Ciao, Italia! -- Live from Italy debutó en la decimoséptima posición de la lista Top Music En Venta de Videocassettes del Billboard el 4 de junio de 1988 y alcanzó la posición nueve, la semana siguiente. Posteriormente, comenzó un ascenso constante, y en la semana del 20 de agosto de 1988, alcanzó el puesto número uno, y sustituyó a Jane Fonda's Low Impact Aerobic Workout de Jane Fonda... Estuvo presente por un total de ochenta y siete semanas. El VHS fue el vídeocasete de música más vendido de 1988.

I've never understood people who say she can't sing live. She's pitchy on some performances, but she sounds like Madonna. She sounds like herself. Her voice and tone are unique. She sounds good. Madonna has never sought after positive vocal recognition. She's an amazing theatrical entertainer. She does a great job. She has no desire to have the pipes of Carey or Houston. She just does her thing, has a magnetic personality, and has a great time on stage. Isn't that what it's all about? I've seen her live. She doesn't disappoint. An outstanding entertainer. She doesn't need your vocal critique. She's perfectly aware of her abilities.

With that first performance i never thought she was going to be a real Madonna 30 years later....she proved me wrong.
Obviously her voice is tyred here, but I like it more like this than when she lipsincs. Her joy and enthusyasm is so powerful, when you see this you understand why she is the queen.

Madonna comes out, but is hiding behind a British Telephone Booth.
She comes out, singing the chorus to "Dress You Up", wearing a freakishly pink tank top, pink skirt, pink hat, and fancy glasses.
She sings the chorus first, the first verse, back to the first chorus, skips over the next verse and into the second verse.
Her other two male dancers come out dressed as nerds, where Madonna slips right into "Material Girl". She sings all the way up to, "...A material. A material. A material girl".
After that, she goes into "Like A Virgin". By this time, she takes off the pink top, hat, and glasses, leaving on the skirt. She comically looks up the skirts of her back-up vocalists: Donna DeLory, Niki Harris, & Debra Parson. After that, she takes off the skirt and sings a verse of the infamous, "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)". After the Motown interlude, she goes back into the third verse of "Like A Virgin" and finishes it out.

This is what her voice was like for the first decade of her career, very sweet sounding, with some scratchiness to it. Her voice is one of the most unique female voices in all of music....easily picked out. She doesn't get enough credit for her singing. It's hard enough to sound good, but to do all that while dancing like she out at a club is extremely hard. Most don't have the stamina to do that, but just look at her body. She was super fit, and had evert bit of that ability cause she worked hard for it. She will always be an icon and pop music legend. Weird now or not, she is the queen of pop, as how Michael Jackson is the King.

Cyndi lauper es un fenómeno maravilloso en el escenario. Madonna jamás pudo ni podrá lograr lo que cyndi hacia y hace en el escenario. Cyndi es millones de veces mejor. Y la verdad no creo que hayan pensado en esa época que madonna estaba imitando a cyndi. De hecho esta imitando a un personaje de los 50 o 60 que anda exactamente vestida igual.
