  • Phillippe Park is a place of great natural beauty located on Old Tampa Bay near the town of Safety Harbor, Florida. Once it was the capital of an indigenous people called the Tocobaga. When Spanish explorers came to the area, they brought European diseases for which the Tocobaga had no natural immunity and they were virtually annihilated. In the mid-eighteen hundreds, a French nobleman named Odet Phillippe purchased the land for a citrus plantation. The park is named in his honor.

We have been to Phillipe park hundreds of times. Our favorite place in Pinellas. Take a picnic or just take a comfortable lawn chair and read.Very quiet surroundings.Enjoy the dolphins frolicking in the wake from the boats, or swim in the clear water. On Easter Sunday enjoy the beautiful sunrise service.

I grew up a few blocks from the park. As kids we would ride our bikes through there at night. It was very scary at night as a 12 year old!
