    Have had the ghost issue following screen replacement. Having re-programmed the screen with an EEPROM device I assumed that would prevent the issue. I guess there is more to it than that and I wonder whether you could shed any more light on it. There certainly seems to be a lot of misinformation out there regarding theses things.
    Thanks for the great video.

    Thanks for this. This issue has not been highlighted much. Is this recommended for all screen replacements, even if they are labeled as "original new" by the supplier?

    Hi, I’m having this problem now with my Xr. Right now it’s my third LCD that’s having this issue. The first one the original that came with the phone first broke and I had it replaced in a shop. They must have re programmed the screen since I didn’t lose the True Tone. After some time I changed myself the screen for an OEM screen and it works fine the first ~10 seconds you turn on the screen, and then this touch screen problems begin. I hadn’t had this 3rd screen re programmed since I don’t have that tool.
    Should I take it to a shop and get it programmed or make it change the iC? I don’t have the original lcd no more. Only the second one.

    So how would you recommend someone like me to do this swap?
    I have replaced many iphone screens before and my latest change Xr with OEM cracked screen to a replacement screen worked fine for 12/24 hours then started ghosting. I have researched what your have you have videoed and i need to swap over the ic from the OEM screen also….. but that is next level stuff for me and beyond my capabilities. Any advice on how to get this achieved for me?

      Swap it out for another display that works and cross your fingers that the touch stays good after iOS updates, if you don’t have the ability to swap ic.
      Or pay the Apple tax and pay an Apple authorised place to replace the display at a considerably higher price as they can ‘calibrate’ it afterwards so this doesn’t happen.

Also, what are people saying if you change the screen you need to get it programmed

    So I am trying my first one, I have some questions though. What stencil works to reball? Do I need to mask the FPC before soldering the IC. The mask from the FPC came off with the underfill. Can this be achieved with an eeprom programmer?

    I got an erratic touch after an iOS update :( what would you then suggest I do, since I doubt the touch IC was moved over? Is the phone now broken or can the touch be revived?

    • @rikibaker1578
      @rikibaker1578  Před 2 lety

      You can use another screen which works but it can have the issue again after another iOS update. It would be nice if apple didn’t do this.

    @Riki Kim Thanks for this video. I have an OEM replacement screen for an iphone XR that originally had an LG screen. Are you saying that if I transfer the IC regardless of the make of the replacement screen it should solve any touch issues?

    • @rikibaker1578
      @rikibaker1578  Před 3 lety

      From my testing yes it works fine with no touch issues regardless of whether the screen is LG or Toshiba BUT I am not happy enough with it to confirm quite yet. We do manufacture pair our new screens as well as swap IC just to be safe so dataset is only devices that have had screen repairs elsewhere before arriving to us which is small.

  • @DannStarrElectronics

    Can we say for certain that the phone does need it's IC from the original screen, or is there still a possibility that while it was faulty, it could have been a connection issue between the "faulty" screen and it's own IC - so reballing may have helped, rather than swapping the IC?

    • @rikibaker1578
      @rikibaker1578  Před 4 lety

      DannStarr Electronics next video I’ll test the screen on a second phone prior to swapping ic to show the screen is fine all along. I’m sure that screen would have worked fine on another phone before ic swapping but I did leave that gap in the video, it was seated with underfill etc. Good to plug these gaps for future videos though 👌
