    Saw them with Animals As Leaders and Chon in El Paso supporting this album back in 2014 and they played flawlessly. I met nearly everyone that was on tour and they were all pretty nice dudes, but Alex Webster and Jeff Loomis took the cake. They spoke to fans like long lost friends and were grateful/flattered that we came out. Alex even saw me leaving after talking to him and waved goodbye while shouting "Thanks for coming out, man! Have a good night!" Still the most humble "celebrities" I've ever met. One of the best nights of my life.

There's a lot of that, but I think the use of liberated dissonance within the subgenre employed by certain bands, i.e. Gorguts, Ad Nauseam and the like, leaves ample room for emotional nuance beyond other genres that don't have access to the same unique combinations of timbre and harmony

    WOAH...JUST, WOAHHHHHH. This, is next level musicianship! Then to add a super hard element to it all...This may be the hardest headbanging I've done to a vocaless progressive band, however I LOVE the subtle growls yu can sometimes pick up on I the background. Even the band can't resist! Dam I gotta practice my scales!

    I don't know how Jeff Loomis does it1. I'm stunned by his playing, but it's his songwriting that is unparalleled in its consistency. I mean, not even Bach composed Loomis' high percentage (nearly 100%) of songs that I don't just merely *want* to hear but also think are super solid compositions. It's just nuts.

    • @talastra
      @talastra Před rokem

      Part of it, as also with the hyper-cerebrality of Robert Fripp (who is not as consistently successful), is the use of really compelling guitar tones. So it doesn't necessarily matter what the song is doing, it just sounds sick and delicious.

    I wouldn't have lasted this long if there noisy lyrics its better without lyrics.
    But that's up to the individual listner..
    I love the speed that they play the quarter note I've just being jamming along with blotted science, and I was saying to my girlfriend that jams with me she asked me about how quick can anyone play 64ths I thought hands grothnan plays 64th time but quarternote and it open to all styles so I said to her that we are all ready playing 64th through our tonight .but yeah, it's that quarter note, and it enables us all to explore music .
    I'm 57 years old and I still listen to this type music core they get to every note possible and keeps I'd say all of us in tune with the earth orchestral music is the same they'll get to every note played on the scale fucken beautiful and the most beautiful thing I did qas take up music , I qas 21 then so I had some lesson's to make sure that what I was playing was true and learnt to read a little drum scores or manuscrips as these sheet music to every musical instrument in the world . That's a true story

      @@Minty.Fresh.Tunes. I agree to an extent, I think it's all in the manner of music a person leans towards the most, I live Jeff Loomis anything he creates, and the to live I'd to die comment is the sake of how the changes coexist with the sing itself, going to and from one scale to the next without it seemingly out of place in the totality of the song, I am a huge nevermore fan, and you can definitely hear when Jeff started to write a majority of the music...r.i.p.
