  • Welcome to another Video! Today we're performing a Full 3 "Hole" Oil change on a 2011 Harley-Davidson Street Glide FLHX 103. However this will be the same for the majority of Harley Davidson touring models. A 3 "Hole" Oil Change includes Motor Oil, Transmission Oil and the Primary Oil. When performing an Oil Change it is highly recommended to do a full "once over" on your bike. Ex. is your T-Clocs. if you are unsure of T-Clocs here is a checklist from the motorcycle safety foundation or MSF. www.msf-usa.org/downloads/T-C...

    Why not use the mobile1 in all three holes? On the bottle is says it’s to be used for motor oil, gear oil and transmission gear?

  • @sprintcar-acematt5175
    @sprintcar-acematt5175 Před 2 lety +3

    Why are you adding 80W-140 GEAR OIL in the primary? In the trans this is fine. Primary and engine 20W-50 synthetic motor oil.

    • @MotoHeadKyle
      @MotoHeadKyle  Před 2 lety +1

      Actually you can run gear oil in the primary. 20W-50 crankcase oil converts to 75W-90 in the chaincase

    • @angrymulegarage23
      @angrymulegarage23 Před 29 dny

      I was gonna comment the same thing I believe you put it backwards. The gear oil should’ve went into the transmission and then the mobile one should’ve went into the primary. No?

    Kyle does your dad (employee...lol) put any heat thread paste on the plugs? I don't! Torco came in today 😉
    On the Oil filter have you used the WIX XP Synthetic oil filter? HD's is just a generic filter. Really!
    On gas for the bike. Im a M8 107. Do you use the middle octane gas or high octane?
    Thanks!

    • @MotoHeadKyle
      @MotoHeadKyle  Před 2 lety

      HAHA not an employee. That was his bike.. he works on his I work on mine🤣 we don’t use anything on the plugs.. other than the o-rings. Harley’s can sometimes have oil pressure issues if you use certain aftermarket filters, that’s why we stick with HD and also because their always in stock when I need them. I always use 93-94 octane.. if I use anything lower I add octane booster. If you use anything lower than 91 it will throw a check engine light and idle like
      crap.

    I purchased all the items needed to do the 3-hole change. However, when I reread the manual (2021 FLTRXSE - CVO RG) it indicates that I need to change the engine oil at 5k, the primary at 10k, and the transmission at 20k. Based on your 3 hole change video, you do change all 3 every 5k or do you follow the manual? If you do change all 3 at 5k, can you share your reasons for doing so? Thank you very much.

    • @MotoHeadKyle
      @MotoHeadKyle  Před 2 lety +1

      You can follow the manual, nothing wrong with that but I always change all 3 because an extra 2 quarts isn’t that much money and that way I keep it consistent. Just how I do it. I also like to just because everything is air cooled. Just my preference.

    • @pd6569
      @pd6569 Před 2 lety +1

      @@MotoHeadKyle Thank you very much for your response and for sharing while you do it this way. I agree, it certainly is inexpensive. In your last comment you mentioned you also like to change the oil because it is air cooled. Forgive my ignorance, but if you don’t mind again, can you explain the significance of this? Many thanks, ride and be safe

    • @MotoHeadKyle
      @MotoHeadKyle  Před 2 lety

      @@pd6569 In simple terms Harley only uses the outside air flow to cool everything and keep it from overheating, so therefore if you’re sitting in traffic idling and stuff the heat will eventually break down the oil so therefore the oil isn’t as effective for liberating purposes

    I bought my first Harley. Road King 2019 107. Dyna2 system. William Harley put 3 different bays for oil in. I was really taken back on that one! Is Torco trans oil easy to find?
    Should look at a floor lift jack at Harbor freight. Not like yours. Just the jack off floor. Any suggestions.

      What a sweet first bike! Congrats! Torco is hit or miss at my local HD Dealers. However the dealership I use they always have it in stock. I know Amazon Carries it, but it’s more pricey than what I pay at HD for a quart. Honestly I always just use the generic HD Filters. Never had an issue. I also have one of those floor jacks… works great 👍🏻

      for some reason this guy put gear oil in the primary. I didn't know that was a thing. 20w-50 oil specifically designed for V-twins goes in all three holes. However you can also use gear oil in the transmission for a smoother shift. The manual states that you can use either but the motor oil in the transmission will cause a louder shift noise
