EVERYONE HATES THE PORSCHE 718 BOXSTER (EXCEPT FOR ME)

  • "On paper the Porsche 718 Boxster is better in every aspect: more power; improved chassis dynamics and balance. FASTESTLAPS.com shows the Porsche 718 Boxster competing with many cars above its’ rank.
It’s rear-biased weight ratio of 45-to-55 means its nimble, very nimble. I was able to throw anything at it and it corrected me out of bad situations. Put short, I did things in this car I wasn’t able to in the Alfa Romeo 4c.
Retuned suspension and the adopted 911 Turbo steering system meant higher speeds on tighter turns. The rigid chassis with damping system made it the perfect car for any day of the week, providing a smooth ride throughout most road conditions."

It's all in the head (ears). I have my 718 for nearly 3 years and am super happy with it ! I can understand that if you compare the sound between the 981 and 718 (982) that the flat 6 sounds better than the 4, BUT I came from a Golf GTI, so to me my 718 sounds great. Imagine no one knew the previous models then anyone would say that this a stunning, fantastic car with super performance and a superb value for money for this kind of performance. So don't compare it with it's previous models. Unfortunately Porsche needs to adapt to the environmental regulations which results into these kind of engines. And as others here have mentioned : a lot of viewers only know the 718 from CZcams video's and have not driven the car themselves, so they ought not to judge...

I didn't hate this car that's for sure, I'd definitely argue the 981 has a very different sound. What's more important is you're enjoying yourself. This car is a gem! So it is a 4 cylinder but it is in fact more powerful than the model it replaced, 300 ponies and less than 3000 lbs. does the trick. As the price of gas keeps climbing this car is kinder on your pocket. Do I need to get 2more cylinders for another 95 hp's? My answer is no.
The car design and profile is awesome. Mine is metallic black on the outside and all red in the inside. It is a looker. It has one two prizes in two PCA Concourses of Elegance. You can remedy the sound with an aftermarket exhaust, which most car enthusiasts add anyway. I think just like the 996 Turbo, the 718 will bottom out and start to appreciate.
