Serana from _Skyrim_ comes to mind. So many fans want her to be an official potential romantic partner that there are mods to let you woo and marry her.
I was devastated when I found out I couldn't romance her my first time playing.
If only... But there is something charming about having a vampire BFF to adventure with before going home to have dinner with my lovely werewife.
I clicked on the notification specifically to check if Serana was included. Maybe Bethesda was giving us a life lesson on rejection
Those fans always struck me as a bit off. Like I get it, but that companion has a fairly big reason for avoiding, if not entirely being put off by, romance that intentionally modding that out seems kinda icky
I am as devastated as you are alright. Serana is kinda a very good choice, but they sadly haven't add her into the list...
TO THE COMMENT SECTION VERSION!
"Thirstier that a dehydrated man trying to eat his way out of a collapsed salt mine."
Well THAT is a visual and a half. [makes note to use later.]
Same 😂
To be fair to Raphael ... his VA went literally all out, he is essentially a Devil Bard (The one class you can't recruit and romance), And he actually keeps his word on what he says to you. Like ... if you didn't want people thirsty, why did you Haarlep??
Did you not notice that "haarlep" is "raphael" all jumbled up?
Oh I definitely noticed, but their personalities are quite different and I am the annoying type of gay who needs The Right Vibe of Guy (Unhinged Evil Villain from a 90s Cartoon) @@trise2033
Haarlep also straight up tells you that Raph is bad in bed, so... 🤔
The character I always felt this way about is Brynjolf from Skyrim. Like you, practically, go through the whole thieves guild quest line with him and you can’t even romance him, NOR can you have him as a travel companion. I especially always loved how he had a different voice actor than the other characters you interact with
Its an absolute insult, especially when you find out he went to look for you when you didn't come back from snowveil sanctum! Gah.
Yet another missed opportunity on Bethesda part. Like maybe I want the man to be my kids dad and not their uncle . We like options
I mean mods... You also can't romance Ulfric despite *that voice* but mods were made for it...
Same. Him calling the Dragonborn Lass was also major bonus points for me. 😂
If you can romance Curie, the literal robot in a synth body, you should be able to romance Nick Valentine.
Guess it's not in his programming. Or he lied about "all" the parts?
But with his half-decomposed appearance, hm...
@tubensalat1453 Speaking of a half-decomposed appearance, I don't think that's a turnoff for the Sole Survivor. Hancock is an option.
If you can romance Curie, why would you want to romance anyone else? The happy ending for that game is the Sole Survivor settling down with Curie to make the Commonwealth a better place for their son, Codsworth.
I was so upset when I found out he wasn’t romanceable so downloaded the mod. Not the same but it helps.
@@OptimusSledge Oh, don't I know it, but the heart can be fickle. When I tried to romance Curie something glitched and she wouldn't progress to the final conversation option. Kept being given the option but it just wouldn't work. So close and yet so far. I was gutted.
I think it eventually fixed itself or a mod fixed it, but still... heart-breaking.
What's confusing about Fallout 4 not letting you romance Nick Valentine is the fact that while you're doing the Far Harbor DLC, you can have a one-night stand with a robobrain, of all things.
Valentine has downloaded human memories and emotions, so like the robobrain, it is _possible_
I suppose he's just not interested?
@@chefbreccia2642 Yeah, he is still kinda grieving for human-Valentine's girl, so perhaps he just isn't up for a relationship at that point. Oh well, there's always AO3, I suppose 🤷♂
You can also romance Curie once you get her consciousness transferred into a synth body.
@@elijahh2220 Romancing human Curie is a must. She's such a sweetheart.
i wanted nick and deacon the most and they weren't romancable fml
When Mass Effect was mentioned, I was sure they were going to talk about Wrex. I've heard a lot more people requesting Wrex than Joker.
Or krogans in general. Could have wrex or a female from the grunt thresher maw mission. Ones a long standing character and one could have been an amusing way to introduce a new one
@@vexxama I mean, there is a request for sexual relations for Shepard (Bro or Fem) after helping Grunt defeat the Thresher Maw.
Joker surprises me. Either Shepard would break his pelvis in the sack! I always wanted a fling with Gianna, who kisses Shepard if you do everything right after reuniting with her in ME2. A shame you can't seal the deal with her, and that she's completely absent from ME3.
Let me bone a krogan, Bioware, you cowards!
My first thought was Samara! alas...
Man, apart from Takemura, I wish we had a corpo romance option in general. It's the only lifepath that didn't have one. Panam is a Nomad, Judy is essentially a StreetKid, and we even got a bonus with Kerry being a rockerboy and River being an ex cop.
That one time encounter with Meredith Stout could have been the corpo option.
Nah, flaming crotchman and aurora are needed
something tells me it MIGHT have, but time constraint had it cut
Romance options in CP2077 really felt so limited. The ones that are there are nice, but there aren't many, and several that could have been interesting partners go away after short side-mission chains.. They could have opened it up a bit by removing the gender restrictions and give players more options in a playthrough, as most games do for this very reason.
Meredith Stout should have fulfilled that role more. Was always disappointed that she didn't play a bigger role.
The Meredith bit was extremely well played. Like her initial attitude vs her later is interesting, would have had good potential for a romance. But yes, Takemura 😭. Oh, I know there’s a decent fanbase that is crazy about Oda.
Well, looks like Jane got into the studio late at night and slipped her 7 things list script into the rotation, apparently without Andy and Mike noticing.
Andy noticed but is too afraid to bring it up.
Mike doesn't care.
Serana from Skyrim. She is the star of the Dawnguard DLC who can be convinced to quit being a vampire by the player but still refuses any romance.
It's implied that she is still getting over the trauma from the Daughter of Coldharbor initiation.
@@emberblade7430 Must have had a train going on her
The thing about Skyrim is the romances are entirely platonic marriages in terms of gameplay. And considering her past it does make sense she’d not want any part in any religious ceremony. I’d wager that if any sort of adaptation were to come out they’d probably make her the “love interest” where they’re just together rather than a married couple
@@will_from_pa That's my read on the issue as well.
They could have at least had some type of partner mechanic for her@@will_from_pa
Brynjolf from Skyrim should be on this list. Who could resist that voice?
Someone's gotta have made a mod for that. Especially now that AI voices are a thing. (My personal "would bang for just the voice" is Ulfric. "Skyrim is for the Nords" hits even worse after...everything since 2016. But Ulfric's super deep VA, Vladmimir Kulich, does things to me.)
I would be happy in a throuple with Brynjolf and Teldryn Sero.
Lol, you guys didn't go into how much people hate Demetrius. If he had been a likeable character most people would be disappointed but wouldn't thirst over Robin so much, but there's many things that make people hate him so people also believe that Robin deserved better (and that they can provide it). He's really rude to Robin in his heart event when he gets her a tomato when she asks for a fruit. He treats Robin's son from her previous marriage, Sebastian, really poorly, heavily favouring his daughter Maru instead. And he constantly threatens you as you become closer to Maru.
And that is why I marry Seb and take him out of that house ☺️
Speaking of dwarves (dwarfs?) and Dragon Age. The worst thing about Inquisition was that they threw in flirt lines for Scout Harding, but no romance. Eventually, they threw in a random line in the final DLC confirming the Scout Harding romance. They didn't show us anything from it, though.
Right? I was so mad when I found out you can only really flirt with her but nothing more. 😭
That might have something to do with their height and people’s predjudiced opinions.
This is something I expect in DA4! I dare you bioware 😂 I love Harding!!
Doesn't Scout Harding end up with Sera if they're both available because I really enjoy that pairing........the mayhem!
@@Calekoflight Sera ends up with Dagna. Another lovely dwarven lady ❤
Baldurs Gate 3 Players : Hey, we can f*** a bear AND a squid. The devil is a lateral move AT WORSE.
He's just not that into you, sorry. Unless maybe if you happen to be a devil named Raphael.
I mean... you can f*** two devils... Mizora (kind of), and Haarlep (who can literally take on the voice and appearance of Raphael at your behest, or a female version of him)
@@mistahanansi2264, well, "Haarlep" is an anagram for "Raphael," after all.
@@Alsebramy god, why i didn't think of that. Even though my actual name is Raphael.
ah.... poor sqirel... but knowing people, there already will be already mode for romancing nonromancible and probably a few others with... maximising their... accessories and would not be suprised at "positions" mode :D surprised
Worthy mention Lace Harding, the lead scout in Dragon Age Inquisition. The cute and nice dwarven girl was such a likeable character, way easier to like her than most romance options. I remenber many players wanted to romance her.
You can romance her it's just not deep at all
@@colinnixon7739 That was added in a patch after demand from fans
She was so cute! 😅
I tell you, the way I f***ing WHEEZED at Varric in sleeveless armor. 😂 Also, it's not Lady Trevelyan that I wish could romance Varric. It's Lady Hawke! They tease you with the one romance dialogue after the encounter with the demon.
Let's not forget Garrus and Tali are only romanceable in Mass Effect 2 and 3 because people made a fuss about them NOT being romanceable in the first one
And Garrus is only romanceable with a female Sheppard....
@@elecrom_9757 And Tali is only romanceable by a male Shepard.
They were fools to think the players would be satisfied with just one non-human potential love interest
@@alearnedman fools, I say!
Tali is a sweetheart imo, garrus to me is like a brother from another mother i could see my character and garrus being complete bros
The Robin Romance mod just makes me think of the Star Trek Voyager episode where Janeway gets a crush on a holographic bartender on the holodeck, then goes into the programming to delete his wife.
Delta Quadrant’s a lonely-ass place
Delete the wife.
Or S02E11 of The Orville when Gordon deleted the BF
Stardew / star trek kind of close name wise at least! Stardew also has a mod called Penny’s nightmare that makes everyone look like Pam, and there is a Marry everyone mod that will let you marry Pam as well
Omg, that's not how I recall the episode. I remember her editing him to make him more like her ideal, but I looked in the wiki and she did indeed delete his wife!
I still can’t believe that you can romance a mindflayer and not Raphael. I was so sure that he would be a romance option. Like, it wasn’t even a question for me. I always assumed he would be one of the most popular romance options of the game. MIND BLOWN!!!!
Especially when he says “you know I’ve grown quite fond of you.” Like cmon! He has them feelings I’m sure of it. Give me my devil
All I can say about the mind flayer romance I almost quit playing the game forever once we find out about the Dream Visitor, spent a lot of time creating them hoping to romance them in the end and we get the emperor instead still pissed about that even if we prefer the dream visitor form I can't bring myself to follow through because I know what it really is
Ones that come to mind are Serana, Brynjolf, Erik the Slayer, and Teldrin Sero from Skyrim. I frequently see people talking about them online.
Erik the Slayer has a mod, "Now olderand wiser" by wolfgrimdark that makes Erik a fun companion and an even better househusband who cooks me dinner, takes care of our million orphan kids and even runs a lucrative trading stall in Solitude.
Having not once been rejected by Astarion even the first time when I wasn't trying to win his favor, I never cease to find the dialogue when he does reject someone hilarious.
Sounds like you played before the horny bat patch.
Never gotten far with the dude in my playthroughs. I always end up stabbing him
"it's not you, darling, it's me. i have standards." call that a vicious mockery the way i'd take 1d12 psychic damage if someone said that to me NSDGNGSDJ
Bro came onto me, I wasn't even trying. But he's still not as bad as Lae'zel, you just tried to kill me wtf!?
same lol
i didn't even know he even would for the longest time, i just assumed he was the easiest pick up for obvious story-based reasons (not that he genuinely likes every tav etc.) though i will say i won't blame people who play multiplayer because it is harder to get that approval you need
Replaying Fallout 4 fairly recently, I think part of Nick's appeal is that he feels sort of comforting when you meet him and if he accompanies you on your next quests. You save him because his assistant asked you to, but once he's free, he very quickly goes: "You need me help? I'll do everything in my power to help." Most characters (like the Minutemen) are friendly and grateful and give you advice where to go next on your quest. But they usually are also very quick to ask for your help with dangerous things and let you figure your own way after pointing you to the right direction. Nick goes out of his way to accompany you, help you, even take risks for you with the whole experimental thing with Kellog's memory. At the same time he expresses a lot of sympathy for your situation and does his best to support you. He's not just doing his job or repaying a debt. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember the first dialogue you get with him once your friendship is high enough is him asking if you're alright.
Why yes, I am still saltier than the salt mine someone is trying to eat their way out of that the romance mod doesn't work on PS4, thanks for asking. But at least I've got my favourite synth as my SS's best friend^^
He has dad vibes about him to some extent I find. I did something he disapproved of and felt so bad I loaded an earlier save.
This is it exactly. Nick is SO supportive and kind to the player. I thought he had so much chemistry with Nora, it was the perfect setup for the old forbidden "she's my client" noir romance. Curse youuu Bethesda!!
i just wish they had thrown in some Lucan Valerius quote for him to say. "The Riverwood Trader is everything you need in a general store."
Just play a better game
@@tamfuwing1 That, too. Could you imagine him being a stepdad to your kid? Which, sidebar, would have been nice content to have with your LIs depending on the ending decisions you make.
Brynjolf from Skyrim.
Him calling me "Lad" all the time does things to my brain.
Vex from Skyrim too 😢
@@wilgefortisohlin568 oof, yeah.
She may not be "my type", but that is one hell of a woman.
omg I just posted the same!!! I never see enough Brynjolf love ❤️
"Sorry Lad/Lass, I've got important things to do." I would ship him so hard with my fem LDB's, lol.
And his relationship with TLD mirrors that of Gallus and Karliah. Brynjolf should have been a marriage candidate. Thankfully, mods fix that.
Boone from Fallout New Vegas! You spend so much time with him because his quests are really personal and he opens up to you slowly. He wants/needs someone and it would have been SO EASY for the player to be that someone.
One thing I didn't expect from Takemura is him responding in a cute kitty face emoji at one point in our text messages.
Beware, some of that Varric fan art might be Dragon Age Restricted.
Well* done sir
[* - of Sorrows]
Seriously tho Varric and Hawke is still my OTP years later.
WHY IS IT NOT AN OPTION
I wish I could frame this comment
I was surprised to find you could romance Garrus but not Wrex in ME2. Not sure what possessed me to WANT to romance Wrex but I did.
"That's for DeviantArt to decide." If that doesn't define our times, I don't know what does. XD
So a friend of mine had a theory about Varric that I headcanon:
It’s not that there’s no scenario where Hawke hooks up with him, there’s just no scenario where he’ll include it in the story.
Cause that’s what the game is… his account of the tale. Under interrogation by an inquisitor in fear of his life. We know from the prologue that he’s not opposed to altering the story in his own self interest.
Think about it: if he was like “yeah, and then Hawke and I totally banged and I rocked her world”, is that gonna increase the chances that Cassandra believes him when he insists he had no idea where she is? Of course he’s not gonna raises his chances of getting tortured to death doing that.
Varric is in love with Bianca, who he named his crossbow after, but she is married.
@@natashah3687I strongly suspect the next game is going to suck because they fired some of their best writers, but at the very least they could finally get Varric and Bianca together. They teased it for two games already.
There is actually a cut scene from the game where Varric meets up with the Champion after the interrogation and heavily implies that the whole story was a lie and that he left out details about himself and the Champion.
Okay so while Varric bums me out constantly because he needs love (or rather I need to love him.)
Plot twist, I’m not even into guys in the first place and yet the one that bums me out in mass effect is actually Vega. Like they make him that flirty and that kind of tension and the *best* you can hope for is an Awk hookup? :|
@@elf__daddyReally? BioWare shelled out Freddy Prinz Jr money and didn't make him romancable?
Dammon from Baldur's Gate 3. Playing as Karlach... I felt those sparks when he pressed his ear to my chest ✨️
The only issue is that I think dammon is a romance prospect for karlach and only karlach, and also that it's fine for it to be slower pace than the other romances in the game.
But then, that's why I love the letter in the epilogue. If it was just a little more forward...can definately read into it already.
In the cut content as Karlach apparently she tries fantasizing about him one night before the Tadpole ruins it by having her think about eating his brain
Swoon!
It's okay, she has Wyll. They've got a chemistry ever since he refused to kill her despite not knowing what Mizora would do to him.
OKAY WAIT glad I'm not the only one. He has ~expressions~ that are real interesting too. He seemed way more interesting than they let him be
This entire list could be BG3 characters tbh
Raphael, Gortash, Dammon, Rolan, Alfira, Zelvor - BG3 fans love their villains and their teiflings ❤
I'm glad someone else mentioned Zevlor.
Its not even a romance game but Papyrus from Undertale hurt hard. Only because i thought it was silly, was thoroughly charmed, and then let down so so gently. Forever the one that got away...
Another Dragon Age dwarf: Scout Harding. She's funny, sweet , is always happy to see you and is voiced by Ali Hillis, aka Liara T'Soni. You can flirt with her and she'll say you can try and date after you defeat Dragaon Age Inquistion's big bad, which you can confirm in the Trespasser DLC, but its not the same.
That have might something to do with people’s predjudiced opinions.
Agreed. She’s the one in the game I actually wanted to romance.
@@Bub63664 Same, I think the romances in DAI are good but they could have been perfect
They cut her romance, because of the smash scene. Because all it would take is one character model mod to make this game super-problematic. So, they cut it. But you still see the pieces of where it was.
Harding is so damn cute and I'm so pissed she can't be romanced fully. 😭 Like yes, she's kind of an option, but it isn't the SAME damn it.
7:24 To misquote Captain Janeway: "Computer, delete the husband."
"Computer, delete Greg." - Lt. Gordon Malloy on "The Orville"
Raphael's boss fight was my favorite moment of BG3.
When he started singing in the background and you start to pick up on what he's saying... And that's all after you're on a loot high from all the bad-ass equipment you've managed to pilfer from him while wandering around his house.
Gave me chills.
The musical number was quite literally the very moment he won me over. Got to respect a man with bars.
Here's an idea for a list: 7 villains whose plans were undone by the wildest chances
For example: The Master from Fallout 1. His crazy plan to mutate all humans into Super Mutants would've succeeded, if a random bit of tech in a random underground vault didn't break, prompting the Vault Dweller to venture across the wasteland.
Another example: Mehrunes Dagon, TES4: Oblivion. He would've destroyed Tamriel, if the late Emperor Uriel Septim kept it in his pants, and DIDN'T have a bastard son voiced by Sean Bean
Though very technically, the Master's plan wouldn't have succeeded, because his plan was to have super mutants be the dominant race, which was doomed from the start due to them being sterile.
I'd have to give a bonus point to ganondorf though, in windwaker. For all intents and purposes, he would've succeeded, if not for the deus ex machina of the King somehow managing to also be in the same place without anyone noticing and reaching the triforce first.
And then there's Ganondorf (again), this time in the backstory of TotK, but that's what happens when you throw time travel into a plot, things inevitable end up paradoxical.
Frankly it's criminal that even in Karlach's origin run you can't romance Dammon, the lil blacksmithing sweetheart. Also, I wanna smooch Rolan.
EDIT: ...with recent events, I have since reconsidered my stance and am a faithful Rolanite, all the way. Something about Dammon's voice gives me the ick now.
I saw BG3 and my first instinct was Dammon would be on the list. He should be. Though, as I understand it, his potential romance with Karlach WAS intended, at least at some point in development. If we get no other origin-exclusive romances, I would not mind as long as we got Dammon and Karlach.
I adore that guy. My Dragonborn is happy he worked with him to help Karlach to get better.
Maybe it was wishful thinking, but I felt like he was nervously smitten by Karlach the second they met and he saw he had an in through the infernal engine. Maybe Karlach would want a stronger personality off the bat, and I'd get that (shes a badass, maybe shed need someone to match that), but I shipped it
I want to elope with Orin. steal her away from the god of murder and start a happy relationship 😂 Oh and the most attractive everyday npc i have ever met, Lakrissa the Tiefling scout you meet in the grove, her personality face preset and voice is a perfect blend, i like her character and she barely has much screen time.
Rolan really does need a hug, plus I bet he'd be a great husband, seeing how he was willing to march to his death for his siblings

VARRIC TETHRAS IS SO REAL. literally still weeping over him 15 years later
Does anyone else notice how great Jane’s hair looks in this vid! The volume! The symmetry! The style!
One time I asked Nick Valentine's voice actor if he knew why Nick was unromanceable, he said that it's because Nick doesn't really think about those things, all his thinks about is his work/life's mission, etc. And romance doesn't really even cross his mind. So sad :')
Whatever makes Nick happy I guess. He's a wonderful character.
The Robin Romance mod sounds like someone did a Janeway "Delete the Husband"
That's what I thought of while watching 😂
First thing i thought of
You gotta do what you gotta do
I will never recover from Janeway seeing Tom’s OC and deciding to fuck it
YES! I wasn't the only one who thought of this! haha
Nick reminds me of when people find those animatronics or puppets made from perishable rubber, decades after they've been put in storage and either lost or forgotten.
Lady D was the first character to come to mind. Despite being a misandrist, she shows a little leg and she could raise a small army that could waste Heisenberg's lair.
despite?! i think for most lady d simps the misandry is a huge part of the appeal. imagine simping for a stacked 9’6” vampire mommy who DIDN’T want to step on you
People have cited Serana from Skyrim already, but Teldryn Sero from the other DLC is similarly thirsted-after, yet unavailable. It says something for the voice acting given he wears a full helmet 24/7 that you need mods or high pickpocket to remove.
Oh, and Ralof and/or Hadvar. We survived Helgen together! The romance!
Omg yes! Do you think he knows that I, his employer, am just crushing on him like so hard as we fight together?
His voice actor is a Shakespearean actor as well.
And I did steal his helmet, yes.
Given the process she went through to become a vampire, I understand why Serana is unavailable
Also J'zargo. Fortunately, there is a mod that makes it possible to marry him.
All I want to do is romance the blocks in Tetris;
I guess that's an L
I hate you for how funny this is
Damn you, I was taking a drink.

This made me laugh really loudly
Cerys an Craite in Witcher 3. She's tough, smart and pretty. Geralt can get to know her quite well during her questline. I think she'd be a better match for him than any of the sorceresses.
Anna Henrietta would have been welcome too.
Cerys would be hard to justify because Geralt is friends with her dad.
@@Johnnythefirst Anna Henrietta was Daffodil's ex, so that would be wrong as well.
@@HavelockxXx Welllll, he's spoken for now. You snooze, you lose.
@@Johnnythefirst she is beautiful but I found her entitled and annoying. Also it would have been great if not most of the animation (during the deed) was basically the same for every girl he boned. Syanna was different and Yen on the Unicorn, but the others … boring.
Sae Nimima from Persona 5 comes to mind. She's present throughout the game with the MC, and the game doesn't shy away from Joker dating older women like his teacher or doctor. It doesn't make sense, and it's not fair. :(
For real! (as Ryuji would say) and there are even more people that are pissed that Joker can't romance Akechi!
Scrolled down a good while before I got to this
Don't forget what they took from us

@@nibblesnarfer yeah, she was originally going to be a romancable option until Atlus scrapped it

Him and Hawke are totally a couple in my mind. The only one to be there the whole time and not require a loyalty quest.
Literally the first character I thought of
Him and Lace Harding kinda make me think the game just didn't like dwarf characters. I guess Harding falls into the "technically romanceable" category.
@@DenverZenn Harding was the only one i wanted
The inclusion of Stardew Valley on this list got me thinking of a possible list idea of "games where we couldn't romance characters but fan demand got said romances patched in". Stardew Valley comes to mind with this, with Shane and Emily being added as romance options in an update.
Gotta include the fact that Clint still hits on Emily even if you're already married to her if so.
I didn't know that Stardew Valley was more complicated that Johnny telling everyone to go to bed.
I was thinking this exact same thing! The overwhelming amount of thirst for non-romanceable Shane and Emily was quite hilarious way back when.
Don't forget there's mods out there to romance Krobus
@LordHammer33 you can already be roommates with him in the base game lol
Now the Wizard, on the other hand...
This was a great tier list. I do hope Larian hears the fans' cries, because Raphael is a very easily written character for a romance arc, given he flirts endlessly with the main characters and has a complex background that would be fun to explore through a romance path.
Another from BG3- Alfira the Bard. Alas, she's in a committed relationship.
"We'll move on, hurts a little." You're not fooling anyone Andy, it hurts ALOT. 😂😂😂
If the outsidexbox and outsidextra team are up to it, I think a video where they in an unscripted format talk about their thirstiest videogame romances, storylines or crushes is the perfect valentines day video :P
The one I’ve never been able to get over is Scout Harding from DA:I. I know that in the epilogue there’s a hint at it but it’s not the same… smh
Love me some Scout Harding. Such a cutie.
"Nick who resembles Humphrey Bogart after three months decomposing in an abandoned well"
This description reminds me of the old Tales From the Crypt episode "You, Murderer" where we watch the whole episode from the murdered Humphrey Bogart's perspective.
This list reminds me of that time I played a dating sim. The character I found the most attractive was a side character the game stubbornly refused to let me hit on.
For me it's Rolan from BG3. I love his character growth over the game and would love an act 3 romance with him 😔
So glad that Varric was on this list. He just made me giggle so much. How can you not want to romance him?! Yet we were not allowed twice! Twice! The horror!
Yosuke from Persona 4 definitely comes to mind, especially since a romance for him was planned but taken out of the final game
Literally every character in Final Fantasy XIV. Does the game have a romance system? No. Does every player I’ve met want one? Yes!
YESSSS THIS. Especially G'raha Tia! The photo mode is the only thing giving me my pretend romantic option ♥️
Honestly most of the final fantasy could fit. God can only hope for the day Square Enix releases a final fantasy dating game 🙏
I've played a solid 10 minutes of 14 (the rest of the series, hundreds of hours) but Mnaago? huhuhuhu :3 good kitty :3:3:3:3
Nah bro, I'm good not romancing any NPCs. Had an oddly high number of catboy tanks flirt with me though.
This! Like tf did they make Ser Aymeric so hot for when there's no NPC marriage system? 😂
My favourite part of BG3 turning up in these lists is seeing Prudence and Corazon getting up to nonsense. 😂
If you haven't read "Gin and Bear It" on AO3, it's very funny (and the characters were, in my opinion, written pitch-perfectly) ;)
@@typacsk Literally my favourite Oxventure fanfic, inspired a lot of my own. 💜
The sequel is somehow even better. One of my favorites fics period.
@@clairemoore8797 Agreed! The author responded to a comment I made a while back and said they were working on a third one so I refresh the site every few days in the hopes that it will appear. 🤣
@@laterkater4213 Awesome! Have you checked out any of Cicak's stories? (I should note that sometimes they get rather spicier)
I really thought I was the only one thirsting after Tomira. Glad to see others have great taste!
She even flirts with geralt and you can see geralt likes it 😊😊
Gotta admit. Veric is 100% on my list. Always bugged me but you learn it's kinda part of who he is and his background. If they changed it I feel we'd be loosing something of him - also the part of the appeal is his disinterest
wrex from mass effect will always be my one that got away. denied a romance in the first game, denied him being a companion in every game proceeding, forced to send him off with a smile to go repopulate tuchanka. i have never been so thoroughly heartbroken by a video game lizard.
It was Mordin for me. And they had the nerve to tell us salarians werent interested in romance but had one married to an asari in game two, and I think it came up a few times that they just like asari cuz everyone likes asari. Eff you bioware, make me a friggin asari.
i fully agree and i really hope the next mass effect game lets us romance a krogan
I wished i could romance him too, and hoped they'd allow you to date Grunt. I was so glad they added Garrus though since I was thirsting after that scaly boi
@@arthas640 It was infuriating that they didn't add the new romances to the first game in the remaster though! What a missed opportunity.
I onLy play as a female so it was tali’zorah for me
I haven’t actually played the game but I’m just going to say it. Monika from DDLC, to be fair TECHNICALLY you can romance her if you choose to not end the game. But the fact she’s not romanceable IN UNIVERSE is one of the reasons she does what she does
Just Monika.
I mean to be fair, you can't really romance ANY of the characters in DDLC. You can choose to spend more time with them, but if you actually confess your love they end up killing themselves.
And they made a whole Monika romance mod just to keep the endgame going forever.
Knowing that there's a lot of players who want to break a happy relationship to be with a certain character made me feel sad.
It just seems a little too "Stacey's Mom" for me...especially since their daughter is a romance option.
As I clicked on this video I thought ‘it better include Varric Tethras’ and then he’s the first character on screen
The DA fandom will not give up on Varric 😂 I’m fine with him staying my Inquisitor and Hawke’s partner in crime.
The Raphael entry is so on point, both my friend and I were disappointed to find out we couldn’t hook up with Raphael, despite our wildly different tastes (she romanced Shadowheart, and Gale for me).
So many Persona fans want Sae to be a romance option, ugh.
I'm surprised Ellen didn't hijack the whole video and bring up Kingdoms of Amalur for this one!
Alyn Shir, the hot elf rogue NPC that follows you through most of the main story, and even has a deeper backstory involving your character before they awoke in the Well of Souls, is quite charming and even a little flirtatious at times as the game progresses, and you can even try a persuasion test near the end of the main game to flirt with her. Even in the Fatesworn DLC from Re-Reckoning, she has her own set of Lorestones where she reminisces about her travels in Mithros and fondly recalls a time when she visited your character during their vow of silence, and had fun telling them stories to get them to laugh. She makes an appearance at the very end of the DLC to see you off before you take a voyage that has you leaving Amalur entirely, and the stylized cutscene finishing it all off shows her following your ship and watching over you from a distance.
Hell, the entire game is sorely lacking in romance, with the only possible option being the Maid of Windemere from the House of Ballads quest line, who you can spare after her boss battle and make your bride.
I guess they wanted characters from games people had played.
On the other hand, if you don't spare the Maid, you'll still become the new Wencen (seeing as the previous one ran off, and all). Additionally, if your Dispelling is high enough, you have the ability to rescue Belmaid, the previous queen of the House of Ballads. So even if you kill Magwyr, you still end up with a wife.
Fun fact, if you play as a female Fateless One and save both Belmaid and Magwyr the House of Ballads ends up with _three_ queens, even if only one of them hangs out in their Court
You mean hijack it to talk about the Outsider, right? lol
Lady Vivienne from dragon age inquisition... she's such an ice queen i love her 😭
The boss fight in the House of Hope dropping the hottest song was one of the best surprises ever. I fucking love BG3 so much.
Can't believe Serana from Skyrim didn't make the list. Even when I first read the title before clicking, she immediately came to mind. And I haven't played Skyrim in YEARS.
The people in the comment seem to agree. Even though we can with mods, it feels different if the base game doesn't provide it...
They probably didn’t want to go into the in-universe explanation for why you can’t romance Serana
in another time, in another life. you can romance her you just cant sleepwith her and you build a bond that is more mature then just sex or at lest thats how i read it
Indeed everyone loves the goth mummy
@@normalhuman9878 Which makes no sense. You can literally heal her and when that happens that should have made her available to marry - it just never made sense. It even seemed petty because people wanted too so much because she was much more lieable than almost every other choice.
@@alphaomega2117 It does make a little sense lore-wise. Considering what she had to go through to become a vampire...
This episode could have been entirely BG3 and then a follow up for any Bioware game
yep, I can list Sazza, Kar'niss the Drider, Dammon, Orin and Gortash just to name a few, (those last 2 especially for Durge players)
And after BioWare , Bethesda
@@chrispilcher2024 And now for a friendly reminder that under Lolth laying with a Drider means capital punishment.
@@dastvan8002 We're already fighting several other gods, what's one more if I get to give some much needed love to my sad spider boi
Hear me out tho, Gortash from BG3 but ONLY if you’re playing as Dark Urge. I mean, the chemistry is there!
Dragon Age: Inquisition. I was a huge fan of Krem and I think it's entirely because of his voice actor. His story and personality are both great, but really, I'm pretty sure I'm just in love with Jennifer Hale's voice no matter who she's playing.
Looks like the Commenter Edition is going to be: Serana, Serana, Serana, Serana, SERANA and Serana.
Honestly, I think that's why they didn't mention her. Because everyone played Skyrim and everyone wanted to marry her.
@@aquelegabrieltbh..no not really 😅
@@kurtwagner4663 well, they will probably eventually make a "commenter edition" of this...
Yes and, Kasumi, Kasumi, Kasumi, Kasumi, KASUMI and Kasumi. lol
They probably didn’t want to go into the in-universe explanation for why you can’t romance Serana
I’m fairly certain a large number of people will also be saying Alfira the tiefling bard from bg3 as well. Most if not all people seemed disappointed she wasn’t even recruitable.
yes especially since there is no other initial bard companion in the game other than mercenaries
For sure
If you're playing as Dark Urge you can get up in them guts, if you know what I mean
Okay, but my "why can't we romance?" is Barcus Root. He's adorable and loyal and there are no shorties to romance!
My tabletop main of several years is a Deep Gnome and is very disappointed.
@@BlueEyedBrunette in fairness, kisses between the short folk and the romancables looked . . . . _awkward_ . . . . for a good while.
Can't believe Serana didn't get a mention!
So, as a swtor main, I'd like to add a list of characters whom swtor players wish were romanceable
1. Vaylin (shudders)
2. Darth Malgus (I don't get it, but it's there)
3. Darth Marr (the daddy)
4. Satele Shan (the mommy, unironically 😂)
5. Khem Val (monster lovers, sort of added in an expansion)
6. Empress Acina
7. Darth Vowrawn
8. Darth Jadus
9. Thana Vesh
The mechanist from Fallout 4 seemed like a really candidate for an companion/romance after her quest line was finished none violently.
That moment when you thought of Alyn Shyr from Kingdom of Alamur Reckoning some time ago.
What a weird time.
Being friendzoned by Varric is so painful. And not being able to romance my favourite CyberPunk RipperDoc Vik is heartbreaking too. Also, Larian needs to let us smooch cheeky Raphael. Thank Gods for Ao3.
Out of all Cyberpunk, the person I thought would be on the list was Alex from the DLC. V and Alex form a genuine connection in their scenes. However, the connection was just to make it more tragic that your ending choice either betrayed her or got her killed by the villains.
Seconding the Vik thirst. 👌 Something about that guy. Whew.
Only loves himself.
So if you made your character model look just like him...
Tbh I wanted to romance songbird
Amazing video. The only one I will add or change I will put "Songbird" from Phantom liberty on the list. She's an amazing character and complex story, combined with the MC it would made a more difficult decision to make at the end of the DLC.
I'm surprised you guys didn't bring up the Mox bouncer from cyberpunk, the level of thirst people had for an NPC which we had like nothing to do with was crazy
Aurore from the expansion is the one everyone talks about now. I have never been rizzed up by a video game character like she did.
Many wanted a Blue Moon romance, I haven' t started Phantom Liberty yet, I think I'd definitely romance Songbird over everyone, even Panam if I were able too
Why is Withers not on this list?
I'm calling the police
Fanfictions will always come in on swift wings saving us from out thirst lol.
**Open AO3**
Love seeing this channel going strong for 11 years. :)
Bringing in Natalie Dormer to voice Lexi in Mass Effect Andromeda and then not letting us romance her felt like such a tease.
7:53 - that Romance Robin Mod reminds me of the episode of Star Trek Voyager where Janeway deleted a character in the holodeck so she could romance the character’s barkeep husband. And the episode framed her as in the wrong for it. so, kidders, know that Star Trek is judging you for installing this mod. 😝
My Time at Sandrock has a rather notable example; of the over 40 named NPCs present in the game, over half are romanceable; of those that are not, nearly all of them are either children or already married. The only exceptions are the train conductor, the head of the local church... and Zeke, a large, soft-spoken, gentle teddy bear of a farmer who has dedicated his life to bringing plantlife back to the desert any way he can. In that effort, he works closely with the player across much of the main story of the game, aiding in their efforts to save the ailing town of Sandrock from its woes.
And yet, despite some of the people that did make the cut for being willing to flirt with the player, he's staunchly single and will remain so.
This is a point of great contention in the game's community.
i feel like a few of these characters are probably meant to be aromantic, its just that the writer(s) didnt know the word at the time or perhaps were a bit scared to use it - nick valentine and varric being rather clear cases of such. a lot of people also seem to assume that aromantic and asexual are the same thing, thus if you make a character aromantic they cant be sexual and vice versa. unless it gets confirmed though one can only speculate.
You want to talk awkward romantic triangles? Oookay. I wanted one between Legion and Tali to fling my FemShep into. “Shepard Commander. You are experiencing damage to your platform.” “It’s called lingerie.”
Nalia de Arnise from Baldur's Gate 2, CHARNAME's true love whose romance was never meant to be.
I'm still sad about it twenty years later.
I think there'd be plenty to throw in Valygar, too.
There'd be plenty of decent drama for either.
Let's not forget _anyone_ other than Anomen for a female Bhaalspawn. Seriously, the only male love interest is _that_ pompous jerk?
Yes to Valygar!
Yes to Valygar!
The Robin Romance mod, otherwise known as the Captain Janeway ‘delete the wife’ mod
Hahaha yeah. That was savage.
You overlooked Aveline in DA2. I was personally VERY upset when she turned down Hawke.
I have never felt more called out by a list in my life.
Adding in Wrex from Mass Effect, Gortash from BG3 (I've seen so many people shipping him with Durge), and Krem from DA:I. Also Jack Mass Effect and Cassandra DA:I for female characters.
Wrex is on my list, more on the biological sense speaking curious on the krogan reproductive system
I'm willing to get down on my knees and beg whoever I need to for them to make Krem romanceable in the next game like PLEASE
@@comora010304 well the only thing we do know about males is that they have 4 nuts lol
Bioware is a buncha cowards for not letting us romance Wrex!! You even have an adopted son in Grunt to help you have perfect grandkids!
Yes to Wrex and honestly Javik would have SO much potential with Shepard as well the last person that can „understand“ prothean. Also wouldn’t mind Zaeed 😂
Jane's hair looks good in this video like next level good
Right! Sucks the devs won’t let us romance her fr :(
I don't have any device that could be used to play BG3, so I'm only vaguely following while waiting to get a new PC, but I never even heard of the character you mentionned. On the other hand, everyone seems to be thirsting about Kat'niss (I believe that's his name?) and mourning his non-romanceable status.
In Stardew Valley I was lucky because the character I wished to be romanceable actually became so
I remember falling for Varric when playing DA Inquisition and I was playing as a dwarf too, got so dissapointed when I realised he wasn't romanceable
After DA:I I went to the second game for the first time and got happily surprised he was there too xD
