Anybody else notice that the damage on target effect is basically Blanka 'schocking' each opponent? I thought it was very cool flavor.

Also if you remember playing street fighter, blanka's shock ability was done by holding down and quickly tapping the attack button which to me casting several spells a turn is the mtg version of repeatedly tapping attack. Thought it was a definite flavor win
This whole secret lair is so on-the-nose clever!
Keen sense is an auto include for this deck. It says any damage, not just combat damage, so every time you target your commander, you draw a card for each opponent. On a 1 mana sure that also triggers your commander on cast
So should be Snake Aura. It is a targeting spell and pure gas too

I'm kinda surprised that mitch didn't mention any green fight spells or ones that say "target creature deals damage equal to its power to target creature" as a way for removal

@@io4878 I don't think a vanilla legend would do Dan justice. He has to have an actively detrimental ability that could, with creative use, actually become good in the right circumstance. Something like a taunt effect that forces an enemy creature to attack you and then make it so that Dan must block that creature and make Dan a 0/1 when he blocks (that way stat buffs do not work on him). But you could do something like make him indestructible and use his taunt to deal with important creatures you need to not block or let him die and do some graveyard shenanigans ect. I think that would hit the flavor of Dan being his own worst enemy but also the flavor of how even though he is a joke character, under the right circumstances, with the right player, Dan can do some amazingly hilarious stuff (like his infinite combo in Street Fighter V).

Technically, this is a partner commander. You can clearly see Dan in the background.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe "becomes the target of a spell" could also work with Auras with "Enchant Creature". any card on the stack is considered a Spell, and to enchant something you need to target it. So another direction to take this deck.
Replying to myself here, but I just realized it should also work with "Bestow" and "Mutate" effects.

@@Urd-Vidan Ahh, you're right. I seem to have overlooked the Non-Human requirement while thinking of things that would be a spell, and that would target Blanka. Thanks for correcting me!

@@92bagder Spells are no longer spells once they leave the stack. Xenagos targeting Blanka with its ability won't trigger Blanka.

I actually made a Jared Carthalion, True Heir deck that this card could slot perfectly into. I basically may it into a Fight deck using Feather and Mavinda to cycle the target spells(which works very well since you can replace Mavinda exile with Feather's to play stuff later when both out) with Zada and Mirrorwing Dragon to spread the love. Its been very fun to play with even though it kind of wants to do a lot.
This fits well with fight cards. Neyith just got an upgrade!

How did Mitch not mention Gargos the watcher for this deck? Each of those cantrips also turn into creature removal with gargos on the field

whip silk should also work! enchant, bounce back, enchant again etc

This card is pretty funny it's very similar to my tana krark deck
No mention at all on the "Curiosity effect" auras (Keen Sense, Snake Umbra0 ? Draw 3 each time you target Blanka with a spell seems so damn good and there is no downside in running those cards even if you just hit 1 opponent with combat damage afterward

This is pretty awesome, I just know its going to be premium priced. That being said, it lends itself to an unconventional voltron burn mashup. Damage doublers with lifelink would be the dream.

Rather than build a RU prowess deck AND an Blanca deck, I could just combine the two.

Would that be three separate Blanca triggers since it’s 3 different targets or just 1 since it’s one spell??
I asked on a judge group once and they said the creature is only becoming the target of a spell once, even if the spell targets them multiple times.

Don't worry, this genre of commanders are not cashgrab exclusives: they come printed in sets some time after...as set/collector boosters exclusives...
I wasn’t sold with the previous 2 crossovers but I love fighting games so I’m actually hype for these versions.
I would legitimately not complain about a crossover with Guilty Gear, BlazBlue etc. especially since those properties have magic as a part of their series.
And if Final Fantasy didn’t already have their own card game in full swing I would have loved seeing that crossover too.
Yeaaaah as much as I hate the secret lair system, I may have to get this one as a huge fighting games fan

No they’ll be treated like the godzilla cards i believe. Having the alt cards name in a smaller box under the cards name.

Can you possibly combo off with Zada?
Possibly, as Blanka triggers when being targeted by a spell and not if it was cast. Cast a cantrip on Zada, it copies for each other creature you control and targets them, triggering Blanka once.

@@tonydiazist Make a bunch of tokens, play a bunch of cantrips and pump spells on Zada, all your creatures are pumped, Blanka burns your opponents for each spell cast that ultimately targeted him, swing with your army at the remaining players?
@@BaikenAndEggs yes most of the string can trips in red are in my zada deck and that's the deck I've put the most money into so i can spice them together eventually and test the waters

Isn't this part of a secret lair? Or am I wrong? Just asking because I'm not seeing the same hate the walking dead set got. Is it suddenly ok for limited print, mechanically unique cards that are legal to play?
They have since changed the rules on Secret Lairs, where they will not long afterward print a mechanically identical card in a Standard set (and they share a name in the same way as the Godzilla cards did, so you can't use them to sidestep the limit of copies of a card).
Hmm wouldn't the storm cards trigger Blanka once? The rest are copies not spells.
Copies are still spells. They can be countered by cards that read "counter target spell", so it should work with blanka

Commander damage is only for combat damage.
Love the show! Why would you promote using proxies? The point of a collector game is to collect and build. The pride of owning the actual cards is the point of collecting. If you own it, you can use it. If you don't own an actual card then you can't play it. The point is to collect, not print. I understand the point for individuals who can't afford the cards. But then maybe you need to focus your life on being able to afford the game of magic. Promoting proxies ruins the game. Take pride in what you've collected. Don't cheat. Uhg I'm not a negative person. If you can't afford a deck. Barrow one frome someone who can. Don't print. I have plenty and give stuff away and trade all the time. You can go to leg's, make trade, sell cards to get what you want. Stop promoting Proxies please!! I know this will feed into some negativity. Idc. Just stop saying print proxies. If somone is thinking about it, they don't need you to send the message out to the masses. It will ruin the game if everyone prints.
