When Red Army had stormed Berlin and was destroying all that moved with its Artillery Fire and Katiusha Salvos , killing tens of thousands German civilians in the process --were there people like you today , telling them : "stop , you killing German children " ?? or every body were just pushing them on - finish the Bastard State ? Interesting how he talks about the “sacrifices that have to be made” in terms of civilian casualties and yet in the same breath lambasts the people of the west for being unacclimated to war. This man has never seen the horror of war and neither have any of his loved ones or family members safe at home in the west. I wonder how many families cowering for fear in a bomb shelter think that their sacrifice is necessary to settle a debate.

    • @gadaboutunited
      @gadaboutunited Před 5 dny +14

      You're backing his point that the West is unacclimated to war, because his, yours and apart from the Ukraine, all the families in the West are not experiencing war.
      The fact that Israeli families in shelters who were slaughtered did experience this, and likewise before that families in Israel have been cowering in shelters for about 15 years from rocket attacks, especially in the very border villages and towns that were overrun, I would think that they understand that the sacrifice needs to be made. Further, since the rocket attacks from Hamas have been reduced to 1% of what they were 6 months ago, the sacrifice is the IDF's now.
      As for the Gazans, they voted Hamas in, who's intentions were clear from 1988 that this was an objective. Additionally, they allowed their kids to be indoctrinated and join Hamas - Hamas are Gazans, they are not mercenaries from the outside, they are Palestinians - and finally 1,000s of Gazan CIVLLIANS crossed the border into Israel as auxiliaries, with a promise of a bounty of $10,000 + an apartment for every hostage they brought back, as well as a free hand to murder, rape and especially loot. That's why Hamas can't account for all the ones who are missing that Israel claims it has, because it's operatives didn't capture a good proportion of them. Further, the vast majority of the Gazan population celebrated the attacks, Hamas have never been more popular in the West Bank, and whilst this last point is no way a valid justification of civilians bearing the brunt, it demonstrates a complicity of the populous.

    Another element to this dilemma, is thequestion, did Israel attempt other methods to bring an end to this 75 year conflict? If they had only chosen to bomb, then sure I can see Joe's point. But we have witnessed Israel agreeing to a two-state solution in1948, followed by an attempt by five Arab armies to actually commit genocide. In 1967, Israel defeated the Arabs in six days and immediately offered the Arab world the territories in exchange for peace, and the Arab League said "NO". The Oslo Agreements brought great hope in 1993 but that led to a campaign of bus bombings by the PLO. In the year 2000 Ehud Barak and Yasser Arafat met with Bill Clinton at Camp David, they had an agreement, which Arafat pulled out of at the last moment. The next day the Second intifada began. Since then there has been the Wye Agreement and other agreements that have separated the territories into entities, A, B and C. In A and B the Palestinians vote in elections to the Palestinian Authority currently led by Abbas and police themselves, as well as Gaza, which became "un-occupied" in 2006. This led to rocket attacks from Gaza, which brings about Israeli retaliation.
    Israel has tried every option to make peace, and all have been turned down. I wish Joe Rogan would read some history of the region. The attempts to make peace, right from the beginning, serve to make the destroy Hamas option a moral imperative. As all Americans right of Stalin would agree it is incumbent on the federal government of any nation to take up arms to protect its people and secure its borders.

      Ah, the good old Western propaganda on the JRE. "Britain had to make a decision to go fight the Nazis"..... he simply "forgot" to mention who actually ENDED the war. THE SOVIETS. To the UK and the US, war means business, and profits, the longer a war lasts, the better for the billionaires running the show. By the way, the only country that is still legally allowed to rally out in public, flying a swastika flag is the United States, everywhere else on the planet, it's illegal. In early 1945, Allied troops entered Germany. By mid-April, the SOVIETS had encircled the German capital of Berlin. On April 30, 1945, Adolf Hitler killed himself. The German armed forces surrendered unconditionally in the west on May 7 and in the east on May 9, 1945, bringing an end to World War II in Europe. You're welcome, Britain.

      First. Israel acted selflessly to live in peace with the Palestinians in Gaza. It was more than a decade ago when Israel itself ordered Israeli citizens who had lived there for decades to literally leave their homes. The first thing the Palestinians did in return was to elect a government that enshrined the goal of destroying Israel in the constitution. The elected government followed through with its promise. Since its founding, thousands of rockets have flown into Israeli settlement areas. Dozens of civilians died in terrorist attacks. Millions of aid funds - intended for civilian institutions - were misused to sponsor this terrorism. October 7th was just what Humus had been doing for years.
      Secondly. Israel behaved more humanely in this conflict than any other conceivable party in any imaginable conflict. It allowed Palestinians to work in Israel, receive medical care or even migrate to Israel. During war, they warn civilians where their military is operating. They admit collateral damage and apologize for it.
      The situation is clear. In no other conflict the responsibility for the suffering has been so one sided and clear - in no other conflict have the perpetrators been held accountable so weakly. People with voice and power who claim to reject war and the nature of war have a duty to unequivocally name the culprit of this war and do everything in their power to eliminate them. Everything else is responsibility for the resulting suffering and is as history has proved continuing this madness.

    I think the most important questions in any discussion like this are: 'what do we want to happen next', 'what can realistically happen next', and 'how will the consequences echo into the future'? Focussing on moral responsibility will get us no-where, because both sides will continue to scream at each other passionately, claiming that they are the ones who have been the most violated, until the end of time. The is no 'solution', there can only be mitigation. We must ask what truly realistic and viable actions will save the most lives, and prevent the most suffering, projecting into the future for decades to come? People for sure even have differing views about the best answer to that question... but, at least I feel that it is a better and more useful question to ask than, 'who is most morally justified'.

      Jewish people are INDIGENOUS to the LAND OF ISRAEL according to *ALL* archeological, anthropological, genetic, biological, & verbal evidence. Even during the Diaspora, there has *always* remained a steady Jewish presence in that land...Palestine isnt even an Arabic word, it was renamed Judea-Palestina by the ROMANS when they conquered the area, & since then there has *never been* an independent country named Palestine ever (the Arabic language doesn't even have the letter P). Just bec European Jews have adapted European looks (biological adaptation 101 btw) bec they migrated there centuries ago after being expelled by the Romans etc, that doesn't negate anything. Besides, what about all the ethnic Sefardi Jews that arent European?! You know the ~850k that were ethnically cleansed from Arab countries? Ahhhh so conveniently forgotten about eh? 🤨🤨...so why should Jewish people be "given" a Homeland anywhere but where they've already been residing for thousands of years?

On 29 November 1947 the UN General Assembly voted on the partition plan, ADAOPTED BY 33 VOTES TO 13 with 10 abstentions. The Jewish side accepted the UN plan for the establishment of two states. Regardless of what you choose to call the land, the conflicts, which continue to this day and have only become bloodier over time, began after Western nations chose to declare the state of Israel on that land and displace the indigenous people with Europeans. Even Palestinian Jews in the Westbank are not treated the same as Israeli Jews. You don’t have to agree with me, but at some point we all have to acknowledge the truth. I don’t believe in the slaughter of any people, regardless of what they believe or where they come from. God gave us life and placed us here on Earth to live in peace.
