@@-BenGaming-That 1/256 glitch is only in the original red and blue. I'm guessing there is something you were unaware of, such as an ability or an accuracy/evasion change you didn't notice.

Mikey plays pokemon in such a weird way. He uses legendary's, Items in battle, plays on switch mode... but also fights the champion severely under leveled
this isnt a complaint at all just sort of pointing out that dudes got a unique energy
It helps makes his challenge runs feel kind of more relatable tbh
i JUST rewatched mikeys "which game is the best in each gen" videos so seeing him not go LeafGreen and then realize he cant have Starmie or Slowbro is really funny
i find it funny how your rival's bird always get paralyzed by static and the one time it didnt it was from thunderbolt, end result was always getting paralyzed.
Wow, knowing how frustrating the challenge in Emerald was, I didn't think you'd go at it again in FireRed

Agreed. Its been quite a while since he did something like this. (technical ly his Miltank playthrough started as himself...). Would love to see a sequel to his normal moves only challenge. Or even an extreme randomizer (SV maybe)...

What about a challenge, where "new moves" in FRLG means moves from Y, GSS, RSE? So only non-enhanced gen 1 moves.
Honestly, I thought that's what he meant in the first place. But thinking on it...that's just playing Gen3 by Gen1 rules, so of course it can be done. It's just more annoying.
Fun fact in firered and leaf green charmander doesn’t have smokescreen as one of its first four moves so technically it may be a little better against Brock then originally thought because of metal claw as it’s actual fourth move. Bulbasaur is still probably the best option

@@TheDuos2andotherthings No it doesn't, take Brock in the Gen 3 remakes. It is easier to defeat him with a lvl 15 Charmander with Metal Claw then a lvl 15 Bulbasaur with Vine Whip or a lvl 15 Squirtle with Bubble. Even throughout the rest of the game(s) the Charmander Line is faster then the others and Speed can have a big impact on the battles AND the Charmander Line can also learn more damaging/offensive moves then the others.

Weird idea, what about a play through thats the exact opposite? You must apply new level up moves and get rid of the oldest move for it. You would also not be able to use any TMs but youd have to be careful about over leveling and losing moves for less desirable moves. :D

If someone is curious Starmie isn't good in this challenge because staryu learns bubble beam at level 28 and the highest level wild staryu before beating the League is level 25.
And the best water move the slowpoke line learns by level up in FRLG is water gun and can't get psychic since it is learnt in level 40 and the highest level one in the wild is 35.
So Tentacruel is still the best water type option in Leaf Green.
It's always refreshing to get back to gen 2, gen 3 or gen 4 games. They're my childhood and it will be great getting back to them in 50 years. Like that content.
That Dugtrio in Diglett's cave always was a great cheat in Gen 1 and 3 I remember getting one every time. Very helpful when you were back in 2004, being 10 years old and no internet as guide (Im german and german internet sucks, in 2004 many people didn't have it. Many of you american, british, russian, asian or any other heritage would be shocked in which bad state internet in germany was back in that days and still is in some regions)
Hopefully nobody tries to apply this challenge to real life.

HE FINALLY MADE ANOTHER ONE! My first video I watched of him was this but emerald and I really wanted another and he finally made it!
The Dugtrio thing was really cool because I found out about it, when I was around Ash’s age, in basically the same way.
At the last chance I had to catch it, before I got swept, it went into the Poké ball. Kinda like “Tough luck kid, but hey, you’ve got guts, let’s see where this goes.”
If we consider the possibility that Consent from the Pokemon itself is a part of the in lore catching process, that could very well have been the situation
@@CyColt It really stuck because of how McNuggets (later just nuggets) acted during the process. He (according to Stadium 2) was just ripping the Poké Balls apart like a Legendary would, then just suddenly stayed in. Sure, it’s just head canon, and I know that, but it’s like watching a magic show. “Yeah, obviously, but let’s have some suspension of disbelief, because that’s a cool trick.”
I did this challenge in leaf green after I saw the one you did in hoenn! My final team was raticate, machamp, alakazam, golem, articuno, moltres.
Honestly, guts adamant raticate with hyper fang was the mvp

Fun fact: The damage you deal actually scales _quadratically_ as your Pokemon levels up, because damage scales not just with a Pokemon's attacking stat, but also with its Level directly.

Fun Fact: FireRed is given all the exclusive Intimidate Pokemon, Ekans and Growlithe, while LeafGreen has all the Water/Psychic types, Starmie and Slowbro/Slowking. Leafgreen also has 1 more exclusive than FireRed, due to them using Wooper as the FireRed exclusive, which is comparative to Marill for Leafgreen, which gets Azurill as it's prequel. Firered however gets all the exclusive Steel types, Scisor and Skarmory
I know this challenge was already done in Hoenn, but I’d love to see it in ORAS. Using the DexNav to get really good moves would be interesting to see and allow more Pokémon to be useful

the terrible movesets in early gens is something a CZcamsr TheSmithPlays Pokemon is working on fixing with his rom hacks Pokemon Crystal Legacy (Completed) Pokemon Yellow Legacy (In development) and i think Pokemon Emerald or FR/LG have been proposed by him as well cant quite remember which one...he also made them slightly more difficult too. would love to watch you play one at some point if you ever feel it! awesome video again man !
I just realized that Gary’s pidgeot has been fighting Mikey’s pikachu the entire time then he switched it for that pikachu with thunderbolt and evolved it and the pidgeot probably thought it was the same pikachu😂

I like Mikey doing challenge runs because you can tell he does a lot of research, but not all the research that would be helpful to him. Like, he definitely didn't know that both Hitmons have a base 110 Special defense. It makes these runs feel more like something I would do, and I like that
