown liquid you call flox you use before soldering? Thank you.

    • @aaronsrose
      @aaronsrose  Před rokem

      Howdy! Flux is a light acid that allows the solder to flow better into the joints. I think it also help clean the connections a bit.

    Can I use 4/5AA 1500mAh? I've checked the amazon link and it's 1300 mAh. But it doesn't available in my country, only 1500 mAh, is that okay? Thank you.

    Hi! I have the exact same watepik and i accidentally burned the charger (it was for 110 voltios and i plugged it on a 220 voltios). Do you happen to know how may i charge it with some other charger? a friend of mine told me to grab a mobile charger and weld it with the waterpik original cable, do you see that as an option? thanks in advanced!

    • @aaronsrose
      @aaronsrose  Před 4 lety +2

      Hmmmm. If you can find a charger that outputs the same amperage and voltage and then get the wires hooked up, I'd bet it would work. Alternately, there may be aftermarket ones available online. Good luck! Thanks!

    It looks as your 4/5 batteries are smaller than the original ones which makes me think that the original may be regular rechargeable 1.2 volts AA easier to find and up to 2300 mha capacity. Great video, got to replace the batteries in mine. Thanks!

    • @RaymondLohengrin
      @RaymondLohengrin Před 4 lety

      I replaced the batteries in mine, they hold the charge and work for a whole week. I used a pair of AA 2300 mha batteries.

      Hi Raymond
      I just measured mine with a vernier... 49mm. So they are actually full size AA. There is maybe 55mm space in there. Not looked if there is anything bigger we could fit though

    I don't think that this is the first time you disassembled the unit after a year as it appears clean on the inside. I opened it up after 6 months, and the inside is disgusting. All coated with Black mold and other disgusting matter. This is a health hazard.
