I admit it, back in the days, when Luke started on CZcams, I was kind of a hater. Not that I left comments on his videos or disliked them or anything, just that I thought he was overrated. But man did he prove me wrong over the years... Great job Luke, you are now way better than I could ever dream of becoming. You put in the hard work and it shows. Count me as a fan!
I was in the same boat dude. Hated the vids were it was all just stick tricks. But this track is badass.
I think the biggest thing was because most of the people we heard talking about him WEREN'T drummers. Without any regard to skill level I believe the same can be said of COOP3RDRUMM3R. Whether or not he's the greatest drummer of our generation, people flock to him because he charismatic, flashy and is just a genuinely nice guy. I always kind of thought Luke was overrated because of the way he was talked about and all he seemed to do was drum covers without ever really taking the time to give him credit for his skills, even back then. In Casey's case (See what I did there) I believe a lot of it to have been because of "Disproportionate Fame", that the level of fame he had accrued wasn't equivalent to the amount of skill that he possessed at that time. Feeling as though he didn't deserve it and that there were more deserving people out there a lot of us black balled him and ignored anything that had to do with him, even to go so far as to use him as an insult to another drummers ability. In my opinion and in all honesty, Casey has earned what he's got. He's put in the time, the dedication, he knows how to market himself easily being the biggest drum channel on CZcams (Or at least in ) and his skills have gotten A LOT better. And after all of the stuff that has gone on the first thing he does is turn around and give back to the community by building a studio. Secretly I think we were all just a tad bit jealous, mostly because we thought we were better than him. Better drummers? Maybe. Better People? Not so much. I know the original comment was solely about Luke but they've both come a long way since starting out on CZcams all those years ago.
Same here. I was a hater, now I'm a fan. His talent speaks for itself.
Same here lol
I thought he was a beast
That stack and that room sound great.
Josh Steffen all beautiful 😄 big fan btw
Josh Steffen
Hey Josh cool seeing you comment on lukes vid!
Josh Steffen IKR!!!
Josh Steffen agree!!!
I was gonna say the same thing
When a song requires running shoes to play
2 different shoes
😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Running shoe
Or you'll run out of your shoes lmao
I am a jazz lover, but I definitely appreciate drummers on the "other side". You guys are playing great concepts that u just don't see many in jazz playing, and I think the rock drummers are largely underrated and deserve more recognition.
You re right
Check Virgil Donati...
@@chegevara8896 chack check chack check, palak lo check.
@@yokisullivan8647 wtf?
Check out Mario Duplantier
WOOOAAHH!!! Fantastic!
This is absolute madness. I hope you never stop working with jason. You guys are dynamic duo
I quit drums long ago, in my late teens, long before the internet, long before youtube, ...
The drummers I knew were people like D. Weckl from fusion, Lombardo and Bostaph from thrash metal, Portnoy from progressive...decades have passed and ,as I completely lost interest in music, I did not follow the drum scene.
Now, I start playing again in my late 30's...
I come to youtube to search for new blood in drumming
And then I see this...It is like I woke up in another era....
Intellectual NinjaMonkey welcome, my friend
@John Frum , indeed and it is good that we recognize it. There still are a lot of people of our age that insist that their favorite drummers back in the day were better. They were not.
I am also into martial arts and the same phenomenon is observed there. There are people who insist that the wise, deadly masters of old would kill those contemporary ufc fighters who train in state of the art facilities, with 2-3 different coaches for every fighting style, scientific nutrition and strength conditioning.
Old school fanatics cannot accept the fact that just like every human endeavor, music and musicians (or sports) advance leap and bounds because of the spread of information these days. Nostalgia is one thing, honest evaluation is another.
Those kids today are amazing and it is great that we can still be surprised by something revolutionary in music.
What these guys do..... it is unreal. I grew up in the Blink-182 era and thought Travis had some skill for what I listened to. What is happening now in today's music is insane. I cannot play any instruments but I love to watch the talent and see the complexity.
40 year old Dad checking in.
Sick Roland Kit, been on drums since 12, marching band( quads), Punk bands, I love nice acoustic drums with many cymbals. Electric has saved me though. When you guys become bosses in your 40's , drums are the sanctuary!!
Watch David Diepold if you want also a new era ! ^^
You sir are an animal. Hands down one of the best drummers on the planet now
Holy shit, just watching this is exhausting. Absolutely amazing!
Dizzi h
Ikr
Dizzi Agreed!!!
1:17 the sound of that snare o.o
Jose Manuel Chapa Villegas lol true
holy fuck. how many hit is that
R Dany he does a double then buzzes 2 more (so 4)
??? just diddles and accents.
It’s like Jason Richardson’s equivalent on drums
Andrew Lewis yeah, that’s why they fit together so well
Really appreciating this not overly-produced drum sound. Can hear the dynamics and different weight behind each hit.
Inhuman. It's actually insane how good Luke is. Goes to show how much practice and dedication he puts into his craft. Really inspiring.
Mr. Holland has come a very long way, I'm excited for his future endeavors he is incredible at what he does, very precise
I really appreciate that your djent/Metal Playthrus are filmed in one shot... such madness you can’t even blink or you’ll miss something. 🤟🙌
I paused the video so he can rest for a while.
man, good on you. this guys had to play this 1.4 million times now.
it's a recorded video so it doesn't stop for him

The acoustic feel is stunning!
By the time Luke reaches the age of any of the current legends in drumming, he will be levitating and moving the sticks with his mind.
I swear this duo is the best music I have ever heard, please don’t ever stop. More duo, more
Luke, you deserve the best man. I still can't fathom how Tf your channel hasn't shattered a million bruh. Truly the best drummer on the Internet
Adidas sneakers' warranty voided in 4 minutes and 15 seconds...
@Adam Smith I always knew we would work together
Someone knows what is an exact model of these sneakers?

That’s great 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
I love the sound of the snare dude thats exactly what I've been looking for in a drum set
No way...… Amazing.... Look forward to more stuff with both of you!!!!!
This is outstanding Luke. No wonder you smiled at the end. That is one hell of an achievement.
I can only play 1:41
Ibnu Raja HAHAHA
Same lol
Idk if I could, it is really hard...
😂😂
Lol
Omg the stars have aligned
Graham McKinnon there's more than 1 sky?
Ryan Scott sure why not lol
Luke I listen to you almost everyday for 4 years. Longtime Chris Adler fan. I love log but I found myself in a loop with my music tastes so thanks for giving me an insight into your waking dream. Stay fly Bromigo, I am.
Always love Luke's playing! That DW kit is sooo gorgeous too.
Awesome...
Yes! I'll do a drum cover. Estimated time of release 2025.
i suppose mine will be at 2118, ab that
Анечка Казанович 😂
😂😂
I'll be waiting..
Yeah same here!
Luke's just amazing and he's helping underground music get some solid recognition with his discipline and talent. Can't wait for this dude to actually start going to the studio to join his "band"s practice. Then he'll write some unforgettable music, which we'll listen to for decades.
From one drummer to another, this is fantastic. Well done Luke!
Don’t know how anyone can watch this and still say Matt McGuire is better. Don’t get me wrong. Matt is dope, but Luke is transcending into another dimension.
Jacob Burnett Matt McGuire is an amazing player but I think he appeals to a wider audience because he’s very flashy. Lots of camera edits and shaky cam. This song is a single uncut take. It’s awesome.
THIS ^^^^^ Matt is super good, but the camera flashyness appeals to non drummers more I think.
I agree
They Both are awesome drummers, same with Casey Cooper, Cobus
Barcel Casey Cooper? Nah
Im obsessed with this song 🖤🖤🖤
Kelly Kelly I love their collab :)
Kelly Kelly he's my cousin
What a marvel he is. I mean, genuinely completely mastered his craft- insane!
First time watching one of your vids in a while. Glad to hear your kit doesn’t sound over produced and plastic anymore. That DW is too beautiful!
Hands down the most beautiful kit ever made.
andrew mullins think you mean hos down 😉
Luke is the tosin abasi of drums.
Awesome playthrough!
always a joy.
your broad range of influence is a welcome change of pace.
I've now watched this about ten times, still amazed. just.. wow.
I have tendinitis in my eyes after watching this
😂😂
Not sure why I subscribe, this makes me feel like a toddler at drumming.
Pappa Beats i ask myself the same thing everytime
I haven't been playing on drums a long time. For that time I unsubscribed from many drummer channels, because it was not interesting for me anymore. But this guy will be in my list and my heart forever .
Such a pleasure to watch you drumming and I enjoyed the guitar work!!
So clean in moving between time signatures, doubles, triples and whatever the hell happened at 2:46...😳. Just so good. Damn.
It‘s almost entirely 4/4. You‘re talking about different subdivisions! 2:46 is sixteenth note triplets at 173bpm. Crazy stuff
This is a whole other level of human skill...damn
With everything going on I found myself just admiring his left foot with the hi hat and kick at the same time then that little heel flair to start the breakdown. Bad ass.
I can’t stop watching this! 🤘🏻
So sick Luke. Keep kicking ass brotha.
Very nice Luke!! Congrats. Sharing.............
Next level.
This is what I call the proper use of drum kit. Luke, you're the best!
Every time I watch this is just KEEPS GETTING BETTER
Você é um absurdo, toca demais! 🇧🇷
Do you guys see what he does with his left foot at 1:33
Lol I have no words, impressive doesn't do it justice.
I got the chance to talk to Luke about it and he said he learned the technique from Matt Garstka’s Ka$cade
I was just talking about that how he is both splashing his hats and playing double kick that’s mega skill
Ya he play drummy sound good
@@kylechan3264 when did you get to talk to him?
Dude, you are a beast, seriously.
One of the most great drummers!
Luke doing OG Loko was amazing and ten years later blows my mind. Dude, save some metal for the rest of us!
What the fuck...I've listened to this song so many time and I still find something I missed drum wise. Thanks for uploading this insane playthrough!
Have watched this so many times. I honestly think you and Jason Richardson have outdone yourselves with this composition and tech. The parts that both of you have written are so intricate yet refreshing. All those years of doing drum covers of all different styles and genre, despite some lashback, trying things out of your comfort zone, and continuing to push yourself over and over again really show in this one. I don't think this is something that just any drummer can play, let alone compose. And sharing your journey over all this time is such an inspiration. Kudos.
Only qualm, the song's not eight minutes long :'( Guess you get twice the views, though
No words im awed
Luke is a gifted drummer been watching him since he was a kid and he's only gotten better I enjoy all these videos awesome double bass his fills are amazing
Fully sick.
1:07 that left foot man. i know it might be simple but it's one of the first times i've seen shit like that and it took me by suprise goddammit luke you talented bastard
Absolutely unreal. Luke you’re a freaking legend
These meinl cymbals sound so damn crispy and nice in this mix. Sick ass playthrough. Luke continues to evolve
The whole video is amazing but the dual pedal with the hi-hat pedal at 1:07 and 1:33 is just UNBELIEVABLE.(o vídeo inteiro é incrível mas o pedal duplo com o pedal do chimbal é SIMPLISMENTE INACREDITÁVEL)
this is your new best video!
One of the best drum covers I have seen in my entire life !
Its not a cover... its a play through of his own song with Jason Richardson...
Quality of cover or song aside, the audio quality is amazing... Sounds so lovely. Shoutouts to whoever recorded this particular cover
Man 0:57 - 1:42 get me every time I absolutely love both the guitar work and drums holy shit.
George Harvey agreed with you bruh.
Ahhhh, using the bridge technique!!!
What the hell is that of Bridge technique? :(
Daniel Reyna If you're asking what the bridge technique is, Luke splits his foot down the middle of his hi hat and left kick pedal, so he gets the hit of the left pedal, while at the same time, getting the open/close sound of the hats
so this normal thing has a name?!
Munchell360 he got that from the guy from animals as leaders
Matthew Johnson Yup!
The intricacies in this are next level
Beautiful kit!
Perfect drum technique doesn’t exi-
I think if there was ever a "textbook" drummer then Luke Holland is certainly it, everything he does he's learned through hard work, dedication and repitition and it shows, Many Drummers while great have bad habits, but you try to look for those in Luke and I'm honestly lost..
A beast of a playthrough. Each and every beat of the song shows the internal process of hard work to the power of infinity! Sending love from India.
Absolutely phenomenal!!
You are simply amazing
well that was ego shattering XD
Not sure exactly what was going on at the end there but I likey
Tightest/Creative drummer out there... with Richardson.. Amazing...
Luke, you are becoming my favorite drummer... your precision and applied rudiments are perfect. You are becoming one of the best in the planet. Saludos desde México!
Is this what Born Of Osiris would've sounded like if Jason never left?
ostentatiousostrich Exactly
ostentatiousostrich: *makes a new band called "Osiris of Born"*
If Born of Osiris got Luke as their drummer, probably. Cameron Losch has a completely different style and writes different parts. He also isn't near as technically proficient as Luke is.
Cameron is very good though.
Virtuosic Media You have no idea what you’re talking about and have never played any of BoO tracks on drums. Cameron has complete control on his footwork and his French grip has him effortlessly playing the fast tech parts, and is incredibly clean live. He’s able to play in any of these tech bands floating around right now, yes even Oceans Ate Alaska.
I watch this video everyday
This ia so good! I wish I could play like this, great job Luke...
I hope to someday become half the vocalist this legend is at drumming. Consistently blown away by his immense talent and dedication to his craft.
Video begins to load.
**Presses like*
That was a double-bass wet dream.
In Loop! Amazing! ❤️
Fantastic !
Is it even possible to ascend to a higher level than this? My fucking god
Nils Dominator Fjällström. Alex Rudinger. George Kolias. But this guy is great to. Just not my type of music.
3:15-3:19😲😲
Lovely stuff, very relaxing...
I love your playing man! Keep it up! I know you will.
3:26 Lucky a minor mistake reminds me he still has humanity in him.
Still is seems like a flam somehow. Really hard to notice, well spotted.
well whatever the error is, it’s so minuscule that i personally don’t even notice it. everything in this entire section sounds flawless to me.
Off topic but what’s the name of those adidas?
Garrett S Adidas Iniki, now also known as the adidas i-5923
i love internet
anyone here know the shirt brand?
I've been watching this about once a week lately. So good.
I love this!
Uuh speed killer..
guess if he ever gets bored of drumming he could kick box. kick someones face at like 200bpm xD
PERFECTION. LOVE IT!
