  • Walking around the beautiful city of Caen in Normandy, France. It's located in northwestern France, about 2 hours drive from Paris. Caen is known for historical buildings founded during the reign of William the Conqueror. Among which are Château de Caen (Caen Castle) built in 1060, the Abbey of Sainte-Trinité and Abbey of Sainte-Trinité, where King William was buried. Most part of the city were destroyed during the Battle of Normandy in 1944.

My Dad, who landed on 'Gold Beach' on the 6th. June 1944, eventually advanced through to Caen which had been virtually reduced to rubble. He had to resort to sleeping in a hole in the ground with an old door over the top. Let's not forget the sacrifices the Allies made in liberating France.

What efforts exactly? The French liberated France, 800.000 of them were the ones that libertated eastern France, so stop, y'all (usa) send literally 30k soldiers, while others suffered the loss of millions

    My hometown.
But William William the Conqueror (aka William I aka William the Bastard, aka Guillaume le conquérant) conqueror of England a thousand years ago, is buried in Saint-Etienne (Or at least a part of him is), it's the huge church at the beginning of the video. We also call it l'abbaye aux hommes (men's Abbey).
The Abbey of Sainte-Trinité is usually called l'abbaye aux dames (women's abbey), and it's the queen Mathilde who is buried there. She was his wife and she's known as the maker of the Bayeux Tapestry, but it's probably a made up story.
Btw I got drunk way too many times to count in the first street you can see.
