My fellow Hawks fan, Sleep well. Dejounte Murray never really fitted in beside Trae Young. With this trade we make it known we are committing to Trae and Trae only. No longer will we have to rely on the iso-ball "My turn, your turn" style of play which defined Trae & Dejounte's time in the A.
Risacher's potential will also be maximized with this trade, as Trae Young will require more attention, And his playmaking will give Zaccharie more opportunities.

I don’t think the casual fan realizes this trade benefits the hawks. Dejounte is not the defender he used to be, now the hawks are finally putting length and defense around Trae.
He’s still a great defender he just played for an unserious organization with one of the least fun basketball players in my recent memory
I think if DJM is comfortable with being the third option, his focus will come back on defense and be the defender he once was. But this is a huge what if

It’s dejaunte, herb, bi, z, and insert center for starters. Cj’s gotta go for a center, leaves you great bench depth, defense, shooting
Die hard Pels fan here, i love this trade but it scares me. I feel like they will fuck up somewhere this offseason, already i don't like that CJ isn't getting moved, his shooting is def needed but he just doesn't fit. Dejounte + Herb backcourt would feed families, i think it would actually work extremely well since Herb isn't a ball handler, therefore Dejounte can excel with always having the ball. Secondly, i don't care if BI gets traded, it's Trey's time to shine, but, i fear that they are going to make a foolish trade for BI. I'd only accept Jarrett Allen or in a perfect world Myles Turner for him, matter of fact i would throw 5 first round picks and BI for Turner i am not even kidding, he is the best Center in the league to pair up with Zion. They started well I just hope they don't fuck up.

Pels still lack consistent 3 pt shooting and a proven rim protector, which were their 2nd and 3rd biggest needs.
Also, I’m a Duke fan, but even I gotta admit that Ingram and Zion just don’t mesh for whatever reason. Keep Z, and get yourself a Star or some serious draft equity for Ingram.

I don't think that having leverage is important, just because people know the hawks dont want both guards doesnt change the fact that objectively the value sent out was far higher than the value received. The hawks were absolutely fleeced. Two rotation pieces and two kinda bad first round picks for a starting quality PG, getting sent to a team that desperately wanted a younger starting quality PG.
Great trade for them, dejounte was super good for the spurs and the fit with trae was awkward so him being the primary ball handler again is gonna be great also pels needed a real point guard because brandon ingram led them in assists per game

I think they run Murray, Mccollum, Herb, BI, Zion. OR you could run Murray, Mccollum, BI, Murphy, Zion with a possibility to go full defensive with Herb instead of Mccollum. Ur gonna be asking Zion to do more on ball as Point Zion, as well as get better at defensive positioning to offset his height, but they can do it I think.

For the most part I see people screaming that the Hawks got fleeced and they should have asked for Ingram as well, but I don't know why people are so confused as to the terms of the deal. First off, look at the Hawks' current roster; 3 guys on the wing that are all young and developing who fit Trae's game. Meanwhile you consider what the Hawks tried to do with DJ, and it makes no sense to get a point forward that's just as Ball dominant. Then you see they get 2 great value trade assets in the first round of 2 extremely sought after draft classes and a defensively strong Guard that they needed in the back court and I don't see how this is necessarily a fleece. An understandable trade scenario for both teams. Besides, the most important factor that none of y'all are looking at, Ingram's on the last year of his deal. The whole reason the Pels are looking to trade him is because they can't pay him his wanted price once his contract is done, and weird fact neither can the Hawks. So you all are asking for Ingram while not accounting that he'd be a one year rental that they can't even afford to keep.
