  • In this episode, Aaron swaps in a LSD into the back of the legacyGT for extra drift cred!
    This video also explains how limited slip differential work and why you''d want one in your car as opposed to a welded rear diff.
    Theres also a quick tip about reasonably priced aluminum rear end-links to stiffen up the handling on any subaru without breaking the bank!
    Look for 2001-2004 Audi A4 or A6 front end links. They fit perfectly on the rear of 93-07 imprezas/foresters and 93-99 USDM Legacies, and are a great inexpensive upgrade to the OEM plastic end links.

    We dropped the diff out of my 15 without having to fool with the hubs made the job a lot easier. Helped to read up about it on Nasioc before the swap.

      Also, in doing some searching myself, I have also found these cheap aluminum alternatives to the extremely expensive performance brand parts. Front and rear for Subaru.

      I did some more digging and you can get them for $10.80 each, front and rear, from Sears. Shipping is free for orders over $50, so find something else stupid to add to the order.

      They actually list the same part many times at different prices for different model years. Silly. These are the cheapest.

    Dude!!!!! Thank you so freekn much for this video. I'm swapping out my bad R180 for a R160 I bought off Ebay for 145 like uppit said it would be. But the part really like is the part about "sway bar end links". I was able to get mine off of a 2004 Audi S4. So anyone that can't find an Audi A4 or A6, it's the same part on the Audi S4. Thanks Again Brother.

    Hello fella, I've watched your vlog on replacing bushings in your gearshift linkage and thought this is my kinda thinking. I'm pretty good round a car but you're a lot braver than me. I own a 3rd gen diesel forester and have started familiarising myself with it but it's a different beast compared to normal cars. I totally agree with you using copper grease as it's the best. I put a smear on every bolt I remove/replace. Keep up the good work and vlogs. UK guy fan

    I just bought some Audi front end links. Great info. So I use two wrenches on the small driveshaft bolts. With the can in neutral and all wheels off the ground, I can rotate the driveshaft by hand without the need for a 2nd person.

      @Dirtcheapdaily  Před 7 lety +1

      +PhantasmAMX yea, it's a little cover that goes over the top of the timing belt on manual cars. It's so your timing belt doesn't skip a tooth if it gets bumped when parked. I'm not going to worry about it since I don't leave it in gear when I'm parked.
