Thank you so very much, just purchased a house, and I am learning "House 101" The edge Trimmer, was one of the things I purchased, and had issued with the understanding how to Restring, I did take of that White plastic ring, followed your instructions Bingo, you saved me a trip to the Stihl store.
Great video. Straight to the point with no nonsense. I took out that stupid white retainer and it worked fine. I guess that is for the auto loaded spool, but it sure made the whole process harder than it needed to be!
Ohhhh THANKYOU !!! Another female here, LOL and wouldn't have worked that out unless seeing it !!! I did it step by step as you were doing it ...Gee they don't make those winders wide enough for fingers to turn while pushing in at the same time , do they ? But all done now and SO MUCH EASIER than my last trimmer , not Stihl, which was a monster to refill the line. Thanks again !!!
I must have an older model of the Stihl FSA57 because I do not have the autocut spindle as shown in your video. I am having fits with the string jamming, after 3 feet or less of cutting, and I have to take it apart, restring and try again. It worked like a charm the first two years, now, not at all!
Yes they do make a different head on the older fsa 57 have you checked your eyes in your string head for wear may be better off to get a new string head I’m not sure if the older FSA 57will take the newer version string head but I can sure find out for you if this would help just let me know thanks
Thank you great video that white collar looked damn hard to get off as i just bought this trimmer i was wondering about getting it off and then leaving it off. How durable is the line to breakages???
I don't know if you can help, but I do his and the string doesn't spool out properly when I'm trimming. I keep having to whack the button to let more out.
Just bought a Stihl strimmer, great tool but lousy instructions ! No mention of how to reload the spool at all. This video nails it. Well done.
Thank you!!! Very clear and concise. Much appreciated!!!

1st video, after trying 5 different ones, that actually showed me how to accomplish this. Thank you!

I’m having problems with the string breaking constantly as I’m weed eating
Soak the string in water for 24 hours. it should significantly reduce breakage

What’s the point of taking the white collar off the spool? This is my second year still refilling the original spool and I left my collar on
Great video -- How long should you pre-cut the line that you feed in -- TY
Do between 6 and 10 feet.
tyvm How much line did you cut b4 inserting? What is the capacity limit?
26’ of size .065
16’ of size .080
That’s the two options for this head.
How long was your string?
He says 10 feet in the video
So I bought mine like last year. I did what you showed, but it only cuts for like 5 minutes lol. What the heck am I doing wrong grr!
Nice!
How many feet of string do you use when you repool
About 8ft he said
What does auto cut mean? Do you tap this for more string???
Yes I tap mine to feed more line out.
It's not the way to do it. you don't have to take away the part on the head. That part must stay there
Thank you
Thank you
