Kate is also the only singer to perform on 3 of the worlds biggest stages. Eurovision, Coachella and the New York Metropolitan Opera.
    She’s absolutely incredible!!

Kate's Caught In The Crowd is a similar song that shows off her incredible voice, plus it has a very honest take on how easy it is to be a bully....

The Last Day On Earth is great but I'm surprised Caught In The Crowd isn't the one people recommended. As for "You're the Voice", I'm okay with her version but nobody will come close to the original - so anything would come off second best in a comparison.

"In my head I replay our conversations
Over and over til they feel like hallucinations
You know me, I love to lose my mind
And every time anybody speaks your name I still feel the same
    I ache, I ache, I ache inside"
Reminds me of my mum. xo

Kate is a master of her craft. One of the most beautiful songs she performs. I was lucky enough to hear her bring this home last week in my local area. If you get a chance see Kate live.

This is the stuff that Kate Miller-Heidke usually does. She's an alternative music singer usually. And that's what she does best. And yes, she is classically trained. I know her singing teacher in Brisbane, Australia.

I’m stoked you are reacting to Katie again. She has such a unique voice. Very powerful yet soft. I’m sending you a little something from Australia, no it’s not vegemite.

  • @littleflick
    @littleflick Před 2 lety +19

Her performance and singing style is definitely very unique. When she does covers she does go kind of hog wild so you’re probably better to stick with her originals. Except for Psycho Killer because that’s insane. She is trained in opera and classical music.

Kate is a national treasure. You'll always find her covers of any song are extraordinarily unique. She tends to really work them into her own shape. Her own catalogue is amazing, this being one of her finest. Great working getting into her. If you find the time check out her grand final appearance in Eurovision, where she represented Australia in 2019

Her version of Psycho Killer is a great deal of fun and beautifully sung. The 2016 version live from Caloundra is outstanding. Also if you aren't familiar with Missy Higgins song "sound of white". She is another talented vocalist.

Thanks Nick for doing my reaction.
Yeah Kate Miller-Heidke is unique kind of talent . People normally back off because her classical operatic training and how Kate Miller-Heidke has infused her operatic training with indie pop .
Kate infused genres because she loves songwriting and there’s not that much new songwriting within Opera Music scene . Kate has even wrote her own Australian based Opera The Rabbits .
Kate Miller-Heidke like the Challenge of her own interpretation of a good cover . Like Talking Heads - Psycho Killer
Britney Spears - Toxic and even a cover of
Eminem - The Real Slim Shady are all so different from the originals but Kate make them work .
Kate has also co written with Tina Arena . This song Last Day On Earth is Kate Miller-Heidke’s most successful song hit was massive hit in Australia when it was released in 2008

Unsurprisingly she trained and first performed as an opera singer with Opera Queensland.
She is a bit of an unusual and quirky artist. Often I find that I appreciate her artistic qualities more than actually like her songs although she has some great songs - including this one.

ive always loved this song. it feels like a post apocalyptic film. it was her first hit and sadly i never liked anything else she did. this song though makes me very emotional, that part "every time somebody speaks your name i ache i ache i ache inside" I have never seen this live version but it was so similar to the studio version im impressed.

You have been listening to songs she was not known for. This is not the studio version but try the song "words". The version of the Eurovision was the Australian entry version and not at the event. It was much better as the event for Zero Gravity. She has a sense of humour try Christmas Landfill. The concert in San Francisco with Ben Folds shows off her voice. czcams.com/video/1qsIZp3Y7A8/video.html and the crowd loved it.

      It’s not.
“A lot of people online seem to think I am heralding the end of the world in 2012; others have suggested it is about a soldier who isn’t coming home because the video is filmed in an old house,” she says. “Someone suggested it is about miscarriage because I am clutching my stomach during the video.
“It’s all of those things … it comes down to the emotion of the music that people have connected with, the emotion of grief and loss and heartbreak. And yes, the tears in the video were 100 per cent real but after about 10 takes I was all dried up.”

I understand you’re too famous and fancy now to take requests from the plebs who don’t contribute financially (lol). But you can have this recommendation for free my brother... after all it’s all about the music...
Kate Millar-Heidke and Paul Dempsey covering George Michael’s Careless Whispers on Rockwiz.
If you look at it, even if you don’t review it, I’ll sling you AUS $50.00. Which would probably get you a few gallons of gas yo

Some of her other songs where she "behaves" are Fire and Iron, Sarah, and Career Advice.
But she's also got a strong send of humor and a lot of her covers are meant to "take the piss." Sometimes it's joke that's only funny to her. Career advice is a direct attack on Australian Idol. Her operatic take on Slim Shady is probably not for you. it might be worth it to see Kier abuse the hell out his guitar.
