  • While staying in Da Nang, we decided we needed to visit Hue, the former Imperial Capital of Vietnam and home to the Imperial and Forbidden City. The train between Da Nang and Hue is supposed to be one of the most scenic in Vietnam. Unfortunately, our trip didn't quite go as we hoped as there was heavy rain the entire time. We made the best of the situation, but we left the city with a desire to return and spend more time exploring (hopefully when it isn't raining).

The weather in Huế city always rains a lot. That's because it is located in a special position: the slope receives wind from both sides. Heavy storms hit the city everyyear. There is a song that says: Huế is sad forever because of rain.

Thanks for stopping by our channel and sharing your comment. Hopefully when we return later this year we will be able to visit without rain.

To make those egg rolls you can use the banh hoi dry noodle pack. You can find at any Asian grocery store. It’s just made of thin rice noodles so you wrap your shrimp with that instead of the regular round rice paper

It’s interesting how that crunchy texture changes the experience of the spring rolls. It’s so great learning about these things. Locals probably think this is so simple and obvious, but it’s new to us and we are loving it.

We plan to come back to Hue. We were so sad it was raining the entire time. We were so intent on visiting the imperial city that we decided it was worth getting wet. We ended up getting much wetter than we expected 😂😂. I (Chris) had to use a hair dryer at the hotel to dry out my shoes. 😂😂
      🙏😊

When I was in Danang years ago, I had to choose between Hue and Hoi An for my overnight side trip. In the end, I chose Hoi An …. but since that time, I have always been wondering how Hue is like. Thks for this video. It seems to be very rainy there at this time of the year! Did you check the weather forecast before deciding on the date of this Hue trip ? Btw, I also understand that another city called DALAT is very nice. I think it is closer to Ho Chi Minh

Hi Mike! Thanks for watching and commenting. Hue and Hoi An are both worth visiting, but Hue seems to just be very wet due to its proximity to the mountains. We did look at the weather forecast, but it wasn’t very reliable and we were also limited by our time visiting central Vietnam. The reality is there may have been a slightly better time to go, but we wouldn’t have been able to determine that by weather forecasts. We are planning to return to Vietnam so we will check out Dalat. Thanks for the tip.

It’s better if it rains; otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to stand the heat. 🥵

😂😂😂 funny you mention that. Stephanie and I were laughing about it being so cold that day when just a few days earlier we had to duck inside during the day to cool off. We’re not complaining. Either way we enjoyed a hot coffee or an iced coffee. Vietnam has a drink for every weather condition. 😂
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏😊
