Everyone's talking about how great Chester and Mike sound (which they do, they sound great) but can we talk about the masterpiece Joe Hahn created in the background of the amazing vocals!! This song is perfection.

It's not just Joe Hahn who creates the "backing" song solely, Mike Shinoda is a melodic genius, it's probably a joint effort with Mike and a couple others.
The 6 guys are GODS.
Literally love that part. That part and the slow down with Mike + Chester are the reason Blackout is so feckin' incredible. It just REALLY ties the whole song together. You get the whole angsty stuff in the first half of the song, then it gets funky af with Hahn's work, then the song is wrapped up with a nice big fluffy bow with the Mike + Chester harmonizing at the end.

I love how the first half is super angry and hard, and then it transitions into a softer, more hopeful sounding part. This song really shows Linkin Park's talent and how unique they are. Can never get sick of this song, it's so good.

I like how Mike and Chester reverse roles in this song, with Chester almost rapping at the beginning while Mike sings the soft vocals at the end.

Goddamn, it took me a while to realize what the whole album was about. Honest to god, I'm surprised I didn't notice sooner. The MLK Jr. "Beyond Vietnam" speech distorting eerily in "Wisdom, Justice, and Love", Burning in the Sky's "Swimming in the Smoke" line. The title of the album should have been a dead giveaway... "A Thousand Suns".... That's how the Japanese described seeing the nuclear explosions of Little Boy and Fatman. It was like "staring at A Thousand Suns."

After a lot of thinking I have come to the conclusion that what makes LP different from other bands is that they mix so many sounds together making the track awesome.Most of the sounds one does not even pay attention to.

I remember the time this came out, and with all the songs that didnt sound like the first couple albums, People complained about that LP was not the same and was bad. At first listen i thought WOW this is different, then starting to listen to the whole albums and found out what made this so special. The whole story it tells you troughout the albums is FRICKING AMAZING !! The emotions it woke up in me, i will never forget. LP FOREVER !!!!

It's interesting to me how many people don't seem to realize that this one is from a concept album, and album about fear of nuclear war and death, and that this song represents the dropping of a nuclear bomb, thematically.

I just realized today that Blackout is a song about gaslighting. It took me how many years before I realized that and I cried upon singing along to the lyrics and screaming NOOOOOOOOOO. Thank you, Chester. Thank you Linkin Park.

I've been a fan of LP for a while now, but I just discovered this song a few days ago. It's quickly become another favorite of mine, especially the first half (in my opinion). It's really catchy, and I find it quite unique how the background instrumental is relatively calm compared to the vocals. Additionally, as noted by (a) previous commenter(s), Mike and Chester reversed roles here, which is another unique point. It's done really well, and I really like the result. Great song! I love LP! :)
