Last fall I thought I was going away on a one night trip, so in a somewhat minimal way, I packed a clean extra T-shirt, one pair of underwear and a toothbrush. Then life happened, and I ended up being away three weeks from home, including a week in Rome. And I survived… My daughters met up with me at the airport, and I asked them to bring a dress and my passport. But that was all. I’m proud of myself for making it so long with so few items. And it really wasn’t very hard either, washing clothes by hand every night with hotel soap is ok
I am obsessed with minimalism and simple living, but a house, husband, 18 YO son and dog prevents me from going as minimal in my home as I would like. I live in the Inland Empire a few hours north of you and just celebrated my 50th in April with a trip to St. Martin with my husband, brother and SIL. I planned a capsule wardrobe, but still overpacked. I am working on it and your videos are very inspiring.
It’s a process! Keep setting that intention and with each trip you can really see what you needed and what you didn’t. And yes def more challenging with other bodies in the house- just keep minimizing what is truly yours and find the freedom in that. Thank you for the birthday wishes 🤗💕

I’m going to Alaska fairly soon and it’s long overdue! I’m looking forward to going to Chena hotsprings. I love the idea of taking yourself on a solo trip with air bnb for your birthday! Most people wouldn’t consider that as an option! Earlier this year I went to Idaho and Utah and saw that the highs were going to be in the seventies so I packed accordingly. I missed the part about the crazy winds they were having and didn’t realize that without the humidity I’m used to it would feel much colder. I spent the whole trip freezing and saying “I packed so wrong.”

I aspire to pack lightly too and try to each time now the same way….each time I travel I grab less and less and find that I still don’t use everything I packed. I also find that no one knows how many times I’ve outfit repeated so it truly doesn’t matter what I wear as long as I’m pleased with it myself and it fits the situation.

I was a little over packed tho, I had a Run, Anniversary Dinner and Day time events going on ha, then I thought I was going to another event but didn't so a little over packed but still pretty light. 👍 😊

Firstly, Happy Birthday "Exploravore Girl"!!!! Lol. Hope your trip is/was amazing!!! Secondly, I have TOTALLY been interested in ultra minimal travel/packing! I was able to test it out a bit last month visiting Maui for 10 days in just a backpack. Luckily had laundry machines in the condo which makes all the difference of course. But 3ish outfits for 10 days worked just fine! Thirdly, I have a fun book recommendation for you. My library luckily had it, it's called No Baggage by Clara Benson. Such a cool story and pretty inspiring for the ultimate minimalist travel. 💕

Firstly, Happy Birthday "Exploravore Girl"!!!! Lol. Hope your trip is/was amazing!!!
Secondly, I have TOTALLY been interested in ultra minimal travel/packing! I was able to test it out a bit last month visiting Maui for 10 days in just a backpack. Luckily had laundry machines in the condo which makes all the difference of course. But 3ish outfits for 10 days worked just fine!
Thirdly, I have a fun book recommendation for you. My library luckily had it, it's called No Baggage by Clara Benson. Such a cool story and pretty inspiring for the ultimate minimalist travel. 💕
