DP/30 @ Telluride '16: Amy Adams, Arrival (and Nocturnal Animals)

- Amy Adams gives two very different performances this fall. In Arrival, she is a linguist racing to figure out what aliens arriving on earth want and finding out more than she expected to. In Nocturnal Animals, she is the affluent, pampered power player whose ex-husband sends her a book that is profoundly disturbing. Brilliant in both, her 6th Oscar nomination seems assured, She spoke to David Poland at the Telluride Film Festival...her record 7th DP/30 interview.
Shot in Telluride, September 2016

Her voice is very satisfying to hear.
She's so sweet and soft-spoken and so perrrrfeeect
I want to see her winning an Oscar so bad:)
she deserves it, also she should have won for June bug and the fighter
And for American Hustle ! She owned the whole movie, just brilliant
Arrival is Oscar-worthy and so was her performance. Her Oscar may come soon!
she was great but its Natalie Portman thats going to win for Jackie
+Philip Moore yes she's terrific means brilliant in Jackie.. absolutely stunning
I can't believe Amy is 42. She is a such a timeless beauty
She looks her age, 42 isn't old. And yes, she's gorgeous.
She doesn't look 42 to me. I'd say like 37.
I swear she stopped aging in her late 20s.
There is no way she's 42.
She look 30
always refreshing to see a celeb who is real ;)
Amy not even getting an Oscar nomination for Arrival is one of 2010s biggest tragedies
Seems like such a nice person. She so down to earth and genuine. no ego . Amy is great.
This dude is on another level. Celebrities that are known as stiff like Natalie Portman and Amy Adams literally open up and talk more
Is stiff wrong???
This is the most outgoing I've ever seen her! Awesome interview!
I think she's like this in every DP/30 interview. She always seems very relaxed.
ageless! still remember your dp with her for Enchanted years ago. still the same genuine, insightful Amy.
"He was?!" I love how she just lights up with that. (16:28) Amy, you're adorable.
David always does a good job of stepping back and making space for the guests to open up.
She is so beautiful and articulate.
I remember Amy during the American Hustle promotion, David O'Russell had just broken her spirit in half and it translated into her interviews. You could sense before she revealed it in the press that an interior obstacle was her preventing from feeling at peace with herself. Now she got out of this tunnel. Good for her !
She herself has constantly clarified that it was not Russell, per se--it wasn't that he "abused" her or anything. It was that playing Sidney, period, was taking a big emotional toll on her, and the intense style of Russell's directing (which she hadn't had a problem with on "The Fighter", where her character was easier to handle) was getting to be too much for her to handle, WITH that. Remember when she got the Golden Globe for American Hustle, she gushed over him a bit...which I doubt she'd have done, if he'd "hurt" her.

Amy seems that being an acress is not a easy game now i can see why is a little Stiff he wants to keep a little of herself for his Daily life thats lovely
I love your interviews with Amy. thank you so much.
She had that attractive deep voice in Arrival. But in real life, she has an adorable cartoony voice. Man! What a woman!
In Arrival she has no vanity or beauty. But in real life she is beautiful even without makeup
have always loved amy! watched 'nocturnal animals' & 'arrival' over last few days & was stunned. x
The room, the way Amy's dressed, her suddenly breaking out into "Oklahoma" at one point (21:53)--I would LOVE to see our gal in a Western. A fun, "classical" Western.
She's great and Arrival is a great movie. I like both a lot.
I still think, though, that the movie is less about the story of a mother and more about both: communication being key in EVERY kind of relationship and time being completely subjective and not something that dictates everything else.
Great interview btw 😊👍
AMYYYY
David, the moment that Amy is talking about it's between 22:26 and 22:29. She gets emotional.
Can't wait to see those movies. I was hoping to hear more from Nocturnal Animals, but still, great talk!
She is so perfect! I wasn't a big fan of the movie but her performance in American Hustle was amazing.
when you see her again, tell her that I love her so much
I just love her very much.
Such soft spoken girl
Beautiful charming voice
One of my favourite American female actresses
Amy 😍 but it makes me sad thinking that she might get a 6th oscar nom without winning, get it now girl!
Jesus she's gorgeous ain't she?
Very much so, she is.
I'll give my friends a treat whenever she win the Oscar. She really deserves an Oscar.
Amy "The Master" Adams🏃♀️
she's the coolest
This channel is great. All the interviews are fantastic! Subbed😊
She's fucking amaaaaaazing!!!!!!
wonderful woman. please do an interview with Elle Fanning!! it would be awesome
Love her. She has that sexy husky voice in Nocturnal Animals
SHE IS GORGEOUS.
THAT IS IT.
remember what the flash said: its lois lane. she is the key!! as long as she's alive, supes will be in order
Their chemistry is insane they’d make a great couple
meu amor
Wow, for the first time I see her as Nicole Kidman's sister, the voice, the look.

Nah Amy is more lovely inside and out
Please tell me you got one with Denis
I really hope so
denis is awesome
I doubt it. At least for now. Denis has been stuck in Budapest doing the Blade Runner sequel for the past few months.
ah, well. didn't realize that was already in production.
TheLonesomeChef
What's the release date for that?
Man. I wish Amy was my girlfriend.
Hope you got an interview with Vileneuve as well...the Sicario one was ace! At least get him and Deakins back for Blade Runner 2049 ;)
3:07 - YES..
10:43 - YES
"This is a role Tom Hanks would of played" ???😯WTF That is the most ridiculous statement!! This is a very understated performance. That's like saying Scooby Doo would have been wonderful in this role! The film Arrival is a masterpiece but the interviewer states "I watched it last night and this is something Tom Hanks would have played"! They should have just finished on the shot of Amy's mouth dropping open! LOL
+21 years Old to me ! :)
She is the BEST on-screen crier ever... haven't seen these movies yet but in all her past movies she cries at least once.
1:00 - "_/ LOOVEEEE TENDER...LOVE HIT.... NEVER ..LET ME GOOOO.... YOU HAVE MADE.."
She wanted to be an Ice skater and she looks very similar to Tonya Harding.... She would've been an ideal casting choice for I, Tonya....
She should be in Always Sunny. Give her a nice small role for an episode.
So what does the DP/30 represent or stand for?
David Poland - the interviewer’s name and 30 is because usually the interviews are arojnd half an hour. They were when he started out and now sometimes can be longer.
7:16 - LIGHT ON THE NOSE...
16:28 Tom Hanks cameo/mention
5:37 - MY LINE..
11:18 - CELL 12.. .. I READ!
3:25 - CELL 12... CHESS TABLE BEHIND ...FROM UP
6:52 - SHOUT..
8:30 - CELL 12... AND ..."MATHMAGICS"
8:04 - CELL 11.
9:22 - CELL 12
ten people clicked on the dislike button...unbelievable!
amy haters. she has so many haters. mainly DC fans and lawrence fans.
Don't you worry Amy, no one likes Susan nor Edward ahaha. I'm reading the book. I still haven't got to see much of Susan's back story, ctually in the book, as far as I go, I'm getting to know Edward and Tony more than Susan. Or Tony along with Susan, sometimes they are so alike.
By the time the movie ended, I had lost all sympathy for Edward. He couldn't take any criticism, no matter how constructive...he blamed everything on Susan, refusing to even consider that MAYBE he had a part in driving her away in the first place...and to top it off, his spiteful, petty behavior indicated by the ending. Susan grew up. Edward never did.
Agree totally. I thought she made the right choice leaving him.
4:19 - OFF CELL 13.... CHESS TABLE...
It would be so cool to find a celebrity like in that movie misery. They could teach you how to become an academy award winning actor while their ankles heal.
What's this obsession with Tom Hanks and this movie with the interviewer? He keeps bringing him up all through the 3 interviews I saw about this movie..
2:23 - CORAÇÃO ..
5:17 - 2931
12:03 - SHHHIIIITTTTTTTTTT
6:12 - >◇
I wonder if an "Arrival II" sequel is in the works? I would like to see the aliens learn English as her character learns their language.
9:16 - 22
9:43 - A BIT OFF CELL 13
0:47 - 29
2:01 - 52
1:36 - 5229
Amy is my new girlfriend
Hey David Poland, you should do a conversation with Cheryl Boone Isaac about the OscarSoWhite controversy. With your in-depth cinema knowledge, her industry knowledge and your complimentary style of chatting, she's bound to tell you so much. That would be an engaging and educational conversation
Not even nominated for Arrival...???
I thought the interviewer was young man!LOL!
12:03 - SOURCE THE TRUTH, DIMENSION THE IMPACT, IT LIEES TO YOU, HOW YOU ARE GOING TO REACT!!!!!!!!!
Wow...this is loud! Check your levels.
I survived a pandemic to see Amy Adams - *Amy Adams* listed as Worst Actor by the Razzies.
I hate this world.
that was troll to teach lesson.
She reminds me of Emma Watson
Diego Pisfil just that she can actually act
I wish they picked meryl streep instead of amy adams
meryl is overrated prick.
3:59 - 2222 .... "EXPRESS 2222"
