      It’s so worth it, huh? How you liking it thus far? For whatever reason, it feels a little more responsive to me, a little snappy. I think it’s because of changing my ride height, and angle... however, the weight difference is actually noticeable.

    I’m in the same boat you are. I have a 2009 Allez in excellent shape and these would be awesome on my bike.

      A10FT200LBPUMA These bars are 111% worth it, if you can trade or get them for a reduced price. I will say, I’ll probably run carbon-aero bars, on all my builds, because I love the profile of them, and I can be a bit of a weight weenie. The 38 feels close to a 42 in the drops, the only noticeable difference is in the top flat. Did the 2010 Allez come with the Fact Carbon front fork? Also, what drivetrain you running?

      @@phx_fox I just saw this in my notifications lol, my Allez came with a fact carbon fork. My drivetrain is currently still a Tiagra/Sora 2x9 but I’m currently sourcing parts for a ultegra/105 combo. I did just install a new Zipp Speed stem.

  • @TheUnrevealer
    @TheUnrevealer Před 3 lety

    Got sl speed stem too, just for how good it looks and that clamping area of the fork sterrer has no cutouts, so even clamping force is applied and risk of cracking carbon steerer tube is minimized. Cant decide should I get carbon handlebars or not. How does if feel in comparison to aluminium? Does it damp vibrations more? And aero benefits... well suffice to say i doubt it would make a difference, as I did not felt any when changed to deep section wheels. But looks so cool:)

    • @phx_fox
      @phx_fox  Před 3 lety

      I’ve rode them long and hard for about multiple seasons over the span of a year and half, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to aluminum for my road bikes. I’m a bit of a weight weenie… and that’s ultimately about the only gain (or loss) you get from them. Its nothing substantial but, I love the look of them, plus the weight loss. Does actually make the bike lighter.

      @@phx_fox when you talk about good wheels, you hardly get any less grams, unless you spend 3k+. Plenty aluminium wheels get to 1400 gram range too. In the end it is looks mostly what make you feel better and faster:)

      @@TheUnrevealer I 100% agree. It’s mostly looks. Though, I Cary my bike up and down a flight of stairs, daily… and I do feel an actual slight difference in weight. Granted, I’ve replaced many parts on this particular bike… but, yup mostly looks. Which, I mean… why not? It’s fun to modify cars, bikes at a surface level or a mode of transportation just as cars… so meh, why not mod it. Hahhaaa

    Dying to have found someone with a 38cm... 38 cm in the hoods, c-c but what about in the drops?? No one can answer me this. Zipp says that the bar has some flare but what I want to know is how that translate to width in the drops. Please let me know. Thanks!!

    • @phx_fox
      @phx_fox  Před 3 lety

      It’s 38 in the drops. It does flare out just a bit, but it does feel natural. It’s a natural flare, contours the wrist. Best I can compare it to is, these bars (flare included) will fit inside my 42 bars. :) hope this helps! I can add measurements if that’s what you’re asking!

    • @PedroPrego
      @PedroPrego Před 3 lety

      @@phx_fox yeah, I saw your video and you said they were 38cm bars. Zipp measures at the hoods so I assume they are 38cm at the hoods. But given that the bars have flare (supposedly 4° flare) Im trying to understand what this 4° translate when in the drops. For a 38cm bars (at the hoods), does it translate to some 40cm in the drops?

    • @phx_fox
      @phx_fox  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello again, just measured... yes, the “flare” is roughly 39.5-40.00 in the drops. 38 at the hoods.

      @@phx_fox cool. Exactly what I'm looking for. I'm just waiting for the new logo version to arrive to my area. I've been told that they now di2 compatible which previously they were not even though I've also read people saying that was very easy to turn then di2 compatible. Thanks for the info!!
      In my region no shop could give that info and Zipp now redirects all contacts to the local distributors.

    • @phx_fox

      Pretty well! I lean on the top, like normal bars. The drops are ergonomically correct.. so I find, my wrists and hands get less fatigued, in long rides.

    Space for mounting the GPS?

    • @phx_fox
      @phx_fox  Před 3 lety

      Not the typical space for mounting on the side of stem. I think garmin makes a special stem mount, that mounts to the face plate (clamp) of the stem.
