What make me amazed that even a sim who being used as tutorials have their own family tree. Like... Will Wright really putting his soul to every sim in here. That's why TS2 is the best for me...
I love TS2 for this as well but Will Wright was not very involved in the creation of it, he was focused more on The Sims Online at the time while other teams worked on TS2.
I'm not completely sure but I believe those aren't general townies. They all wear outfits that came with Apartment Life so they might be members of the social groups (socialites, jocks, techies) that came with AL. The game generated them successfully for the hood, but failed to generate townies for some reason.
Ah yeah that makes sense. The sims wiki does say that there aren't supposed to be normal townies in this hood only NPC's (also unique from other hoods,) and thinking about it the other Sims like the social group ones are generated by the hidden subhoods (I think this started with pets, and then continued on with every expansion after that,) and that happens the first time you load a neighbourhood (unlike with OFB, uni, and nightlife where you have to create a district first.) But the regular townies + NPC's from the base game are pre-generated since in every custom neighbourhood they're the Pleasantview townies, but this isn't technically a custom neighbourhood so the NPC's are unique and Maxis didn't create any townies for it. I'd guess because they didn't think it would be relevant to the tutorial gameplay.
I just finished watching Us, so when the multiple clones of Joe and Jane Tutorial started coming over it felt weirdly meta haha
When you first place down a lot, it's not entirely "initialized" until you visit it.
The two lots that are "darker" are those that are initialized, but just empty, so it just looks off because there's nothing on them.
Yeah, also I think those lots are for the building tutorials!
Oh right for some reason I never noticed that before when placing lots.
I also think itâs down to if the lots have been play tested with sims, as any empty lot becomes darker after moving a sim out
omg as a child I've always wanted to play this neighbourhood, so cool. I work as a QA and I can't imagine how they decided to sell the game with such a huge bug.........

I have a guess as to the original purpose of the Creative Textures house! In other games I've also seen hidden regions made for testing wallpaper and flooring and player interaction with them. How can you be sure if you don't try it out in the game? And then they just left it in because they figured nobody'd ever find it anyway.
In particular, at 15:06 you can see that they were testing different ways of utilizing the tile floor at top left, and on the top right and bottom right they mixed floors in odd patterns to see how they'd look/interact. IIRC that top right is testing tile & wood combos, and the bottom is carpet & wood combos. Does the game correctly predict when the Sim's footsteps would change from "walking on wood" sound to "walking on carpet" sound? Stuff like that. The 15:17 house is a great example of lighting and color, and 15:20... I don't know; that could be anything from light to floor to two-story house testing. But this is all already stuff you should take with a grain of salt :P Thanks for showing us!
Unrelated to that: You mention Blightgate often as a neighborhood with a lot of story; are you planning on putting it up for download eventually? I love neighborhood projects :)
Yeah I think it's likely that it was probably related to testing like that. It's interesting that it was added to the tutorial neighbourhood instead of one of the others like the beta neighbourhoods or Strangetown (think they did a lot of testing there too.)
I actually have already uploaded the neighbourhood but I haven't really brought that up much since the first video where I mentioned that lol, probably should mention that more. There are two versions of it and one has no lots and is mostly empty, and the other has all the lots + Sims but there's also a bunch of custom content that needs to be downloaded for the lots to work properly (and also some extra stuff like cars + hair etc that are more optional but the custom lots look really odd if you don't download them from modthesims.) Also there are a couple of other mishaps that I only realised after uploading like there are a couple of InSimenator objects on one lot that I forgot to remove.

Oh god the MEMORIES! I'd play the tutorial family because they have max needs at all times - so I'd level their cooking skills to max and run my own lil' kitchen cooking Turkey and cakes, this was before University and OFB etc :D
The townies are the Apartment Life social group sims, they are added with the magic subhood which also adds the Newsons, not sure about the NPCs though
Oh yeah I checked on the wiki page and the NPC's are unique to the tutorial hood but there are no pre-generated townies so the only other Sims besides the NPCs and playable Sims are from the later expansions when they started generating Sims through the secret sub-neighbourhoods.
The houses are the Build/Buy tutorial I think, there's a build/buy tutorial pleasentsims did if I recall and I think it's from that.
You can make the tutorial sims adopt kids. I remember making them adopt kids when I was younger, but I don't think I could ever get Tutorial Jane pregnant.
i think the massive lot with all the empty houses was made to test lighting or textures, or something

lol I guess they are. I just found it funny because she's a good witch and they immediately started fighting though I didn't see who started it, was probably the firefighter lol.

I have so many things to do but I keep on binge watching your videos, I became even more fascinated with all these sims glitches and bugs and I wanted to thank you a lot because your videos are making my day everytime, I love how you always want to try everything and see what happens, like that'd be me if I had the energy but happily you do and am more than happy to watch all this amazing stuff happen and am just so happy to see someone with a passion like mineđ„șlov u girl

This video is amazing! You have such creative ideas with the game. :-D I think the two shadowed lots are the build tutorial lots. They have to be connected to scripts or coding of some kind, since you have to follow a scripted build tutorial there and afterwards it gets reset. And when making the world playable, the codes either still connect to those lots or it's broken. However, I would not touch those lots. ^^ But I like the idea to make the tutorial family playable.

Why this is? I think it was hardcoded for the tutorial part. Like instead of "go back" it said "go to tutorial_neighbourhood" or something like that. Maybe they needed a toggle for the tutorial mode gameplay and were running out of time to code all the functions, but i don't know much about the topic!
What about The Sims Life stories Glitches? i remember as a kid playing that game to death
Oh I never played the life stories games but I am curious about that too since it uses the same game engine as 2. I did notice on the sims 2 wiki reading about it that there are some corrupt/glitched Sims too in one of those games.
@@CalipersandTongs I think what you are already doing is brilliant, no one discusses gliches and funny little leftovers , lore and such stuff that you record, i would really love to see some sims 3 stuff too! and long vids are fine with me!
14:37 so I recently discovered that you can force the game to load the Creative Textures tutorial by editing the Episode description.txt file in Res/Tutorial and changing it to load Lot number 3. The only mention of that file appears to be on some random MTS thread where someone claims they added their own tutorial to the list. The tutorial however is broken at least in UC and it doesn't let me to go past first step "Open build mode", game doesn't recognize opening build mode.
At first I thought this was the recommendation of an old video about the actual tutorial I watched back when I was still figuring out how to play the sims, then I realized this video was just uploaded and I got curious. I must say, I'm not disappointed, this was really interesting

I've thought about it before. I actually encountered some weird graphics glitch that I recorded recently and was contemplating uploading but I actually play RS3 lol (but very casually.) I've played on/off since 2004 though. I meant to try out old school at some point (I mean I played old school when it was current back in the day but I mean after they separated them lol,) but didn't really want to start again from scratch I guess when I've always just had this one character. I'm kind of reluctant to put my RS3 character on YT too though because I sort of play it as a relaxing/mostly single player game (I know that's kind of weird because it's an mmo,) and so I wouldn't want to share my Runescape details unless I started a new account. So I guess in that sense if I ever did upload stuff it would make more sense to start an old school account for Runescape. So maybe one day but I have no plans.
Actually initially I made the channel for Oblivion/Skyrim videos back in 2016 which is why I have this weird username lol (it's from a quest in Oblivion.) I still want to upload some of those one day (also a random video about the sort of ingame joke my username is related to,) but I have an idea for a lets play series that will be a lot more complicated to do and not sure if it's possible for me yet or not but will be a while off. This channel was kind of meant to be a gaming channel but it helps on CZcams to have a niche I think or people lose interest, but I do mostly play The Sims atm. If I did that I'd come up with a schedule though so it would be like ideally a couple of videos a week and then one would be Oblivion/Skyrim and another would be The Sims stuff. But yeah for the time being it's just going to be Sims stuff. Oh yeah and then I uploaded the first part of a Spyro reboot trilogy lets play series in January that I haven't continued and probably should :') so many things.

Anyway! Runescape! I totally understand the casual thing. ANd to be honest.... I uh.. Don't care all that much bout the current RuneScape ^^;;; Old School RuneScape when it wasn't old school... That... That's what I grew up with! That was my first MMO. So I'm more interested in that XD Tried current Runescape and ehhh... I didn't get into that. Then again, I find it hard to get back into RuneScape anyway. But if you did do let's plays on it, a think a secondary account would be best. Then you have your main/personal account, and then the account for LPing. If that makes sense?
I wanna get back into RuneScape... Currently I'm into FF14... But playing an MMO is making me wanna try RuneScape again.. Old School of course XD he one with the really ugly but lovable graphics.

Yeah I think if I started making videos for that I'd just start again on old school with a new account for CZcams, that way I'd be starting from the beginning too. I think old school has been updated a bunch too since it started so it's basically a continuing separate game with updates which is interesting. I have a bunch of other things planned so not sure I'll have the time lol but maybe I'll make a few videos here and there one day I don't know.

Oh it never even got to the editing stage so I never even uploaded it at all. If I find it, Iâll cut out the Santa cult, and post that. Cos that was pretty weird XD I was confused.
Yeah I get that editing takes quite a while sometimes. It's OK for about 2 hours of content but if there's more then editing it down really takes forever.
I've tried the 100 babies challenge a few times but I've never managed to complete it lol. I'm not very good at finishing challenges actually, I'm not sure if I've finished any. I got to generation 7 in the legacy challenge and then stopped years ago for some reason. I also almost finished the apocalypse challenge (was playing it in The Sims 3,) but didn't quite.

Oh yeah in The Sims 2 the CAS screen is technically a lot Sims go to (I think that's why you can't get there later after you finish creating the Sim/family unlike in later Sims games.) I visited there I think years ago when I used to play. You can also edit it I believe by editing the lot, also if you're not careful and you mess around with it I think Sims can actually freeze to death while using CAS (if Seasons is installed.)

There's this video I found where I think someone had that happen, although actually I don't think they die just freeze. I think in The Sims 2 you have to have low motives while you're freezing to die or something.

Also yeah the CAS lot is just a secret lot I believe that pops up in every neighbourhood. I might make a video on the lot later and creating custom cas screens (because you have to clone and visit the lot to create custom screens.) I know I messed around with that before but it's been a very long time now. It's possible that a video like that already exists though, I'd be surprised if it didn't really after so many years.

I completely get what you're saying about the comments btw! It happens to me all the time. They could be in the spam comments folder on your CZcams Studio tab, but sometimes they're not and CZcams just likes eating the comments đ.

I think it's because, I get A LOT of spam comments which DO get deleted most of the time. And I wonder if CZcams accidentally deletes real comments.

Yeah I don't remember fully now. I think I just said something about why it maybe crashed and then maybe linked to something else about corruption that was related (I have a vague memory lol but can't really remember.)

I have a question. You have a story version, and a blank version right? What do you mean by blank? Cos Iâm pretty sure you said that the story version has mods or something and I play the sims 2 completely vanilla.
Oh no I think the link might have just been a link to someone who talked about how they had a similar form of corruption happening later on, so not from the very beginning of their neighbourhood (to show it was possible to happen later,) but it was slightly different so they had pet Sims acting like Humans (someone else in the comments of one of my videos had that happen too I think that corruption side effect must be more common for some reason,) and more messed up in many ways like all the sims in their neighbourhood lost their family relations and many aspirations went missing. I can't find the link though now through google.
The blank version has no lots or families moved in or any neighbourhood decoration (I basically just removed the original neighbourhood that used to be there before I rebuilt it and made all those Sims townies,) but it still has the corruption so if you use the phone to adopt pets there will be some weird hybrid ones there, and they'll come by the edge of the lot also the Roseland + Crittur families are corrupt like in the video I posted. Unfortunately I included a bunch of custom lots from modthesims, and other stuff in the story version so I don't have a story version without CC. I think you can get away with not downloading a lot of the cosmetic items and skin tone though when I tested it without my downloads folder, but some of the lots look odd without the CC that came with them.
