I have the Henry in 38/357 - they are beautifully built. Lots of folks put red dots or scopes on their rifle. But, you shot very well with the semi-buckhorn. Your gun looks very sharp with the large loop lever change. Good luck with it!

Love my Henry 44 magnum. I would love to see you do gelatin testing especially with the critical defense/ duty round and Hornady 240 XTP. For shooting at 100 yards or so especially if hunting I'd go with a 3-9 power for really good accuracy.

Right now it’s 121 dollars at optics planet. Don’t let the price fool you it’s a great scope. It’s a short scope so you don’t have to remove the iron sights to mount the scope and 2-7 is plenty of zoom for the distance this rifle is intended to shoot.

Based on my understanding they only have a few models in 357/38 with the Octagon barrel.
Case Hardened with side load gate - Most expensive option
Brass or Silver Receiver - No side gate
I have the Big Boy with brass receiver and octagon barrel. Yeah, no side gate, but I'm still very happy with the firearm. These things are super accurate out of the box.

I recently got the color case hardened 357 mag carbine big boy with the side loading gate. I put a Leupold vx3-hd 2.5-8x36 on mine and I think it's just about perfect for it. I did not have to remove my rear sight, I just lowered it down as far as it would go and it has just enough clearance for that 36mm objective. I used that one piece Talley mount that Henry shows on their website for the big boys. I think a Leupold is the perfect match for the Henry for two reasons. First and foremost they're made in America just like your Henry. Second I think that classic gold Leupold ring matches up nicely with the brass magazine tube on the Henry. And of course Leupold is quality stuff. I enjoy shooting my Henry so much that I already have a second one on the way. It's their Magnum Express rifle in 22 mag. I might suggest adding a Williams 5D or FP receiver sight. The one's that mount to the side of the receiver, looks better than the ones that mount on top of the receiver. The added length of sight radius along with more precise alignment greatly increases accuracy without adding the bulk of a scope which decreases the handiness of a lever action.

@@Nutty.357 That screw loosens the little diamond insert but it only lets you move it up or down in a little slot. I guess you could use that to change how deep the diamond sits in the notch for a different sight picture. You still have to tap it over for windage. They actually tell you to tap the rear sight for windage. They have added a set screw to the dovetail on the rear to lock it in after you tap it over which is good cause I always worry about it moving getting bumped ort something.

    With 44's i prefer fixed 2x20mm or 1-4×20mm.
It's non-long-range although capable but most likely a short distance thumper. A quick optic with longer eye relief for snap shots in woods hunting is practical and less cumbersome looking...

I have two others one is on my KS7 12 gauge and the other is on my Henry Brass Side Gate 45-70 Govt. The site picture is perfect for 100+/- yard shots and the laser is dead on. It's very easy to zero the laser once you have the optic set just adjust the laser to its point of strike. Firefield says that this optic is good to .50 cal.
