WARNING - Hilton’s Casa Marina Waldorf Astoria in Key West, Florida - Why we will NEVER go back!

- In this review I give you an overall picture of the hotel, grounds, beach, breakfast buffet and the room we were assigned. I can tell you that the grounds were lovely, especially the two pools and ocean view. However, the room was another story. I am normally pretty easy going, but when I am paying these resort prices, I expect quality in the room - that did not happen here as I detailed in the video. Actually, it was quite disgusting. I thought Pat’s description of this hotel was fantastic and very helpful. I considered staying at the Waldorf Hotel, however, after seeing the condition of the room I am planning on going to another hotel. It is not right to charge a high price for hotel and provide such a substandard room.

I am a frequent visitor to Key West, enjoy the Island and views. I have noticed that the hotels in the area are starting to look dated. All need some makeovers! Good video that tells the story

Hi Pat: We had a similar experience. Love the grounds of this hotel but our room was just crap. It really is the place to be though, great location and that’s why we have to pay the price. We looked into other places in the same location and even more expensive. Going back in December. Hoping my room will be a little better this time but I doubt it after seeing your video!

We were lucky to stay here for a couple nights in 2017. Amazing place. You can relax in hammocks till late at night while listening to the water sounds of Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic. Both water bodies meet here and you can easily tell the difference between Atlantic and the Gulf.
Yes, the grounds and pool are just beautiful I will say, and hopefully that came across in the video. My main complaint was my horrible room and hopefully everyone does not have the experience that I did. Thanks for watching.
Waldorfs brand is tarnished at so many properties, Las Vegas property is pretty gross too. So many better choices. Thank you for this great honest review.

Thank you! This is what I came to CZcams to confirm the “look” of the Casa rooms! I love the resorts grounds and the overall building is beautiful but even their pics of the room on their website look outdated and you not only confirmed that but also showed they are not well taken care of! Will definitely not be booking here. Thanks again.

Ya, we were so disappointed with our stay especially when you spend an arm and a leg for 1 night. Wish you guys saw our video prior to you staying to avoid this place. Sorry your visit to the Keys was kinda crummy! Appreciate you popping in our our video =)

Thanks for posting this! Looking to change reservations from Opal Hotel (for next week) as I found out the cruise ships are parked directly in front of the hotel thereby obscuring any "ocean front" view you will be paying a premium to enjoy during your stay. They didn't clue us on to that "amenity" until we called to ask directly.

@RubyRuby - Cruise ships are not allowed in Key West anymore so you will not have any big obstruction.
@@angelaterranova1577 I was in key west just prior to Ian hitting so I had to leave early but there was 100% a celebrity cruise ship docked in front of your “ocean view” hotel room. You can look on any cruise website to see when they will be docking. In fact when we canceled our room they asked why and we told them bc the cruise ship blocks the view. The guy claimed not to know when the ships would dock so we told him 😬 we stayed at the southernmost resort but that’s another story. It was awful and equally expensive
@@rubyruby6358 - Sorry about that , they had previously banned them in 2020. Just read after your reply, cruise are still banned at city ports unless small ships but they can use the private dock. (In front of Opal) What a bummer! Thx for the reply!
@@angelaterranova1577 It is a bummer! I had no idea they had banned them at city ports but I know the ships have ruined the vibe of KW for sure. Good to know the private docks are circumventing the ban. Many of the shops were closed until the ship came in so I guess they allow it for the local economy.
In the beginning I thought you were a crabby old guy just like me however you did a great job. No excuse for the little bit of money that would’ve caused to at least look extremely clean. My wife and I were at the Flagler in not long ago and it’s older than that one but it was in beautiful condition. We’re on our way to Key West soon and there may have been a chance we would go there but now because of you we will look Somewhere else.
I am normally a very positive guys and ignore a lot. As I said, the grounds were beautiful but when I got to the door I thought this was odd how bad it looks. Seriously, the camera still does not really depict how bad it was. Thanks for watching the whole thing and commenting. (I am in Cairo Egypt right now and my wife and I got charged $175 for two double Bombay gins! The manager here at the Sheraton said that is the price...wait for that review....)

This hotel was actually renovated extensively a few years ago, I remember when it opened - surprising, always stay at the reach a sister resort weird

The most recent hurricane and past ones caused significant damage. The hotel is closing from May 2023 to I believe October 2023 for complete renovation. We have been there multiple times and in the past before the damage it was very nice. I will see what it is like this winter

No I have not. We stayed at the Pier House in Key West and that was very nice.

Even after this review, I’m still going to go. It isn’t like I will stay in my room at the time as my mother works for Hilton and knows some people there. I am going for SB for fingers crossed it will be nice

@@patsadventures6381 Did you stay at the Hampton Inn Key West? I just booked the Casa Marina and I am considering canceling. I used a reward certificate and points so I am sure I will be in a room like this, unless I get lucky with an upgrade (as a Diamond member that I is what I am hoping)
wow that insane how poor and disgusting these rooms are, its like a jersey motel (im from jersey) and they have the nerve to charge such high prices. I'll be headed to key west in 2 days staying at the barbary beach house i hope they have their shit together because this is insane for a brand that strong to have rooms that bad, great review!

Where you stayed, was built I think in late 1970s-early 1980s. It used to be Marriott in 80s. If that matters. IT was in pretty good shape in the 1980s. The rooms on the left side if looking at the ocean, were new in mid 1980s. I don't know if they are in good shape anymore or not. Just saying.
The one we were in was in horrible shape and no excuse for it. Just a warning to others. Thanks for watching!

For that price you'd be better served staying at any one of the awesome B&B's in Key West like Weatherstation Inn, Tropical Inn or Mermaid and Alligator to name a few. Less expensive and way more charming.

I always stay at the El Patio just down Washington street. They do no pretend like the astoria. You always know what you are getting. At 200/night; its always a bargain.

First I will say this spicific room is unacceptable,I wud have immediately went to front desk and ask for another room.I stayed here in a ocean front one bedroom suite and the room was delightful nothing like your room. With the exsorbament rates this room was unacceptable.I wud definitely reach out to the Waldorf for reimbursement.

Just returned from the CM. No change from your video. We had a room in the same vicinity and everything you showed was still there including the bird droppings. Management gives you the patronizing sorry give us another shot but that will never happen especially for the price they charge. Heading to the Hyatt next time.

Thanks for the video! Worst hotel ever! Just got back from there! The video was exactly how we experienced. DO NOT book in this hotel! It’s not worth the price! They over charged too much for their dirty and smelly rooms! 🤮 All their furnitures we’re dirty and OLD, elevator was smelly and very hot and old too! The only thing was great was the view from the outside and the food. Also they have bad customer service! One lady wasn’t really very accommodating!

Could not agree more. I should have looked more close at the TripAdvisor reviews as many other people were saying how bad the property is.

Just got back from Casa Marina in Key West and completely redone. The hotel was immaculate. The staff was friendly and I go to several high-end resorts for my job and this is near the top.

I think I stayed at a nicer place for $89 a night in Lake Havasu Arizona.

Just awful...Hilton keeps dropping in quality everywhere..but that is disgusting....they should be ashamed..but Hilton does not give a damn....should have just asked for a full refund...

Yes it was.....the video says it all.
I stayed there years ago and I see not much has changed, the only good part was getting a free upgrade 😉 due to my room was not available or given away , got a nice ground floor with patio. room was very small but who cares, I do remember a horrible sewer smell the whole time and the so called beach was just bad. horrible beach. spent more time on Duval anyways. never again.
