    That end zone play is the perfect example of what Revis would do. He would control the receiver so they were always in the worst position to catch the football. They would be sandwiched between Revis and the sidelines so the QB just wouldn't throw the ball his direction. The most astonishing part of the stat line is Johnson only had four targets. I don't know for sure but he probably averaged over 10 targets per game that season.

    • @DarkKnightofHeaven
      @DarkKnightofHeaven Před 3 lety +137

      Using numbers from football reference. He played 15 games and was targeted 137 times. This puts his targets per game around 9.1
      That being said, Darrelle Revis had a 4 year peak before that nasty knee injury in 2012. Even then though, not being quite the same as he was, he appeared in 3 probowls afterwards. Even Revis at 80% what he was was still a top 10 corner in the league. Revis island is a prime vacation spot because you might as well relax, you aren't going to be doing anything anyways.

      Revis might be the best all around cb to ever play. Unlike most top corners defensive scheme didn't really matter as he could play man 2 man or zone, he could also play left/right/nickel which most top corners don't do as they like to stay to one side or at least to the left or right. I will say though that Champ Bailey in his prime was insanely dangerous and I'd put him right up there with Revis when it comes to locking down the opponents best receivers.

      Ty Law had 10 interceptions in a year for the Jets because our D was terrible and couldn't get off the field. Not knocking Champ, but the Jets actually had top ranked defenses those years BECAUSE of Revis (2006 Broncos was middle of the pack). In 2009, they only allowed 8 passing TDs the entire season despite facing Brady twice, Peyton, Brees, Palmer, Matt Ryan. 2009-2010 Revis is the best corner of all time. No other corner has ever been left on an island week in and out like he was and dominated. Much respect to Champ though. He was a beast

    I love Revis, and I think he's probably my #2 DB all time behind Prime Time. That said, I think his match ups with Moss is a little unfair considering Randy was past his prime. Sure, Moss still had his leaping ability and route running, but he wasn't the same blazer he once was. He wasn't getting behind defenses, but Brady was putting a lot of ball on the money and Moss still could go get it. In his prime, Randy would've burned him cause no one can keep up with #84 unless your name was Deon Sanders.

    When you are a fan of a team, you hope that in your lifetime, there comes a player who makes you excited for Sundays to come. As a Jets fan, I looked forward to seeing Revis on Sundays. What a joy to watch. But you know something, his technique was phenomenal on his approach to opposing WRs. During the playoff runs, Colts turned to Pierre Garcon in AFC title game because Revis locked down half the field with Reggie Wayne. Steelers turned to a rookie named Antonio Brown to seal the deal in AFC title game because Hines Ward was locked up. Every week Revis was on his game. Taking half a field away is extremely hard to do. And he went wherever the #1 WR went. We will never see it, but I would have loved to see Revis defend Tyreke Hill straight up. He wasn't giving up 10 yard cushions either.

    The Jets that year had a top 3, arguably best defense that year. In competition with Ray Lewis Ravens defense and a Troy Polamalu steelers defense.
    The lions had a one man show offense where Stafford would literally rely on Calvin to make plays or open the defense for others to barely get open. There's a reason they were 6-10 that year. Revis also got away with pass interfence, as did most corners that lined up on Megatron

      @@waleedb3191 megatron was stronger but moss could jump higher and was as fast as tyreek hill. I’m just saying that this wasn’t revis’ first time seeing a cheat code.

      @@man-thing6374 Im sorry Moss was talented too but Calvin physically was out of this world bro. He had a 350 yard game if he played longer he could've broke every receiver record but the lions organization sucks. CALVIN HAD 2 receivers and a safety line up on him in a game too.
