It's because of a reason bro wo awaj k bina b ban sakta tha but wo isi liye hai ki u won't have to be double sure that if you have applied the hand break or not second it actually help the teeth to fit at the right place if you just pull it by pressing the top button you may end up applying a loose hand break... So the right way is to pull without pressing that top button and let it make noise......

If button is pressed , a possibility will be created that instead of getting fixed on a gear it might stop between them which may cause it to stuck that's why i think it's better to pull without pressing button it will also give you the feel of how much handbrake is pulled
