    Nightmare: Dirth ma, harellan. Ma banal enasalin. Mar solas ena mar din.
    Which roughly translates:
    Dirth = Learned/lesson
    ma = you (not me)
    harellan = trickster
    banal = nothing
    enasalin = victory
    mar = (unknown, probably "your")
    solas = pride (but we've known this for a year)
    ena = emerge (also a portent of future tense)
    din = not/isn't/(terms of this nature, also "death")
    So they translate it roughly to:
    "Have you learned, trickster? That was no victory. Your pride will be your death."
    "Banal nadas." = "[You] must (say) nothing." Basically that's the elven way of saying, "Shut the fuck up."

      @endershepard7117 Před 5 lety +2

      @@Luks2820 I lost a lot of respect for the Inquisitor, during the attack on Adamant Fortress. The fact that he or she didn't see it as an option to sacrifice themselves, so the others could escape the Fade. Shows how much the Inquisitor has changed since being so noble during the sacking of Haven.
      When as the Herald of Andraste. He/she decided to stay behind and face The Elder One. To save everyone else. Imagine how shocking and cool it would have been. As the player. If we had the option of sacrificing our Inquisitor to the Fade and have Hawke become the new Inquisitor, from that point on, in the story?!
      The Herald of Andraste could have had a quick farwell to his love intetest, if they were in your squad. And to the Champion of Kirkwall, the Herald of Andraste could have said, "The Inquisition is in your hands now. Take good care of her!"
      How much of a Bamf move, would that have been?!

    • @endershepard7117
      @endershepard7117 Před 5 lety +1

      Addendum... Furthermore. There is no way that my Hawke would have just laid down his life for some dude he just met, like a few days ago! No matter if multitudes of people are calling him or her. The Herald of Andraste or not. That was so fucking unbelievable and unrealistic!
      The Champion of Kirkwall was the Herald of Andraste's ally not his or her lapdog or flunky...
      If the player selects, The Champion of Kirkwall, to sacrifice themself. Every player should have received this clapback at the Inquisitor from Hawke. Shaming the Inquisitor by saying....
      "Like hell, I will. This mess we're in, is of your making, Inquisitor. If anyone should stay behind to give the rest of us a fighting chance to get out of here and back home. Its you! The Breach has been sealed. That Mark on your hand, no longer matters. And neither, do you!"
      Oh yeah. And when Hawke takes over the Inquisition. You get to recruit some old friends, as new squadmates. Fenris, Merril and your surviving sibling. How cool, would that have been!

    I find it interesting that Cassandra adresses Solas so coldly and impersonally here, this quest is like halfway through the Inquisition, so they worked with each other, travelled, fought, for a year or so. • @prygler
      @prygler Před 9 lety +7

      Luis Callirgos The ending does not say that he is a God. Solas himself said that, those they call elven Gods are not Gods, but very powerful elven mages. Solas (dread wolf) is a powerful mage, who inprisoned the old gods, which is why he is thought of as a trickster. His agenda is obviously tied to the orb as a key to enter the fade physically. This is why he gave the magical elven orb to Corypheus, because Solas did not have the magical strength to use the orb (this is how desperate Solas is). And when he enters the fade with the inquisitor, then he is very excited to be near the black city. This suggests that there is something about the black city, which is strongly tied to his agenda in the fade. Solas is also very concerned with true elven culture and history, which he might want to restore somehow. This could be his ultimative agenda. This is probably also why he only wants to mate/romance with a female elven mage. So the conclusion must be, that Solas and Mythal wants to rebuild the true elven culture, which they need the fade and the black city to do. How it all fits together in detail is totally unknown.

      All of that is common knowledge, do you understand the " " between god in my statement right xD? besides for all the crazy theories out there we still have to wait for bioware to decide wich one ( or perhaps another crazy one) is the "canon" one... Meanwhile I stick Solas being Fen´ harel (obviously Elven pantheon aren´t "gods" but remarkable elven with the power of the orbs to channeling some unknown power for ancient elven) the old gods- Tevinter¨s- that as many said are the forgotten gods ( the dark part of the elven pantheon), Flemeth still alive? consumed by fen harel? or she just jumped onto his body cause in need of a new one?(many "sorrys" on that little talk to be clear) just some other loose ends, like the Architect or the forbidden god that is not present yet, The Maker? is it real? is he away? or like Cory said "there is no maker, the black city was always black".... but just one thing is certain my friend, Bioware succeed in giving us a history we all are hungry to know about.... they will be swimming in more money :) and i´ll be happy if they keep filling my mind with great storytelling.

    Personally I found it really inconsistent for Cole to be so judgemental of the wardens. What they did was awful, but it's not like they were acting out of maliciousness. They wanted to help and felt great regret over their mistakes once they realised them. They should be prime targets for Cole to help. And my character shouldn't be able to be more compassionate than a spirit of compassion...

      Maybe that lying sack of nug shit isn't so much unnerved by the sheer stupidity of Grey Wardens' plan to "kill the Old Gods" but rather by the prospect of having a strong organization nearby, at the ready, that isn't a part of the Inquisition but still indebted to it? And if this gracious Inquisitor comes to them one day and says "Yo, Wardens! Remember the bald elven know-it-all mage we brought here? Turns out he is the new big bad. Can you help us fight him?" do you really think they'd be in any position to decline? Even if they wanted to?
      Think about something else: in the Winter Palace the "best" outcome (I mean the outcome that Solas favors most (_Solas Greatly Approves_ I mean)) is not handing over Orlais to Brialla (which he doesn't even give a shit about (really, there is no approves or disapproves. fucking nothing), but playing the game so well that the three of them start "working together". Seems like a politically shrewd move, right? _Wrong._ Think: what does this "truce" actually accomplish? A stalemate. The _same_ stalemate that almost got Celene killed, Gaspard executed and left Orlais without a leader, nigh-defenceless. Even Leliana says "For the Empire to survive, _someone_ *must* emerge victorious tonight." But nobody did. And so we go back to square one, where Gaspard wishes the Empire he was promised but did not get so now he has to fight for his destiny once again, where Brialla wishes to "help the elves" (translation: consolidate the power for herself), and where Celene's attention is focused not on a dude who is older than the rocks her palace made of and the absolute shit he could (and will, given time) unleash, but rather on a civil war and\or coup d'etat in the shadows.
      czcams.com/video/TJoBMayjlUo/video.html
      1. Suppose you went to get the help of mages in closing the breach. You have two options:
      A. Conscript them (_Solas Greatly Disapproves_) i.e. watching them closely, becoming the Circle they tried so desperately to escape, ready to kill them the second they become Abominations (ergo, possessed by demons and\or _some other_ force of the Void), nullifying practically any and all possibility of them repeating the horrifying and tragic fate of Warden mages at Adamant (becoming near-emotionless tools of murder on _somebody's_ orders).
      B. Forge an alliance with them (_Solas Greatly Approves_) i.e. leaving them completely unsupervised and very much vulnerable to _somebody's_ suggestions and\or possessions through the Void.
      2. Suppose you went to get the help of templars in closing the breach. You have two options:
      A. Conscript them (_Solas Greatly Approves_) i.e. leaving the soldiers that were trained specifically to fight magic (in any form, including mages that were possessed) disgruntled and wishing to regain their freedom (and power) again, who will one day realize that their help is needed once again and will probably see it as a chance to bargain to better their conditions in the Inquisition, if not for independence, forcing you to bicker amongst yourselves, distracting you, rather then focus full attention of a united front on a deceitful knife-ear and his "People".
      B. Forge an alliance with them (_Solas Greatly Disapproves_) i.e. earning trust and gratitude of a powerful, well-respected organization, that will be more than happy to help you to deal with an Apostate of godlike powers and cunning.
      TL;DR : If you want "the good ending" - *never* choose an option that Solas would approve, and *always* choose an option that Solas would disapprove. Remember to punch the bastard. Several times if you can.

    • @andrewthorn7283
      @andrewthorn7283 Před rokem

      Oh shit, I forgot about the elven temple, didn't I?
      Well it's quite simple: if you choose to "honour" Mythal (who, as I understand, was just as much of an Evanuris as the rest of those would-be gods) then not only do you allow for ancient elves to leave to some unknown location because "their duty ends" - you also waste Inquisition resources (translation: manpower, literal lives), leaving you vulnerable. Granted, it is a slight disadvantage, but I suspect the dread shit will not allow even that slight advantage to _his_ cause slip through his fingers. If, however, you choose to blaze through the hole in the wall, not only do you spit in the face of his friend\ally\lover\whatever but also kill the elves that would otherwise join him. Utter failure in his book.
      Also, remember that _bug_ when you chose the fate of the Well? That no matter which option you choose, either letting Morrigan drink it or gobble it up like milkshake yourself, Solas _always_ seems to disapprove? Bug my ass. The bastard does not wish for power of the Well to fall into the hands of those he does not trust. Let Morrigan drink it? She is arbitrary, highly unreliable and not even "one of the People" (it is a known fact that Solas is a racist). Who knows what she'll do with this power? Drink it yourself? You're a future obstacle he has to overcome. To leave this power with you would be like to shoot yourself dead with an accidental discharge.

Guessing from the writing staff, they might work it to where Solas 'is' the Maker and all the religions are misunderstandings of what actually happened, which would be another disappointment as I'm in the same boat and enjoy fantasy Divinity.
      However, where Dragon Age is concerned, I'd like it more if it was a question not answered. There are many things earthbound to keep a player occupied, the writing staff needn't lay the entire universe bare. Because what is life or story without mystery?

Since, as far as the Inquisitor knows, the 'Elder Gods' are a bunch of dragons, and there are apparently dudes like dragon hunters in existence already.
      This may sound contradictory, but I find that questions such as character motivations and knowledge should be up for explanation, but not the confirmation or denial as to whether or not the Maker exists.

      Solas doesn't outright say he believes in a higher power. He says the Old Gods and the Evanuris aren't Gods unless we expand the definition to the point of absurdity. But he admires the Maker, simply because the Maker leaves everyone to their own devices.
      Which makes sense, given what we know about him.

      That female is Hawk. If you play Dragon Age 2 you play as Hawk and you can customise Hawk as either a man or women and change appearance like normal. Using the keep you can carry your save file across to change the world history when you play Inquisition.

    SOLAS IS TH REAL BAD GUY. HE GAVE THE ORB TO CORYPHEUS

    • @afalsestar
      @afalsestar Před 9 lety +8

      He made a mistake giving Corypheus the orb, and he knew it, thus the reason why he joined the Inquisition: He wanted to fix his mistake. You can view him as the bad guy all you want, but he is not. Stating what you said is misinformation.

    • @FernandoAlbertoFloresLazo
      @FernandoAlbertoFloresLazo Před 9 lety +2

      Katherine Weber You can't say if he is good just like you can't say if he is evil, we can only speculate for now. He gave it to Corypheus for his own agenda which did not work out and is unknown to us, Just because he joined the inquisition to fix his mistake doesn't make him good. After all the world could have been destroyed or if Corypheus reached the black city who knows what could have happened. Personally I though he was cool but for some reason he did not agree with me on many things only when it came to the elves which I am for helping them would he slightly agree. I almost let him drink from the fountain because I know how he feels about them but I didn't because as much as I wanted to he could not be fully trusted, I knew he could use that power against the inquisition some day similar with Morrigan she could hide knowledge so the only way was for the inquisitor to drink it himself. I am glad to see I made the right choice considering the events that occurred after.

    • @afalsestar
      @afalsestar Před 9 lety

      ThelastGinyu Pretty sure he rejects to drink even if you offer the option to him, but I've yet to really get into my second playthrough to see. But if he could, Flemeth/Mythal could stop him from absorbing her(or help her possess him, depending on how you see the epilogue), so in that respect it would be detrimental to the epilogue.
      I take every character with a grain of salt, but for roleplaying purposes I don't bring that into my gameplay. Morrigan and Solas and just about everyone the Inquisitor meets could have their own goals, could not be trusted. But unless it affects the story or is shown in the story, the Inquisitor does not know that they do.
      And that might have been a glitch in your game, as he loved questions and of course, if you agreed with him, he liked it even more.
      If he regretted his mistake enough to want to fix it/see how it is fixed, doesn't that make him at least a little good? And therefore by joining the Inquisition and helping their cause, even if it is to further their own goals, also bring some good in that respect?
      He states in the epilogue that he gave it to Corypheus because he could not use it himself. That doesn't really mean he had an agenda in giving it to Corypheus. But I forgot, all gods that are called evil/are evil have agendas.
      All together I like him as a character because he is something new and something to be questioned. I'm hoping that the DLC they make for Inquisition involves him at least in some way, because I'm interested in the story.

      I believe Mythal took over Solas, she was needing a new body, Morrigan refused her, as does her son, we'll not know till later on, just like the other banished Treventor, the Architect, theres a reason he and Corypheus look alike, there has to be more than just two.

    • @afalsestar
      @afalsestar Před 9 lety

      Maples01 It could be either way. The Architect has his own goals as well. I kept him alive until I read summaries of one of the books that described what his goals truly were. But now, due to Corypheus, even if you kill the Architect, he may not be dead. Hm. There's so many possibilities, so many ways for this series to go. I'm sad about not seeing Sandal in this game, though.
      I wonder how many darkspawn-magisters there are.

      He approves of actions that give mercy to innocent people. he dissaproves if you give mercy to people who hurt other people. so basically he despises the templars and grey wardens because of their actions.

      He likes truth, and hates politics. Likes freedom and hates captivity. He's usually more in favor of the mages, but believes the templars are a necessary evil.
      He also approves if you take him on quests to free/help people. On some quests even from afar.
