Another thing make sure your evap purge valve isn't staying open,it will add extra vacuum to throttle and also add fuel vapors to your valves from the 2extra pcv valve
my 20 silverado 6.2 got a code p 0499 after fueling i think i over fueled . someone told me it was the charcoal canister and someone said it was the purge valve any recommendations thank you
This is one of the best videos I've seen.
Thank you.
Great way to explain this problem and process.

My truck threw these exact error codes. Replaced the fuel pump power control module and it fixed my issue. Thanks so much for making this video, saved me a ton of money!!
Just wanted to say thank you tremendously for your video. You diagnosed what I had an issue with to a T. The module on my truck too went bad and without your video, I would've had an expensive run in with the Dealer!

Same problem with my 2019 Silverado RST. Thank you for explaining everything and showing where it all is. You simplified everything that the dealer would’ve charged hundreds for and it is a simple “plug & play” part. Now, why are so many of these failing?
I’m not sure but a lot of these new generation of computers are very sensitive to electrical surges. If something shorts out in these new vehicles it will take out a module or more then one
I believe it is a defect from factory, this should be a recall since everyone is having the same issue
Great video not to long and right to the point.
Thank you for watching
Thanks for the video I’m having the same problem. So I know what to do.

Great video, i have the same thing on a 2018 suburban. I notice the module is different for the 18. I have replaced the vent canister and purge solenoid but the truck keeps failing the evap solenoid valve open test….
yes, the 2019 and up has a different system, they are very similar but different, I don't remember seen this problem on the 2018 and down. I will gladly take a look at it if you are close by, it takes a little bit of testing, but it can be done. have you tried to replace the module yet?

Aweseome video, thanks for posting this. Is it just two 10mm bolts that hold the fuel pump power control module onto the bracket?
Yes. I thinks is a torx bit, I don’t remember well
I know this is an older video, but I'm having the same issue. I replaced the Vent Valve, Canister and the Solenoid up by the intake, and P0499 EVAP System Vent Valve Control Circuit High keeps popping back up. Sometimes it will go out on it's own, and then come back on. I notice when the fuel tank is on Full, I don't seem to have a problem. Once I get to about a half tank, the light pops back on. Totally stumped here, and wonder if I need to "throw another part" at it, such as this module
Could be possible that the module is going out. All of this trucks 2019 and up are having this issue. I will just wait till the check engine light stays on permanently unless you need it to be inspected
Got this same code at 41000 miles. Replaced the evap vent solenoid and erased the code, lo and behold the code came back. Gonna try the fuel control module next but it’s just sad to have a CEL in less than 100K miles. I feel like at this point GM should recall it considering it’s becoming a common issue.
yes, I notice that on these new trucks. definitely there should be a recall for it. I'm glad I came across this problem and figure it out. it seems like has been helping others. Thank you for watching like and subscribe it helps the channel.
Can you post a link or part number for that valve
I had a fuse that was blow, and I changed it and no check engine light on and drive it and next day it came back on, it was a blown fuse again what will cause for it to keep blowing the fuse?
First of all, good video. Very informative. Thank you! Two suggestions to go from good to GREAT Video. One, a little WD40 on that roller you're laying on would be huge! Two, video editing. Super easy to edit out all the times you walked away to get tools or start the truck. Then your video would be shorter. Anyway, just suggestions, not complaining. Thanks again!
Yes I’m learning. I did spry it with wd40. I have been editing in my last vides that way they are not too long but sometimes there is too much info to show. Thank you very much
I do like your criticism. You making good points thank you again

Do you have to program the new fuel control module or is it just plug in play.
There’s no need for programming, it’s just plug in play. I will recommend you to get it from your local dealer brand new. They will give you the right part once you give them your vin number
i ordered the evap condensor module and it didn't come with the hoses attached ... should i use the old ones? if anyone knows or has done this it would be very helpful.
I think you got the wrong one. I would try to get the OEM from the dealer, it's not much of a difference
Can this Fuel Pump Power Control Module 13540028 be used on 2019 Silverado 2.7L 4x4 crew cab??
I will recommend you to go to your local dealer ship and give them your vin number so they can give you the correct part. In today’s day computers can look the same but the might no be the same
Does the fuel pump module need to be programmed?
No programming needed
Im looking at a truck with this same issues. Can this cause any long term problems ? Or once thebpart is replaced the issue is gone ? Thanks !
I replaced the fuel control module and my issue went out right away. I’m not sure what you mean with long term problems. Can you elaborate a little bit?
@antonioaguirre6166 I'm just curious if anything else could be damaged because this part broke. I'm looking at buying a truck with this exact issue, but the dealership plans to replace the part before I purchase.
Oh no, my friend drove his truck with that problem for almost a year till the inspection was up. I seen couple of trucks with this issue before. I think is common failure on these trucks. Let the dealer fix it you will save your self at least $500.
Just make sure they fix it right
@@antonioaguirre6166 really appreciate the info !
also when you unlock your truck you hear fuel pump engaged. at time mine will start making a clicking sound
if you have a smart key the pump will come on for a few seconds.

I replaced the purge valve under the hood already had the same code so should it be the module too then that needs replacing?
If you already replace the vent solenoid and the purge solenoid and you have the same codes I did. Yes most likely is the module. 99% of the time the fuel control module goes out on the these trucks. 2019 and up. I hear there is a shortage now.
yes, the p0442 is for small leak and the p0455 is for large leaks. it sounds like you have a leak somewhere. the fuel tank cannot build pressure. cambia el purge solenoid
necesitas hacer un smoke test para ver donde se escapa la pression
Oh okay I’ll switch the purge valve out and if the check engine lights pops up again I’ll buy a smoke machine and test it out thanks bro
My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 liter is reading the P0498 code only....I changed out the Vapor Canister Solenoid and still not working right....They say to change the canister too cause it could be plugged up....Did you change the Vapor Canister Vent Valve also ???? Fuel control module will probably be the last thing I change...
No I did not change it. Since this is an electrical issue more then mechanical issue. Control circuit low voltage means that there is a voltage drop somewhere in the electrical system. And that’s why the evap valve is not able to close
@antonioaguirre6166 So do you think my problem is the Fuel Control Module also ???? And thank you...
@@BadBoy31Roy did you follow the steps I showed you on the video? Did you check the fuse? Are you able to see the data on the scanner like it shows? It’s kind of hard for me to give u an answer since I’m not able to see the data.
But most likely is on the electrical side so check the fuse and if it’s ok then the problem will be on the control module side since there are only 2 wires that control the valve
@antonioaguirre6166 Honestly I just checked the fuse and changed the solenoid....I don't have a Scanner...Code was given to me at the Chevrolet Dealership....Yeah kinda hard but was trying save money for my dad....

Did yall replace both??
yes I did
i’m only getting the p0498 code can’t erase it but don’t know what part to get pls help i checked the fuse and everything but which part should clear the code
99 % of the time is the fuel control module, these trucks have this issue. I believe is a factory problem, they should do a recall on them.
