- If you'd just looked at her eyes, you wouldn't know she was dying. But the advanced cancerous tumor on her backside was slowly taking this beautiful street dog's life.
The cancer type is called a Transmissible Venereal Tumor, (TVT) and it usually affects the reproductive areas. A several month course of weekly IV chemotherapy is necessary to shrink the tumor. But it is not always successful, and the more advanced the tumor is, the more difficult the recovery. If a dog's overall condition has been greatly weakened by the cancer, he or she cannot always be saved.

In the US she would have been euthanized right away. This sweet an gentle soul received all the love and care possible, and you gave her a second chance to life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are true animal lovers.

That is not true
It's true a vet would recommend euthanasia in this case but I know here (Australia) you're the one that makes the choice. I'm not 100% sure it's ethical to put an animal through chemo especially if the prognosis isn't good. Chemo is a poison that you get pumped into your veins and you hope it kills the cancer before it damages your healthy systems too much. The side effects of chemo are very similar in dogs and people, and I'm not sold on the idea that it's ethical to do to an animal who doesn't understand what's happening.

That looked like a transmissible venereal tumour (TVT) to me. It's a type of cancer that can actually be passed from dog to dog, usually during mating, and it tends to respond really well to chemo. Pinu should have a long, happy life ahead of her.

Oooo, that was a nasty wound, she was so pale in the gums when she came in. But with modern medicine and the loving touch bythe staff and technicians , which i believe gos a long way to help in the recovery process. Knowing you are loved and matter … it makes all the diffrence. Thank you all at AAU.

Thank you for taking the time to heal this girl. I hate cancer with a passion. I am a survivor, but I lost my mom to leukemia in June 2012. I lost my nanny this year in February to pancreatic cancer. The fact that cancer can take any life just destroys me. I wish it didn't take children and animals too. Thank you for helping this sweet soul.
