RIP to Mr. Abdul "Duke" Fakir who passed away today at the age of 88 of heart failure at his home in Detroit. He was the group's sole surviving original member and performed with the group until just a short time before his passing. Four Tops Forever
Bin 63 Jahre alt und mit all diesen Songs vieler Gruppen gross geworden. Eine Wahnsinnszeit. Unvergesslich und weckt viele Erinnerungen. Aber die 80er waren auch supertoll.
Levi Stubbs is a great singer .But more importantly he is an example of what a man should be and act .We throw the word role model around. But that is what Levi Stubbs is .
Levi Stubbs had a fantastic voice. And when he passed away there was a tiny mention of it towards the back of an issue of rolling stone. This guy should have been on the front page of magazines for what he did for Motown.
Brian Epstein thought that the Four Tops were to Detroit what the Beatles were to Liverpool. He was in the process of negotiating something big with Berry Gordy when he passed away in 1967.
So I guess this shows that they had been out of action by the time little shop was in production, maybe even disbanded. So it makes me why they still had to get a solo contract then? Because if they had been out of action for a few years by 1985/86, wouldn't of their record contract have expired by then??
Until little shop of horrors came around? But I reckon the four tops hadn't released any new music for a few years by the time lsoh had entered production...
Many memories with the four tops songs I'm so glad I grew up in the time I did musically I would not give nothing for the rubbish that's pumped out now
Best motown song ever...best group ever...levi stubbs best singer ever...tops best harmony ever lets c beyonce kanye west taylor sound like this 50 yrs down the road and still be as loved by the fans as the tops will be for generations to come !!🚓🇺🇸
I'm actually shedding a tear right now hearing this song wishing times were still like this with the best of music. It takes me back to the good old days when the world was much better!
Totally hear you. I'm a 90s boy, grunge was my thing, but the first time I heard this song and the Four Tops, i was sold. Pop perfection, soul personified. The great thing about being born later, is that we can travel back through time to hear the best of the best. The legends. The Four Tops are in my top 5 bands of all time. Pure class.

My parents listened to Motown music like this when they were teens and then they passed it down to me. I love how music can move through generations and create new memories.
You're sweet as a honey bee But like a honey bee stings You've gone and left my heart in pain All you left is our favorite song The one we danced to all night long It used to bring sweet memories Of a tender love that used to be Now it's the same old song But with a different meaning Since you been gone It's the same old song But with a different meaning Since you been gone I, oh I Sentimental fool, am I To hear a old love song and wanna cry 'Cause the melody keeps haunting me Reminding me how in love we used to be Keep hearing the part that used to touch my heart Saying together forever, breaking up never It's the same old song But with a different meaning Since you been gone But it's the same old song But with a different meaning Since you been gone Precious memories keep a lingering on Every time I hear our favorite song Now you're gone, left this emptiness I only reminisce the happiness we spent We used to dance to the music Make romance through the music Now it's the same old song But with a different meaning Since you been gone It's the same old song But with a different meaning Since you been gone I, oh I It's the same old song But with a different meaning Since you been gone It's the same old song
This happened sometime back in the 80's. I was listening to an oldies station and a song came on that I didn't like. They have been playing this song a lot. So I shouted out: 'Why do they keep playing the same old songs'? I pushed the button on by car radio to change the station and It's the Same old Song was playing.
because the "you know who's" who run the music industry control what is released, and they want to push more degraded (depraved) and lower quality music on the masses
I'm from the 70's, but I truly love music from the 60's, especially Motown. The Four Tops are my very favorite!! Awsome, timeless music. Today's music does not compare, its crap. Thank you for sharing..
Great music by the Four Tops. Levi Stubbs was very underated because of so much talent coming out the motor city. Levi had numerous chances to go solo but to his credit he would never leave his childhood friends. He was one of the rare ones because most front men left the groups to go solo. Great singer better person. RIP Levi Stubbs Mr Top he definitely was the big spin.
I'm an American WHITE Man, this is talent and I come to listen weekly. Amazing. (I absolutely hate (c)rap "music" and have since day 1, but this here is very good.
This, like most of the other Motown hits,is one of the catchiest songs ever made. Even 50+ years later, this is still a great song. Barry had the hitsville formula really dialed in on this one.

They were genuinely close to each other. From their formation in 1953, there was no lineup change until one of them died in 1997:
2024❤
RIP Duke..All Four reunited in heaven today
Music from 1950's-1970's was the best of all time. 99% of nowadays Music cannot reach it for miles and miles

Aber die 80er waren auch supertoll.
Still listening to the Great Four Tops in 2024 !
Duke Fakir (guy with the glasses) died today on July 22, 2024. He was the last surviving, original Four Tops member. 😔😔😔
Still 100 times better than anything in the charts today
A million times better

Makes me cry too. The memories of being young and the joy of dancing to this music. Such a long time ago when life was so good and carefree.
Don't cry. My wife of 36 years old loves these oldies like this group. I'm 62 and will never forget them, I still sing their songs too!!
I'm not interested
You can’t beat Motown 😁.. best music ever
RIP Abdul Duke Fakir , back together with all your brothers from the Four Tops ❤

RIP Duke, what a group. Only words to describe them is AWSOME.
RIP Duke Fakir 😢. The Four Tops music will live on forever and ever
Levi Stubbs had a fantastic voice. And when he passed away there was a tiny mention of it towards the back of an issue of rolling stone. This guy should have been on the front page of magazines for what he did for Motown.
I list him as the greatest vocalist of all time. Before Elvis, Freddie, Adele, Layne… all of them. He sounds like an angel.
They need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!
Brian Epstein thought that the Four Tops were to Detroit what the Beatles were to Liverpool. He was in the process of negotiating something big with Berry Gordy when he passed away in 1967.
Best voice in rock and roll history
@@sookie4195 Thankfully, they are!
Absolutely sublime 4 fantastically talented men. You will all live on.

The best of pop and soul. Great dance moves. Great backup vocals.
50 years since this was released, but has there been a more perfect pop song written? What a talent
So I guess this shows that they had been out of action by the time little shop was in production, maybe even disbanded. So it makes me why they still had to get a solo contract then? @@aussiefurbymogwaifan6621 I don't know why think that. Have a look at their wikipedia entry en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Tops under "Return to Motown"
R.I.P Duke Fakir, the last surviving Four Tops member died today (July 22, 2024) 😔😔😔
Levi Stubbs..outstanding vocalist that was once asked to go alone, and politely said 'no'..classy and hugely talented...
I remember listening to these guys while delivering newspapers in the ‘60’s. Helped make the route seem shorter. 😊😊😊
I haven't right words for this man, other than phenomenal. I love him, he was the best. RIP levi.
Great Great Singer. Levi Stubbs.

You're sweet as a honey bee
But like a honey bee stings
You've gone and left my heart in pain
All you left is our favorite song
The one we danced to all night long
It used to bring sweet memories
Of a tender love that used to be
Now it's the same old song
But with a different meaning
Since you been gone
It's the same old song
But with a different meaning
Since you been gone
I, oh I
Sentimental fool, am I
To hear a old love song and wanna cry
'Cause the melody keeps haunting me
Reminding me how in love we used to be
Keep hearing the part that used to touch my heart
Saying together forever, breaking up never
It's the same old song
But with a different meaning
Since you been gone
But it's the same old song
But with a different meaning
Since you been gone
Precious memories keep a lingering on
Every time I hear our favorite song
Now you're gone, left this emptiness
I only reminisce the happiness we spent
We used to dance to the music
Make romance through the music
Now it's the same old song
But with a different meaning
Since you been gone
It's the same old song
But with a different meaning
Since you been gone
I, oh I
It's the same old song
But with a different meaning
Since you been gone

Levi had effortless talent. The epitome of a professional front man.
TrashPanda - plus he doesn’t have those drama that his Motown contemporaries had. He’s gone too soon.
Unforgettable experience seeing them perform in 1969 in slick suits.
For me, Levi is THE Man of Motown.
