    Building 3 in 1 Workshop. Homemade table saw
    woodworking projects. Woodworking for beginners. Workbench build
    #michaelpaley
    A workbench is a table used by woodworkers to hold workpieces while they are worked by other tools. There are many styles of woodworking benches, each reflecting the type of work to be done or the craftsman's way of working. Most benches have two features in common: they are heavy and rigid enough to keep still while the wood is being worked, and there is some method for holding the work in place at a comfortable position and height so that the worker is free to use both hands on the tools. The main thing that distinguishes benches is the way in which the work is held in place. Most benches have more than one way to do this, depending on the operation being performed.

      @@MichaelPaleyAU Mr Paley, thank you very much for this video. I think its genius! I am a novice who had access to a woodworking shop 40 (ack!) years ago. I would like to make this but I didn't see a list of materials. Did I miss it? I'd like to start a small business making dog houses with some nice details. Thanks for any help you can offer. Yours Truly, Maria

    Excellent project - very clever and practical use of space. As someone with a multi-function garage, also used as a shop, I appreciate anything that conserves what little room there is. I also like the idea of making hand tools more precise, as this is the key to doing good work.

    I like your concept for this multifunction table. U might want to consider verticle clamps for mounting - much easier and less time consuming when removing and reinstalling the tool. I built something similar except I designed a t-square beam style fence that clamps using verticle clamps. The system can be setup in my workmate and removed for easy transport. What I like about yours are the magnetic rules and dust collector for your router.

  • @ngnaw

    I like everything except for the circular saw portion. Going to build one just for the router and the jigsaw. Going to add miter tracks, fence and jigsaw blade adapter bearings. I don't like the saw portion because there is no track for a miter gauge or sled. I bought a Dewalt bench top circular saw for the added safety features and the no hassle fence system they use. But good job anyways!!

    Muchas gracias y nuevamente felicitaciones !!

    Many good ideas and a great build! Using the aluminum level as router fence and also incorporating dust collection in it is an innovative idea.
    Making jigsaw insert plate from cutting board material (polycarbonate?) is another great idea since is provides a low-friction support to jigsaw blade and minimizes sideways bending of the blade. Using magnets to slide the steel ruler is one more useful idea.
    In your design, there is no slot for a miter gauge or a cross cut sled. I don't find a permanent fence for the circular saw either. Are you planning to build them?

    Nice work. I lost count of the number of times I thought to myself "why he's doing that? He could have, , oh I see now!" 😊 I get what other commenters have said about the saw. I think though your fence system is great for the router it could get very frustrating for the saw taking too long for adjustments etc but on the whole I like it. I loved the cutting board inserts too.
    Ps. That music! It's like being stuck on hold on the phone. Glad I didn't hang up though.

      +didyouknow I have a couple of questions: after some use, how is the table holding up? And a doubt: what is the purpose of the plastic cover on each tool's blade/bit? Can't you just leave the hole on the wood without plastic?

    • @MichaelPaleyAU
      @MichaelPaleyAU  Před 8 lety +2

      Its slightly not holding up when I'm working with the jigsaw, Im simply holding it by the foot. Plastic cover its just protection against sawdust than optimal hole the less dust goes to the tool. Thanx
