      Not exactly true. Because what is considered a good diet is extremely debatable. And diet is a huge part of it. There’s evidence that supports plant based just as there is evidence to support a carnivore diet. I think in reality the Mediterranean diet is probably best but who knows. Extremely conflicting opinions from subject matter experts and everyone has studies to back themselves up.

    I was eatting 3 eggs 2 strips of bacon and a bowl of museli for decades for breakfast. I Looked ok but my body felt like it was slowly decaying. I ate tons of meat, accompanied by veggies and grains. Tons of gluten. Tons of whey and dairy. I worked out tho and im not fat so its gotta be ok. Not really. My body was shouting out signs of dis-ease. Skin cancers, canker sores, liver pains, headaches, brainfog, depression, anti social behavior, agressive attitude, sore body, etc. Thank to Toms( and others) videos I have totally revamped my diet and I do feel pretty good. ( being realistic) now for breakfast i make a veggie skillet. diced red potato, green, pepper, red pepper, onion, white mushroom, nutritional yeast, seasoning, broccoli, and one chopped up hardboiled egg. with a side of berries orange or grapefruit. I have this breakfast 7 days a week and i feel so good and my digestion is so damn good. i reduced red meat to maybe 1 time a week opposed to 5-7 days a week and eat more salmons and sardines( but not too much) I have bowls daily completely meatless with cauilflower rice, beans, avacacods, pepper, onions, tomatos. reduced dairy to almost none. Huge variety of fruit and veg mainly. Tell you what my energy in gym is good and my sexual aptitude is like 23 years old and im not so anti social and engage in life a little more. I feel this is not placebo but true healing

    Scary that they didn't even talk about Omega 6 as being highly inflammatory, and I don't mean just the typical bogeymen of canola, etc. Sesame is all omega 6. Sunflower is vritually all omega 6. Chicken is super high - the highest in fact. Then they never discussed down regulating inflammation with green juices, which are perhaps the most powerful way possible. They seem to know most of the things to avoid, but not what to add, which would be green juices with whole lemons ground in with them, peels and all, making it super potent vitamin C complex and full of antioxidants.
    No mention of the B complexes and the way they heal the myelin sheath, which is highly inflamed in all cases of "nerves" and stress. B1 and its role there, and B1 and its role in ATP production, this is crucial to the whole concept of recovery from stress related inflammation.
    And then there is the exercise part, not even mentioned, unless they mentioned it in the last five minutes which I tuned out. Look, regular cardio exercise has profound effects on stress and inflammation. Just look at how it helps with an inflamed prostate.
    Why have such a long interview and spend so much of it talking about meat versus vegetables, and then miss out on the opportunity to mention all this other stuff?
    Sorry if I'm grousing but I'm going to.

      I feel like and rightly so that Tom was steering the interview towards questions that he was interested in and that may be why thy didn't cover those topics. My take was how important it is to correct the stomach first i would guess that things like green juices could be a bad start if you have stomach problems. Its usually not so much fiber in only juice and high in fast carbohydrates.

As a society we shy away from accepting that alot of us have shit parents who had shit parents and will likely become shit parents unless we're willing to give ourselves compassion and work through that trauma. As a society we are addicted to escapism, resilience is rarely practiced as we have so many mediums out there to numb us from our emotional pain, food being a massive one.

If 2 ppl eat the exact same food. one eats w/happiness & joy, and the other eats w/stress & gloom/heavy heart, it definitely affect their bodies differently. One is more inflamed & the other is not. @C Van Horn be very careful with the belief system about fructose. Very careful. There's a reason that cancer thrives on fructose, and there's a reason that it creates fatty liver and insulin resistance, which completely destroys hormone balances. If you want to drink juices, don't make them sweet no matter what source. While healing fatty liver you have to avoid all forms of fructose, even the so called healthy fruits. Some fruits have zero sugar (lemons) and some will put you in fatty liver hell, give you a fructose belly, screw you up to the point where your prostate will break down and you will be chasing your testosterone tail for the rest of your life.
      You're talking to an expert on fooling himself with sugar. Believe me, it's easy to stay addicted to sweet and never know what truck ran you over.

    Tom- Thank you for putting out such great content. I have listened to you for years and take the advice of your amazing guests seriously in my own life. Additionally, I have listened intently to your struggles as you and your wife have tried to solve her health issues. I have now found myself in a similar situation with my boyfriend. He is LITERALLY allergic to everything "fresh" and was forced (due to lack of knowledge/understanding) to eat processed foods, meat and potatoes to survive without allergic reactions. As you might guess; his gut health, skin and overall mental acuity are affected in a dramatic way. I am baffled by his reactions to fresh foods due to the fact that his mother used to serve him fresh fruits and veggies from her garden with no reaction. I would give anything to help solve his health issues and have even started my own organic garden in hopes to eliminate as many pesticides and chemicals as possible. In addition to listening to your incredible guests/podcasts can you suggest a place to start?

I know and know it clearly I’d never feel at peace in the long run and it’d ruin my life even more, not less.
    But still, I can’t seem to re-direct this feeling of emptiness and uneasiness to anywhere else. I know I need to distract myself for my the brain neuron to weaken over the time. Still, I guess the pain is too much at that moment. I think it’s not that different from drug’s withdrawal. 😂

    What a brilliant discussion! Love punch me please! I have made so many changes the past few years but suffering PTSD and severe stress has me caught up in a cycle of a few bad habits that I NEED to break and soon. But dang the autopilot of the brain often shows up before the intelligent brain and makes for "we'll try again tomorrow". There was the saying "everything in moderation". So glad that as been dispelled and that I am now on board with giving my all to my wellbeing. I have been kind to my psyche and have moved forward in a steady way over the past 2 years. Now 95-99% organic food and organic plant- based supplements as needed. No more antacids as doctor recommended, resist antibiotics when feasible, lots of fermented foods. All this has taken some time to learn, feel certain about and most of all resolve the stress issues I've had since very young. Last hurdle, I think, is just breaking through habits that once felt to serve me and patiently waiting to experience the full spectrum of health that I know is possible. Onwards and to those in a similar situation, keep trying on the daily. We will get there together!

      Nancy Fielden - I feel ya! Look in to micro dosing pasychedelics. It sounds crazy, but it it is groundbreaking research for those suffering from ptsd, depression, addiction, anxiety, and more. I found “Meetups” groups that get together to discuss these issues with people who have done this, and share their stories and struggles. Also, I highly recommend watching the new series on the Gaia channel that Dr. Joe Dispenza has created. His books are amazing, but his new series is mind blowing. Rewired with Dr. Joe Dispenza. You can get a free 2 week trial, and watch the 4 episodes he has put out so far. If you love the site like I do, keep it up, if not your not committed. Win-win. Good luck.

    Good talk! We are not Keto, but we are whole food eaters. I was born with autoimmune conditions., so ended up gravitating to healhier eating as a way to save myself....BUT, "what is stacking up against us?" Long before round-up, ....Well, my parents and grandparents smoked like chimneys just for one! And they were sugar - a - holics for two. But a lot of chemicals in their environments as well. So who is to know? All we can do is try to "clean up" our entire lifestyles (food, air quality, household consumer goods and so on) moving forward for the sake of ourselves and the next generations. Thanks for hosting this guest speaker. Baggage and trauma is HUGE too. I'm so glad he brought that up as well.

    • @dearmamajj
      @dearmamajj Před 4 lety +2

      @@cosmichealth3907 Hi. For me diet is key. I am allergic to all nuts, but I also avoid all processed foods, gluten, most grains, dairy and soy. I have to lay very low on organ meats, fish, eggs, and seafood, lentils and beans. I even have to lay low on gluten free oats. Almost all foods that are high protein (and or high in fat), will cause me to go downhill if I eat too much. They seem to have a cumulative effect on me. So I primarily eat fresh fruits and vegetables. The way I eat isn't so far from the new Canadian Food Guide in a way, since its primary focus is also vegetables and fruits. I eat ALL the types of veggies and fruits - even the "starchy" vegetables or "sugary" fruits like mangos. I do not worry about "high carb". The only ones I eat in moderation are tomatoes. And right now I am avoiding green peppers. The closest way of eating to mine would be on my least strict a whole food Mediterranean type style, OR, Paleo or Whole Food Plant Based styles (all while still avoiding the gluten, dairy and soy of course), and when I am really sick and need to feel better, I eat like the AIP Paleo style or Medical Medium's 28 Day "Detox" diet. If I try to eat the "standard American Diet", wowzers do I get onslaughted with problems. I recently faultered and was eating a bit more "normally" (a bit too much meat, eggs, sugar, fish, beans, oats) and I ended up with severe fatigue, digestive problems, and then GOUT of all things. I have been doing the 28 day detox and its only 14 days and my gout is almost completely healed and I feel "human" again. It was a wake up call for me, that no matter how much I want to be like everyone else and be able to eat certain things (even in moderation), I just can't. I have a huge long list of problems that are gone as long as I stay strict on the diet, including life long eczema that dermatologists and allergists always swore up and down was not food related. I supplement vegan DHA to get some omega 3s. I also take vitamin D...I hope you don't mind the long response and if you have any more questions feel free to fire away :)
