Barboza is one of the most underrated MMA fighter the fact there are many fights he got robbed..
The absolute most amazing and impressive thing about fighters is the fact that they take and continue going after so many intense blows that 90% of people would not last after one.

Actually no. Punches to the head dont hurt. They just feel weird. Also in a fight u barely feel pain bc of the adrenalin. However most fighters collapse right after the fight bc everything catches up by then.
I watched this live and I was genuinely concerned that he wouldn’t get back up, the delay and him collapsing like that just didn’t seem like a normal knockout. Glad he’s ok💯

I was there in person, it didn’t look as bad as it does in the video. I never felt he wouldn’t be alright, just was really wobbled from an accumulation of shots. After seeing the video I can understand why people found it scary. Almost gives the impression he may have been internally bleeding or had a brain hemorrhage. 😕

This was one of the most technical fights I've ever seen - everything was thrown with such tightness and accuracy. Damn, Shane and Edson put on a show that night. And what a crazy knockout at the end!

The difference between let's say the fighters during the Spike TV era and now is day and night, much better striking, less lay and pray and also a considerable decrease in submissions like armbars and triangles, the sport Is still very young and with a lot more room to grow in many aspects but the level of skill has improved greatly these last ten years.

@Jake L watch the sean O'Malley vs Alimeda (may have spelled that wrong) fight, Sean knocked him down like 3 times, face down a couple times, and waited on the ref to stop it, dude got back up each time so the last time he didn't wait and almost killed the guy with a missile to the head, their are only a couple good refs in ufc in my opinion, most of them don't stop when they should or let it go wayyy too long, he shoulda seen dude was out, or implement like boxing a timed discretion where the ref can give him a second to get backup instead of just calling the fight

This is the weirdest cumulative effect knockout I have ever seen. Also the most drawn out. I hope his brain recovers from all that trauma. I think he suffered multiple concussions during that fight. Maybe even multiple moderate severity concussions, not just a bunch of "baby ones".
Damn it's crazy how casual a fighter can take potentially life changing blows. The average amount of concussions someone takes before developing CTE is 17. The chances of permenant damage greatly increases if someone has a concussion, and takes another blow to the head before they get a chance to heal. This guy will surely have some sort of lasting effects

Reminds me a bit of Anderson Silva- the trunks look like a Brazilian thing. You could tell from the start that this fight was headed in barbosa's direction.. Without any titles or anything. There's always the surprise, but i could see the skill difference immediately.
Only problem is, if Burgos had any more power, Barbosa wouldve been asleep 3 minutes in...there's a reason he hasnt ever made it back to the title scene.

Edson is the epitome of an elegant striking master. His forms are just perfect. That doesn’t make him 100% effective as a fighter bc defense is the other 1/2 of the equation. But man, I just love his fights. win or lose, Edson is always part of an excitement. That 4 hit combo was as quick as it will get. Damn!!

Blame the refs. You continue the fight until the ref calls it off. Look around and you'll find videos of guys seemingly getting knocked out cold, and within 2-3 seconds are back on their feet and back into the fight. Even when a fighter taps, it's not a signal to their opponent to let go of the submission, tapping is a signal to the ref to stop the fight. You don't let go of a submission until the ref stops the fight. There's an unspoken rule between fighters that if your opponent taps, then as a courtesy you stop applying more and more pressure, but you DO NOT let the submission go unless the ref stops the fight. So, if you feel your opponent tap, you stop cranking on the submission, but you hold the same amount of pressure until the ref stops the fight. If the ref doesn't stop it, then you start cranking again.

His brain was hit so hard it couldn't process what was going on. His brain figured out what was going on a second later and pretty much said "ight imma head out".
that's what happens when you get knocked out your brain can delay the time but when it does delay you just get put to sleep

@@JimmyTowz all a knockout is is literally your brain resetting itself. And yes it can be delayed. It can actually be delayed up to 30 to 45 seconds or sometimes more. It just all depends on where you get hit at
