Wow now imagine Procreate implementing a bone rigging system with inverse kinematics based on that layers approach !
Now that would be awesome like anime studios
Yes. For now this is a cool workaround hack. Cool trick to show your other fellow creative friends. But I feel like in the long run, this will be incredibly inefficient to maintain.
Procreate needs a proper bone structure rigging system
The tech and ingredients are already there (the anchor points is basically bone pivots) they just need a proper UI for it
@@mancerrsshopefully in a future update
I didn’t even believe they would make an animation all. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a proper bone system like MOHO and Cartoon Animator 5.
@@TheLuconic I agree
OMG! What a time to be alive! Thank you for showcasing Procreate Dreams features! I feel I will be taking the day off on its release date, just to spend all day and night learning its features and creating stories! I never thought we’d reach point in technology where animation becomes THAT easy to learn, to make and to be accessible!
For real!!! Im so excited!!!! I've been counting down since it's reveal!!!!
@@PineappleSoysauceSame! My dad is gonna get it for me, I’m determined to learn animation more
@@quit3118youre gonna be famous one day! We all believe in you ❤
Did you ever take that day off when Dreams was released? Hope you had fun learning and exploring the app!
@@Majotsukaiwhy you asking that question bro
As someone that’s always been overwhelmed by trying to do flip book animation, I’m so excited to try this out
A real rigging system, puppet Warp, particle systems, a 3D Space Like in Mental Canvas would be cool for Future Versions.
I second this. Procreate can already work in a 3d space as well
Amen!
Yea, wake me up when it happens. Procreate all by itself is in dire need for updates, some very obvious, and we still haven’t seen it.
:o 3d would be a total game changer
I'm old school. I was trained on a traditional animation table, so I'll be animating in _flipbook_ mode more than anything. But I can envision a lot on non-character focused uses for a rigging system like this. Like steampunk, for instance. Think of how easy this could make animating (already fully rendered) cylinders and pistons.
while the whole character rigging is amazing and everything. YOU CAN'T JUST IGNORE THE FACT WE CAN TAKE A DRAWING OUT OF THE CANVAS AND IT DOESN'T DELETE. I mean this changes so much for animators and artists in general.
toonsquid does that too
Agreed, I’ve been stuck with flipaclip 😭
@@nikkim7038yeah
i wished procreate also didnt destroy drawings when out...
I hope they add a thing where you can see your full history of colors so you don’t lose colors you’ve used and need it again
Amazing!
Thank you so much for being the ONLY person on CZcams who is posting videos on Dreams. Appreciate it.
Did you make the Intro of the video (first 1 second) animate using Procreate Dreams?
Wow this app can really do everything! I'm excited for a boom of new animators to rise from this apps release.
As someone who is currently rigging on ipad
with Callipeg, I'M SO EXCITED for this!!! ❤❤❤
It’s so cool you made a video about rigging in Dreams😍. No one else is doing it (at least I can’t seem to find one). Right on time for my school projects. I want more of these about character design and rigging.
I’ve literally been wondering if this was possible… thank you for showing this and the ability to move anchor points!!!
Woah! This just keeps surprising me! Does Procreate Dreams come with a camera tool? So far it feels like After Effects but 2D animation-centered. I hope Camera Parallax is added in future updates
aaah, i‘m SO looking forward for dreams 🤩 thanks for showcasing 🔥
Thank you so much for this tutorial! ❤
I can't wait for this to come out
someone said what a time to be alive and I can't agree more. What a great and awesome tool! I'm so excited to begin learning and practicing animation. The UI is so innovative and takes advantage of pen to select. I couldn't figure out how to select or group until this vid... Thank you! WOWW PROCREATE DREAMS
I CANT WAIT IM GETTING IT THE DAY IT COMES OUT
Thorgeir, it's good to see you and happy to hear from the email you and yours are safe. As for this software, Just Wow!
It’s like making a puppet and programming its movement!
SO VERY USEFUL! Thank you!
I am so excited for trying this.
cant wait to play with this app
Thank you! Other people are just losing views by not actually showing how this app works
Exactly
Thank you for such a nice tutorial. It was great! As a new to everything animation and Procreate Dreams, I hope you’ll be making more wonder videos like this.❤
Thanks to YOU I was able to do an animation w/ simple “bone structure” and grouping!!!
Wow. I’m getting more excited about this app
Thank you for doing videos for procreate dreams :)
This was very useful. thx.
Alright, I’m officially bought
Very well explained, thanks! Making it a lot less intimidating for me.
Very helpful, thanks!
I KNEW IT. the Fairy animation is just a 1 bone rigging. so make sense making body in parts and " Select All" you move them all in 1 unit. and just pick 1 body part to edit . Brilliant of me.
So many people were asking about this!!!
the logic is pretty cool but the only problem might be the lack of anchor point in a more complex character 🤔
Thank you for this video!!! 😊😊😊😊
Thank you very much for this video
omg thank you
Thank you
Great video!
This is very cool thanks for the easy to follow video :)
Awesome!
I wish I would have known this when I tried my first animation. glad I know it now.
Only one week left
probably a pipedream but I'm hoping to see if there's an export format that is compatible with bringing in the rigged up character and its animations to other rigging programs like spriter or spine2d (or at least set up in a way that someone can create a conversion tool from the export file) as they are integrated into a variety of game engines and it would be neat to incorporate this into a gamedev workflow.
Wouldnt be suprised in the next decade they have a 3d app callled Procreate Life LOL where you can animate and rig in 3d !!!
This is so cool
I need this app asap to step up my animation game and learn and improve damn
This is very impressive
Amazing tuto.. 😮
Very beautiful 😍👏
Do you know if I would be blessed to export a sprite sheet of any animation?
Do you know if you can use mirrorless/dslr live view mode for stop motion?
Whats the difference between the personal and commercial licenses? This is in reference to your brushes.
I can’t figure out how to rotate a tail on a giraffe I drew. It only moves around even when I move the anchor
I think procreate dreams doesn't have more things than other animation apps. Just their ads make this app awesome.
In theory, you should be able to make moving/shifting paintings with the rigging system.
Woah
What I want the most in this app would be warp reformers, like live2D cubism’s
How can I get access to the beta, I have preordered dreams already, or is this a CZcamsr only thing
Can you put a which on like mouths or eye layers?
How can I animate 2 separate objects that are moving at different speeds, at the same time?
Do onion skins work when rigging a character this way?
Can you do a sample lip sync using Procreate Dreams? Thanks
Thanks!. I’ll need to write story, work out the flow just liKe a comics or script, but include choreography
Thank you so much 🙏 I really appreciate it! Sounds like a challenging project! I would love to hear more about it. Feel free to share your journey with us on the Discord server - discord.gg/8DbqQ9Qxwd
Great to see your preview demo of Dreams.
Since you are demonstrating a beta version, can you let me know if there is an option to store and bring in assets from an SSD drive.
Lumafusion lets me keep all of my assets as well as my projects entirely on an external SSD drive. My SSD is plugged into the iPad’s usb port. This is great because I have limited storage on my iPad.
So will Dreams let me do that. It’s fine I can store Dreams on iCloud -but I really need a real-time ssd option and I hope dreams launches with that feature.
Since you have a beta in front of you, can you give me an answer?
Thanks!
On the released version, Procreate Dreams lets me import videos and other media from the files dialog. So, I believe that includes external SSDs. But I don’t know if they are linked from there or copied. I would guess linked, because Procreate Dreams is all about non-destructive editing.
Also, no idea what happens when an SSD is unplugged. Is there a procedure to relink the media? I have no experience with this, so far.
Does moving copied elements retain their visual quality? That's my biggest gripe with Procreate. If you copy and move something several times it gets blurry and loses its crispness.
Yeah, let’s get a bone system in there so we can do IK rigs and tweens! Killer app.
Can you do a video when we want to do line art over the sketch in procreate dreams
how do you make the opacity of the onion skin not coloured and not a solid colour and instead make it transparent. Also how do you duplicate frames? I have lots of questions, when this releases Im going to need a lot of tutorials on how to use it lol.
Not colored onion skins: no idea. Maybe not possible.
Transparent onion skins: there is a slider in the onion skin dialog for transparency.
Duplicate frames in the flipbook: touch and hold the center frame in the flipbook to get an edit menu, which includes “duplicate”.
Can you actually assign bones and weights like in Spine 2D? If not, it’s not a game changer for me. Just an after effects add-on
The keyframe management is a bit bit messy and the fact we have no selection tool it makes the animation process difficult . I’ve been using it for 3 days and I’m struggling with the ergonomics of the app, I’m frustrated about the lack of support of the double tap on the stylus and Magic Keyboard shortcuts , it’s fun but meh … it’s a lot of energy to spend to control what you draw . I hope it will get better soon .
Rats my group tool will not work, it did and I know how to use it but now it does not function, group icon lits red but when i draw across a number frames no line. Great tutorial though
YYYOOOOO
Wow !!! Just wow !!! One question . I’m going to buy a second hand iPad for that … I found 500€ one iPad Pro 11 2021 128gb . It is worth ? Will work ?
whoaaa that is pretty insane!, can we import psd file to procreate dreams ?
Their Handbook online help, doesn’t show import of any PSD into Procreate Dreams. Good news is back in Procreate, File types import includes PSD and PDF, but export/ share only PDF.
I can’t recall from last time I used it, if Procreate import places the PSD and PDF layers into separate layers. Probably depends on the imported files not being flattened (layers not merged?).
Maybe ask on their website if you don’t see export and import explanation in app or Handbook.
File Types to import and those to export.
Time to experiment with a file you don’t care about.
In Procreate:
- import PSD or PDF into Procreate.
- if layers come in to separate Procreate layers, good.
- choose to turn on Animation Assist then export whichever video format you can import into Procreate Dreams?
- or alternately export to a file that Procreate Dreams supports?
I do see in Procreate under the wrench, ACTIONS for SHARE as movie formats.
I thought it’s including rigs as in live 2D 😢
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I know it’s a big step forward, but I’d rather have IK bones. Even then, the setup for those can suck just as much as frame by frames.
Really. They doing this? I am going crazy
Show more…please?
if they will add bone tool just like animate and after effect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its great for frame by frame, but for rigging it is hardly going to compete with the likes of ToonBoom Harmony or Moho
I want the app, but I’m kinda worried that it is too overwhelming 🤔
It's honestly seems like one of the more streamlined animation programs. If you start by learning one thing first, like how frame by frame works, and once you got that down, try something like rigging you'll be fine
I m pretty sure many animators will give a tutorial on how to used procreate dream, I am curious if the coloring process is a lot easier like toon boom where can color all layers instead of doing it manually.
@@nikkichhun that’s be awesome, I hope dreams takes a lot of influence from toon boom honestly
@@christianr.5868 right! And even if it doesn’t, I m sure they might update it in the future since they get multiple feedback on how the app is doing and might need improvements
You cut the video so much that it looks like you have lag
0:07 they forced you to say it is a game changer, right? you even had to read it 🤣
Not true. Procreate did not ask me to say anything. But I did read the intro from a script that I wrote though. I guess I gotta get better at reading and writing scripts 😄
First to view this!
well, is nice to know there's a workaround for it, but this is no way a riggering process. Riggering it the process on which you basically create the "bones" of the charatcter, and the whole idea, as you said, is that they are all interconnected and can react properly by the change of their neighboring bones. What you did here is just separate everything in layers so you could modify each one more easily, however, by moving the torso in an angle it doesn't automatically move the head along with it, ergo, THIS IS NOT a rigged character.
Kinda sad that Procreate doesn't have a proper riggering system, but i guess is more oriented to a manual 2D approach
Indeed, Procreate responds to feature requests. I know many people are asking for proper bone rigging functionality. Hopefully we'll see that in the future 🙂
How is this a game changer..?
Almost as cool as the thumbnail 😂
The pelvis should be the root, not the head
Too bad, I thought Dreams was more like Blender's Grease Pencil.
You can upvote your ideas and your expectations on their forum…it is never too late to let them know how of a dream it is to have such a feature in dreams.
@@TMC3000 Thanks for the suggestion but implementing the third dimension in Dreams I think means redoing the software from scratch.
@@PencilParasiteI dont know where you got that idea from. Nothing was really there to back that up, but hopefully they make an app that can incorporate a grease pencil like thing with animation. Mental canvas let's you draw In 3d though
@@christianr.5868It was just a wrong idea I got while looking at shorts.
I’m too huped
WHAT
we love procreate glorifying ios like buying an ipad instead of a pc and drawing tabket that can get u everything just for procreate is so nice !!1!1!1
not gonna lie but toonsquid is far better for rigging
Procreate Dream not release,,but can see where this going..Procreate Dream 2 = AI predictive rig movement..
Most misleading thumbnail image ever. 🙄
20 bucks for this app and features like this? I am sorry, but I feel like I am robbing the company behind this apps. Astounding.
HOw exactly is this a game changer? This is convoluted compared to most rigging processes
Yeah I prefer the parenting approach. Toonsquid is better in that department
Hopefully dreams adds bone rigging in the future instead
@@christianr.5868
It's exactly the same thing just based on layers. The "higher" layer group is the parent. At least that's how I understand it - definitely easier to master.
@@christianr.5868 Dont you love how all the people who have gotten early access have no experience with animation ?
