Can you imagine performing this song for Led Zeppelin? With an audience of millions? From Nancy's opening guitar solo to Ann's vocals to the no-expense-spared backups, this was a flawless and overwhelming cover.
For real! How about Shayne Fontayne doing Page's legendary solo in front of the guitar god himself? Absolutely one of the best performances I have ever heard of any kind.
Yup. Big brass balls to be a guitarist and play that song to Jimmy Page. Kudos to him for doing that.

The singer is Ann Wilson and the guitarist is her sister Nancy Wilson. Heart is a band but they are the core of Heart and are backed up here by superb musicians including on drums the son of original drummer John Bonham. The three men they often showed watching are Led Zeppelin as this is a tribute to them.

This was in 2012 and Anne Wilson (the singer) was 62 at that time. These two are absolute rock legends and this tribute is EPIC! As others pointed out, the remaining members of Led Zeppelin are watching, which had to be nervewracking, but they KILLED this!

Heart has been playing great music since the 70's. Ann & Nancy Wilson are legends. They have even been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I just saw them at the Hollywood Bowl in LA in 2019. They still rock! Check out songs from them like Straight On, Barracuda, Alone, These Dreams, Magic Man, Crazy on You....so many many more.
I've seen them twice in the last few years and they are still outstanding! Don't know why it took me so long to see them and I'll go again
I love the fact that they knew this song could not be done any better than how Led Zeppelin did it so they made it special. It was done in a way that has never been done before and will never be again. A true tribute and epic in its own right.

Everybody was there! Robert Plant had tears in his eyes. Heart are the 2 sisters; Ann Wilson (vocalist) and her sister Nancy (on guitar). Heart has many hits: "Crazy on You", "These Dreams", "Alone", "Magic Man", "What About Love", "Dog and Butterfly" and "Barracuda". Ann Wilson has one of the best female voices out there. Heart is an absolutely iconic band. Ann has one of the best female voices around. If you get a chance check out barracuda from the '70s. It really showcases her voice.

P.S. JIMMY Page saw HEART early in their career playing Led Zeppelin songs... he said that they were the only band that could cover his music good enough. He gave them permission to use Zeppelin songs anytime they wanted.

This performance shook Plant up a bit. This song was his child. If you listen to the words, it tells of the choice in life we all need to make. “There are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, and there’s still time to change the road you’re on.”
The drummer is the son of the band’s original drummer of led zeppelin who has died a few years before this took place he was honouring his father by playing the drums for the song
You need to check out all of Heart songs. Led Zepplin was known for not allowing others to cover their songs because they didn't like hearing others play them. Except this one. They absolutely loved it.

I am impressed by the confidence they had to perform one of the most iconic songs in rock in front of the men who wrote it.
I met Ann and Nancy Wilson years ago in a little neighborhood nightclub in Seattle. They were just out having some fun. They sang a couple of songs while the band took a break. I had a drink with them and talked awhile. Such cool, down to earth women! Ann still has her incredible voice-singing to the back of the room past all those instruments and 2 choirs. She and Nancy are still amazing! Check out Heart doing Barracuda, Magic Man and Crazy on You. It's touching how much Led Zeppelin loved the tribute.

Dude if you get a chance you should listen to the whole Led Zeppelin tribute at Kennedy Center. Jack Black was host and besides Heart, had performances by Lenny Kravitz, Foo Fighters and Kid Rock. It was epic. But Heart’s performance will go down in history as one of the best covers ever. And to do it in front of Led Zeppelin, we’ll that’s just unbelievable. ❤️ the reaction!

Heart is an amazing band. I absolutely love their music. Some of their songs are Crazy On You, Barracuda, Magic Man, These Dreams and my favorite Alone. Just to name a few. They have so many fantastic songs. You really need to listen to more of their music.
Heart was very big in the 70s and 80s. In a time when glam and hair band rockers tried their best to look like pretty women, Ann and Nancy Wilson marched themselves up onto the stage and announced "Hold my beer!"

Heart was one of the first groups I saw in concert when I was in high school. My twin sister and I were fans. They are a great band. Nancy Wison is the female guitarist. Heart has some great music! I think my favorite Heart album is “Dog and Butterfly”. There are many great songs on it!
Heart has had a number of different members but the two constant are Ann (lead singer) and Nancy (guitarist) Wilson. They are sisters. They had many hits in the 70s and 80s. The drummer is Jason Bonham. He is the son of John Bonham, who was part of Led Zeppelin and died tragically of an OD. That was when they band stopped. The remaining musicians and choir are various people put together to create this masterpiece. This is in my opinion the greatest tribute cover to a band ever. It is near perfection and truly gives you goosebumps. Ann Wilson is one of the greatest lead singers ever (male or female). If you want to hear some of Heart's music listen to Barracuda, Crazy on You, Magic Man to start with. They were their earlier 70s hits.

1967. They originally played in Seattle, and Vancouver Canada. I am from Vancouver, and married a Jazz musician, Barrie and I were in recording studio when they were recording their early works. They were so talented, their back up band were originally two brothers that were dating the Wilson sisters. The back up musicians have changed and are very good. The Wilson sisters wrote many of their songs, sang songs written by others but the Unique sound of Ann Wilson was instantly recognizable to her fans. This performance is a religious experience in my book, hearing it just makes me happy to be alive and so very grateful for these gifted and talented musicians. Fun fact, the Asian man in the audience who they briefly show closing his eyes while he enjoys the performance is Yo-Yo Ma, one of the best cellists in the world; we also see Bonnie Raitt rocking out - she's county western royalty. I love how this video shows how everyone can appreciate amazing music, and it transcends genre, age & race.
Sometimes all you need in your life is a little Ann and Nancy Wilson and the bonus is them doing Zepplin. The drummer is the son of deceased Zepplin drummer Jon Bonham. This was the ultimate cover and did it justice.

And now he's down there on the stage, wearing his dad's trademark bowler, playing one of the band's most iconic songs. What must those old rockers have been feeling!

Went to an April Wine concert in 1974 and got the pleasure of hearing Heart as their back up band. What a treat to have those two great bands together. This is the best cover of Stairway To Heaven. Thanks for sharing.

That singer is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with her band Heart and her name is Ann Wilson. She is widely known as the greatest female hard rock singer of all time. Heart has 21 Top 40 singles spanning four decades, and 7 Top 10 studio albums from the 70s through the 2010s. Heart's most famous song is called Barracuda, and they have a number of songs you would probably recognized that are hard rock classics. They also have a power ballad called "Alone" which also a classic. If you want to react to another song of their's I'd recommend Barracuda, Crazy on You, Alone, Magic Man, Never (out of their songs that have videos).

This was an honorary award dedication for Zeppelins contribution to the music business. There were awards for others as well. You might want to watch the whole show because other artists did some other songs by Zeppelin and Jack Black who did the introduction was hysterically funny. The Kennedy awards always have the first family present. It has been a yearly tradition with the exception of 2016-2020 I’ll just leave at that!🤦♀️ John Bonham who was the original drummer and passed away was honored by his son Jason playing the drums. Also check out Celebration Day 07 full concert on CZcams. It was the last time Led Zeppelin got together. Jason of course played the drums back in 2007 with the rest of the band and he plays just like dad. Even Robert Plant said the he could feel John Bonham channel through Jason. They were just as good then as they were back in the day. Led Zeppelin was the best band ever from the 70s!😎

The drummer is the son of Led Zeppelin's drummer who died years ago and those hats are what he used to wear. BTW when it comes to Stairway to Heaven i listen to the original studio version.
Anne Wilson is the best female Rock and Roll singer of all time. Heart was one of the big hit makers of the 70s and early 80s. Saw them live at Alpine Valley near Milwaukee in 1979, fantastic show.
I have watched this performance so many times. I love it!! Led Zeppelin are in tearing up because they never expected to see John Bonham's, son, Jason, to be playing. It was a complete surprise. Led Zeppelin quite performing once John Bonham died. They only started playing again, together, once Jason came on the scene. Jason was always loved by all of his fathers friends. Heart has been around forever and are legends in their own right. When they were starting out in the 70's they often covered Zeppelin songs and usually did a Zeppelin song or two in their concerts once they hit it big on their own. They have had a solid relationship with the members of Zeppelin for years and have had their blessing to cover the songs. Ann is one of the most talented singers in the world and there would be a very short list of singers that could even be suggested to perform this song at a level near hers. Heart is huge Zeppelin fans and they showed it in the performance.
Heart was the house band where I worked in Vancouver Canada!!! Lol Can Harry's in the seventies lol!!! They always covered Zepplin!!! Was happy to see them do it for Zepplin!!! John Bonham son played drums as as tribute to his dad!!!! His dad has passed!

Saw the 'Heart Rocking Heaven' tour not long after this in Victoria, Canada. Full set of Heart then an encore of Zeppelin with Jason Bonham on drums. Awesome. 'No Quarter' done well in a 7500 arena was epic.
One of their lesser known power ballads was called How Do I Get You Alone. I think you'd really like that one as well.

This is a yearly event held by the president to honor the some of the best music in history. All of those performers sang led Zeppelin songs. It's called the Kennedy honors.
Jack Black started the Led Zepplin Tribute with an excellent history of Led Zepplin along with his humor that is irresistible! Adogg, you should go onto CZcams and watch the entire tribute from the start to finish, you will be blown away! I don’t know if you know the history of the Zep but their only drummer John Bonham died and after that, the group never performed Stairway to Heaven. The drummer you see in that performance was John Bonham’s son Jason Bonham and he was playing his heart out for his Dad up in Heaven. This is why you saw tears in Robert Plants eyes and also for the performance everyone did. The derby hats were worn by everyone because John Bonham always wore one, such a beautiful tribute to John and Led Zepplin! Heart is just the two sisters. Check out their hits like ‘Barracuda,’ ‘Magic Man,’ ‘Dog and Butterfly,’ to name a few. Heart is so talented! They really got it!!!🥰

I didn't see all the comments, but this performance was from 'The Kennedy Center Honors' ..., which is a series, I think annually, where they honor various performers and others. Presidents often attend, but not always, and they get tons of volunteers for backups, instrumentals, etc. Heart is good but they got a lot of help to fill in this production. Still, its the best non-Plant cover of Stairway I've ever heard

There is a CZcams live video from the year 1976 I think by them called "Soul of The Sea". Check that out. It is quite wondeful to see The Wilson sisters young - and excellent, Ann has always been grazy good singer.
