Thank you so much, my waterpik was looking very grimy and I didn’t know the water reserve part came off. It’s now clean again after a good clean
A good guide on cleaning the waterpik water flosser to make it last for years! Awesome! 😁👍🏻
Well if it isn’t the man himself, Tristan you never fail to keep us happy. 😉
I agree with MrMnnn911, the video was very helpful. Note if you have hard water and your's is too far gone to clean this way, you can also replace the handle/water tube combination and the reservoir valve. Way cheaper than replacing the entire unit.
Thanks for this useful video! Just the right length to answer our questions. Great use of CZcams.
Hello Paty -
The Plaque Seeker Jet Tip can be used on the same setting as you would use for the Classic Jet Tip.
*_This video is so helpful. Thank you!_*
I've had my WP-900 for 2 years now. My dentist recommended I get some type of water pick after having dental implants for my 4 front lower teeth. I chose the WP-900.
In the past month the button on the handle began sticking and wouldn't come out without repeatedly pressing the button and sometimes tapping the handle on my hand.
Today I used this entire cleaning method and everything seems fine now! I didn't know about this thorough cleaning method.
I change my toothbrush every 3 months, at the change of the season, i.e., the beginning of spring, summer, fall and winter. And now I'll be cleaning my WP-900 on the same dates.
Gotta say that when I took the handle out of the water/vinegar solution there was tiny blob of gunk in the glass. The button was still sticking but after I ran the vinegar/water solution though the unit it seems to have loosened up.
I'm so glad I found this tutorial. I had already looked up my purchase records because I had purchased a 4 year warranty from Amazon when I purchased it. I think today's cleaning solved my problems.
*_I love my WP-900! Thanks again Waterpik!_*
My previous waterpik broke after just 1 year 😢. I thought it’s only a bad product or I was unlucky. But now I know why! Mold formed inside of the power button even though it was sealed. I was so confused 😕 as to how that was possible? But now I understand how. Mold forms in dark places, especially after it’s been wet. So what I have to do is deep cleaning. Not just the type of cleaning I once did. NO! Cleaning throughly while taking everything apart that can be taken out. So yeah! That was my mistake and I ain’t gonna let it happen again 😕😭🤦🏼♀️. Because idk about you, but I LOVE my waterpik. I do indeed. Flossing has never been easier until I got waterpik. So yeah 😎
I had excellent results, as above, after using "How to Clean your Water Pik - Water Flosser" at the top of the CZcams list. It looks like there many others, some focused on more specific questions..
Thank you
Great video, and easy to understand.
best tip:
put everything in flosser container
add water and vinegar,
soak for 7min,
remove
attach and cycle
replace water
cycle
wash with warm water
you welcome
Super good advice!!!
I will name my first child "Start Visit" in honour of your genius.
Fantastic info.
Black mold forms inside the handle due to bad design.
Hello there, the handle does have a hollow cavity, but it is not a defect. If you make sure to flush any residual additives (if used)) from the unit after each use and if you clean the unit regularly, including soaking the handle as instructed in this video, it will prevent any kind of build up from forming. @@waterpikGood that you answered this question. In fact, leaving that part out of the video for the sake of brevity, or assuming consumers just “know” these things, doesn’t help.
Thank you for sharing
The waterpik I bought back in November last year broke yesterday as in the motor does nothing. I went ahead and ordered the radiance which I had only avoided originally because $120 for something that might not be what I think it is, eh $40 at target was preferable at the time basically. I still haven’t tried running vinegre through my current unit so I’ll see if that does anything but if it’s outright broken whatever the radiance is a million times better. My model has an on off switch on the actual unit and also the handheld part. People make mistakes and to now have a unit with just one and on the handheld part plus the magnetic stuff cool name and pristine new unit, yeah.
Another suggestion may be try not to use water straight from the tab. I noticed the hard water stains in the reservoir and didn't think about how it could effect the rest of the machine until now. I stated using filter water hopefully this will help with minimizing the gunk build up.
Any updates?
How do you clean one without a removable valve? Will soap damage the valve or get stuck under it? WP-660 model.
This is what I need for last 4 years
I just received the Cordless Express water flosser for Christmas. Model: WF-02W010/02W012. Are the tips still the same when cleaning it?
Hello @Waterpik ! Great video, nevertheless:
How many % of vinegar is to be used? The White vinegar I can buy in Norway is either 5, 7 or 35% . Which one to use??
any suggestions on having the button stick. If i push it in it won't come right back out. I finally got it to pop out. Now I don't touch it, just use it that way. maybe a cleaning will help. Thanks for the video I didn'y know all of that.

my water pik broke so i had to get a new one cuz i never knew it needs to be cleaned but now i’m gon clean it every month then
Dw man. I’m on the same boat as you. That was my mistake too. Cuz just like you, I was unaware that you had to clean it throughly, (as in deep cleaning it). I only cleaned the inside of the reservoir by adding mouthwash to it and then turning it on until the mouthwash runs out. That was all I did. I did NOT know about the whole other thing. And the rest you already know what happened. So yep! Lesson learned 😢😭🤦🏼♀️. That why imma take very good care of this new one and keeping it as clean as possible
Thank you for the cleaning guide. I got a problem for my flosswe tip when I use the highest speed on my waterpik it suddenly came out I had no choice but to use my fingers to hold it down

I had this problem too and was told likely had to replace the tip. I did so and cleaning also seemed to help.@@waterpik
How do you clean the Aquarius model handle since it can be ejected?
Can't you do the same thing as shown, just with the tube sticking out of whatever container you're immersing the handle in?
I have the waterpik 660 Aquarius. Is it ok to soak the handle of this model in vinegar and water? I doesn’t say in the manual.
Certainly! Learn how here: www.waterpik.com/oral-health/product-support/articles/how-to-clean-waterpik-water-flosser-vinegar/
I have the 560 Model (actually we have 2 of them).
I've been doing as advised in manuals:
"Never immerse unit in water. Before cleaning, unplug from the electrical outlet. Clean the product when necessary by using a soft cloth and mild non-abrasive cleanser to wipe exterior. The water reservoir is removable for easy cleaning and is top rack dishwasher safe. It is recommended that the reservoir is removed and cleaned weekly"
But when I remove the reservoir to clean, I see the yellow build up on the surface inside the unit. How to clean it if "never immerse unit in water"?
Hello Marina. once the reservoir is removed, take a damp cloth with a mild dish soap and wipe down the area where the reservoir attaches. There is no need to submerge the unit.
@@waterpik Thank you
I take mine to the kitchen, wash and rinse using the spray hose, works great and it’s clean.
@@rcamos2908 Thanks, I'll try to use a hose, because using a damp cloth is not clean enough
@@marinaalex0510 make sure you keep yours very clean and take good care of it. That was my mistake for my previous waterpik (which broke after a year 😢). This does nothing to clean out the black mold that has built up somewhere inside the handle or hose.
Running distilled white vinegar and warm water through the unit and handle regularly, as recommended, will prevent the issue by breaking down any buildup that may be accumulating. If you use additives or have very hard water, you can do certainly do it more often.
I can't get all the water out of the hose. This is a design problem!!
Question - I have the 660 model and I can't get the valve to pop out. The manual says it's top rack safe but this video is telling me to remove it. I'm afraid I'll ruin the valve if I try washing it in the top rack. Anyone have any tips?
The WP-660 features a spring-loaded valve that is not removable.
how often should you clean it?
We recommend cleaning your unit every 1-3 months to ensure optimal performance.
What if I click the blue button on the stick how to undo that
I found soaking the handle wasn't enough. Additional suggestion is to take a toothbrush with soap or toothpaste and scrub the handle crevasses and the hole where the spouts go in.
A little dish soap might be better than using toothpaste, as toothpaste is abrasive and can scratch. JMHO
@@maricarol85 Toothpaste is too abrasive for cleaning an appliance, but we'll use it on our teeth? lol

@@farleygibbs6320 It's always a marvelous experience to witness an ignorant person laugh condescendingly, blissfully unaware that they are incorrect.
Why do they recommend a water/vinegar solution for cleaning the outside of the unit? Is regular soap & water harmful?
You can clean the product when necessary by using a soft cloth and mild non-abrasive cleanser. To clean the internal parts of your unit, we recommend 2 TB of white vinegar in a full reservoir of warm water. If you have any other questions, please reach out to us at 1-800-525-2774 or email smreviews@waterpik.com.
My dentist recommended rinsing my model wpa460 with 2 tankfuls of 50/50 bleach/water solution and then several tanks of water. Is this ok?
Here's a link to information regarding adding mouthwash and other solutions to your water flosser. www.waterpik.com/oral-health/product-support/articles/waterpik-mouthwash/.
I would not add bleach. If left over bleach is stuck in there and gets in your mouth, it can't be healthy.
Is it okay to submerge the flosser tip in boiling water to clean?
You can maintain the jet tips by soaking in 2 parts water and 1 part hydrogen peroxide or distilled white vinegar for 5-10 minutes. We recommend replacing the Jet Tips every three months.
How often should we do this procedure?
It says "every 1 to 3 months" at the end of the video
I can not remove the black valve on my unit. Can I hand wash with valve in place?
We are sorry you are having this difficulty. Here's some more information about removing the reservoir valve:www.waterpik.com/oral-health/product-support/articles/reservoir-valve/. If you still need assistance, please email smreviews@waterpik.com for assistance. Or call customer service at 1-800-525-2774 Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Mountain Time for assistance.
Will this not make my water flosser smell like vinegar? or does the smell disappear after rinsing it?
After cleaning, rinse by repeating with a full reservoir of clean warm water.
How do I dry the reservoir after washing? I never can get the water out completely.
You can open the reservoir fill door and set the reservoir on its side to allow condensation to evaporate.
How about the unit itself and the underside?
You can clean the product when necessary by using a soft cloth and mild non-abrasive cleanser to wipe exterior.
My water pik stopped sending water to the handle! It’s not even a year old! Never had this happen to other water piks in the past. Ideas?
We are sorry to hear that this is happening. It could just need the jet tip replaced or the unit may need to be cleaned. If cleaning the unit or changing the tip does not fix the issue, please let us know! Email us at smreviews@waterpik.com or call us at (800) 525-2774 and we would be happy to help.
Can I use apple cider vinegar instead of white vinegar?
Hi Aaron! We do not recommend using apple cider vinegar to clean the product as it has sugar in it and will cause build up.
I used a small amount of ACV for my handheld water reservoir. I let it soak 4-5 mins and it's sparkling clean. I won't use it again because it's not recommended. It really needed to be cleaned and that's all that I had.
It is impossible to drain the water from the hose, which results in mold. I shake the tube and water continues to come out for several minutes!
We're sorry you are having this difficulty. To drain the handle, you can run the unit for an additional 5-7 seconds after use. For assistance, please contact us at 1-800-525-2774 or email smreviews@waterpik.com.
Always take it apart and let it air dry after use.
The spiral tube thru which the water goes to reach the handle remains full of water. It does not drain completely.
@@edntz
@@robinmiller395 Yes this is true. The best you can do is to turn it on, on the highest setting without any water. So it blows the majority of water out. Then store it in a room where the humidity is below 55% so mold can't grow. And hopefully no mold will get into the tube. But no guaranteed unfortunately.
Mine as well and after only weeks and after only 2 weeks the hole where the flosser sits in, smells of mildew or mold. I've rinsed and rinsed with vinegar and hydrogen peroxide and i dry it out very carefully and thoroughly and i do this cleaning video once a week. There must be some way of getting out all the water from the inside hose.

What if my waterpik no longer shoots out water?
Hi there! We are sorry that you are experiencing an issue with your flosser. You may have a clogged jet tip. If this does not fix the issue, please contact customer service at 1-800-525-2774 Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm Mountain Time for assistance.
How about a video, or even written instructions, for the Model 360? This says amount of white vinegar depends on my model. The manual says NOTHING about a white vinegar mixture.
Hi David -
We are sorry for the confusion. The official recommendation from the instruction manual of the WP-360 is one tablespoon of distilled vinegar to a reservoir of warm water.
So if you don’t have a washer and you own a cordless water flosser you’re screwed when comes to cleaning the inside of the reservoir.
You can clean the reservoir with a mild dish soap and warm water if you do not have a dishwasher. For more information, please call 1-800-525-2774.
Please add an Arabic subtitle please.
Why do you need to change the tip? Can you just wash it?
The tip can become clogged and/or affected by mineral deposits which lowers the lifespan of your unit. You can maintain the jet tips by soaking in distilled white vinegar for 5-10 minutes.
@@waterpik thank you
