- Back in Crestwood to kill a wyvern for a nice lady named Judith, somehow ended up in the exact same place where Solas removed my Lavellan's vallaslin and then dumped her not that long ago. Cue Cole, as he proceeds to recount the break-up in banter with Solas...in the exact spot the break-up happened. I died a little.
“I apologize Cole. You can’t reveal I’m planning to destroy this world.”

Solas wants to re-establish how things were before, before he created the Veil to separate the Fade and the waking world. But merging the two would destroy the world as we know it and kill many people. Before he met the Inquisitor he felt nothing for the current world, he thought very little of the people living in it and probably didn't even consider them as people, just beasts, hence why he had no qualms of destroying the world for his goals. But after falling in love with the Inquisitor, even making friends with the other characters in the Inquisition he realized that the people are real living breathing beings. So he broke up with the Inquisitor, afraid that this new realization would cause him to hesitate with his plans, but he will not hesitate to reclaim the lost glory of The People.

rcc1111 pretty much bang on the money, I have to ask if you’ve played Trespasser yet, cause it actually answers some of the questions surrounding Solas. In particular, I believe there’s a line of dialogue that mentions how he felt the world had become full of tranquil, to his eyes, those who could not dream, who’d lost their connection to magic and had no emotion whatsoever
Then he meets the Inquisitor, and he realises how wrong he was

Bioware have always had a knack for foreshadowing things, but this IMO has been their masterpiece.

@@commandercritic9036 but there is one question we tried asking in the game: Why does the world need to be destroyed for the Ancient Elves to live? His answer "it's too easy to answer that question." His plan was to get rid of the Evanuris by using the Anchor but that backfired because his Orb was destroyed.
@@NotDumbassable Solas did say he awoke weak when he tried to open the Orb. So, Corypheus's Venatori took it to unlock it. That backfired. The alliance part would be unlikely unless there's going to be betrayal from Mythal because... remember when Flemeth turned to stone from Solas? Everyone is saying that Solas took Flemeth's life and Mythal's soul. What if it's Mythal and Flemeth being one person and Possessing Solas in a certain area of conscious that he doesn't know that he's being played into a trickery. How ironic that would sound in the Dalish Legend about The Dread Wolf Deceiving The Elven Gods when it's the Elven Goddess tricking the Dread Wolf.

My one regret was never putting Cole and Solas together in my main team, probly missed out on lots of interesting conversations. Always had Cassandra and Dorian instead, and added Cole after Solas left. Bummer D:
I think what's most interesting is Solas doesn't want cole to make the inquisitor forget her pain. Why wouldn't he be able to make her forget it? Solas will either say "please let it go" or "let her carry her anger in peace." I don't think he wants her to forget what he means to her...clearly, they're connected forever now as he visits in her dreams, says he will never forget her, and after two years of no contact, they expressed their hearts and love (if you chose) to each other more freely than ever. After Trespasser he knows he can't have her but he'd finally made peace that his heart wants and needs her anyway. Before even playing trespasser it was pretty clear the relationship wasn't over...just resisted. I think Cole could have made her forget her pain but Solas (selfishly, as he'd probably say) couldn't let her. Maybe even Solas himself could have made her forget if he wanted to...

My playthrough, when I got this, I just started flipping off Solas every time I passed by his office at Skyhold. "FUCK YOU, EGGHEAD." It's a thing now, even when I start a new romance with him, I still greet him with "How's it goin, fuckface?" XD

It is absolutely not that simple. The fact you think that a pain can be healed, especially this one, simply because you say so indicates a fucking huge lack of empathy on your part. Be in a person's situation before you judge their shortcomings, then see if you can say what you said before. If you have any sense, you won't.

being a mage only changes certain conversations, Solas speaks to you more like a intellectual equal believing you to understand what he is talking about rather then someone who knows nothing of the fade and believes you unable to grasp it

The pond in crest wood. Not the water body with a boat close to a bridge. You have a crestwood Npc quest there to kill a wyvern in case you can't find the location. And this particular banter only triggers after solas breaks up with elf inky.
