Thank you. My wife has had her 2012 Focus since 2013 and has put 160K miles plus on it, and it has never shifted as well as it does now. Simple and beautiful fix. After spraying I took the flexible attachment from the WD-40 and put it on a can of Brakecleen to rinse. I then cleared the code and test-drove for 30 minutes. I cannot remember it ever shifting so smoothly.

I have a 2014 Focus with 242,000 miles on it. I've always had a jerky transmission since i got it with 40k miles on it. About a year and a half ago I had problems with my clutch actuator B. It had visible damage to it and I replaced it. I recently had a P090C Code (Clutch 'B' Actuator Control Circuit Low has been detected.) I bought another new clutch actuator, and about a week ago I replaced it again but this time it didn't work. I took it back out and I also removed clutch actuator A. I sprayed compressed air, WD 40 & Carburetor Cleaner in both actuator ports. I put the old new actuator in A and the new Actuator in B. I hooked the battery back up and did the transmission reset inside the car. It's the one where you turn the key on and put it in N for 15 sec. Turn key off, turn key on and put it in park...(check focus trans. reset on CZcams) So far my transmission shifts super smooth. My gas mileage meter on the dashboard used to say 34 mpg but now it says 42mpg. I'm going to do the actual math at next fill up to see how true this is. If I have future problem then I'll probably try the drill a hole in the bottom of the transmission method to try to remove more dust and debris. Thanks for your videos!

    • @frankgagnier4805

@@roldrix0354 I did end up drilling holes in the transmission. I blew a bunch of dust out of the transmission and sprayed some cleaner in there but it was too late. These fixes only lasted a few hundred miles and it started getting dangerous. I ended up replacing the clutches and forks by watching Big Ben's Ford Focus Transmission videos. He has one that tells you how to do it with no special tools. I bought a Luk Rep Set on Amazon for $600ish bucks. The hardest part about the whole job was getting the transmission back in. The whole transmission isn't super heavy. I want to say that it was around 100 pounds. I ended up buying a engine hoist from Harbor Frieght. It made it easier to line up the transmission. If anyone who reads this plans on attempting this I suggest removing all three sensors from the transmission and removing the intake to get easier access to the starter that you have to remove. I did all this a 250k. I live in Florida and have kept great care as my car as a whole. It has no rust and still looks in great shape so I figured it was worth doing. It now has 262k miles on it and it drives smooth and amazing now!

Put some welly in it, every time you drive it, and you'll keep the dust out, and keep your actuators working well, and your forks from ever getting bent, bound, or worn excessively. The DPS6 likes to be driven a bit on the aggressive side, to keep in good health. Also, never creep in traffic. It causes excessive wear, and clutch dust to accumulate at the connection to the actuators. If you are a slow, gentle driver, the Fiesta, and Focus DPS6 cars, have completely the wrong transmission for you. You want a car with a CVT, or hydraulic clutch. The DPS6 should be driven most like a spirited manual. A lot of the wrong kind of drivers have bought the Fiesta/Focus's. If you are a WRC fan, and have a little fun in your DCT car, Your transmission will remain happy, and ready to rip, any time you are! ❤ (mk7.5 2017 DPS6 driver here.)

@@questionreality6003 There are benefits to not having clutch dust circulating all over in your transmission fluid. . And, there are many ways to build a good transmission. You can also drop a complete DPS6 transmission by yourself, with basic tools, and without a lift. Taking one apart, cleaning it every few years, will keep the dust out, and the transmission working fine, over at least two additional LuK RepSets, after the original. And once you've done the job one time, a lot of folks feel pretty confident in doing the job themselves the next clutch change. Typically, that's half a million miles+, over the three sets, if you drive the car with some spirit on a very regular basis. . Check out my buddy Ben's channel. (Big Ben's Cars & Cycles) He was a transmission specialist at a Ford Dealer, for about a decade, until recently quitting to do CZcams full time. He's highly experienced on every detail of the DPS6. I bet he could convince you that the DPS6 is actually a great transmission, that got a bad rap, due to a poorly engineered TCM. That poorly designed TCM, however, was redesigned, and no longer has the problems of the 2016, and earlier TCM for the DPS6.

    • @247kokoman

The Transmission Control Module TCM will be confused if the Clutch forks are sticking and then the gear shift points will be all over the place. When you disconnect the battery it resets the TCM and then when the forks get stuck again it will do the same. I thought the same thing that it was electrical too at first. But when I had my issues it wouldn't want to shift into 3rd every time it acted up. The fork sticking makes sense because the dual Clutch system one Clutch does the even gears and one Clutch does the odd number gears. If the TCM is bad it will be bad disconnect and reconnect battery won't work. Anyways I'm not a pro mechanic and each Transmission issue can be different 🤙🏾
