    all the hate we give to pigeons should be redirected at seagulls. i live in a seaside town and those fuckers act like they escaped from hell and want to make their problems everyone elses.
    it's like bees and wasps. pigeons are the bees, useful, cute, passive. and seagulls are wasps, full of absolute hatred and violence and do basically nothing good for humanity or the environment.

      If you sit near the warf (pier) in San Francisco, there's a fountain where people sit to eat lunch. I've seen seagulls stalk and snatch up pigeons and proceed to eat them violently. Watching tourists freak out when they do this is never not entertaining. For some reason people think seagulls are nice, if not slightly annoying. They are in fact demons with wings :)

    I feel like flying rat is accurate in a sense that both are surprisingly op and were spread by humans. (And now both have been kept as pets.) Also modern evidence implies that the plague is spread by human clothe flea rather than rat flea. This is based on partial the fact it spread more among common folk of the cities than the elite. (“The great plague” episode 3 [2020])

      Pidgeons are probably one of, if not the oldest domesticated birds, so people keeping them isn't exactly 'new'(though ig people would've had them for meat and eggs at first)

    here in the uk, most pidgeons you see in the cities are not well.
    They eat scraps, what they can hoard away from seagulls, like them missing legs, feet, toes, their toes curled into fists, etc - i see so many which look literally diseased as well like its unreal.

    Makes me even happier about saving the pigeon that flew into a closed window on our house, i put it into a box with some soft paper towels a bowl of water and some bird food so it could recover withut being attacked by local cats, the next day i opened the box and it came out. I often see the same pigeon coming back to visit when i go into the garden.

    I adore birds, especially pigeons. They are so smart and such social creatures, not to mention they are so adorably round. I love them almost as much as crows, but there are no crows where I live. I fed and played with the pigeons and doves at my school so much that I could feed them from my hand, I got the nickname Mama Pigeon.

    the way they usually lose them is getting them tangled up in human hair which keeps tightening and restricting bloodflow until the limb dies and falls off

    can attest about the catfish. the biodiversity of the river po(the greatest river in italy) took a major hit since some idiots released enormous catfishes as a joke(for reference, we call them "torpedo fish"). some sections of the river are so devoid of worthy food that this fish resorted to hunting pigeons in shallow waters

    The only pigeon I don't like is the rockdove. There was a flock that gathered around I used to take and they often bullied each other, other birds, and would get into your space if they wanted something. You would be able to see the biggest bully by looking for the one fat one because the others were skinny or injured and it would run at any that were too close to something it wanted. I'm sure it had to do with that particular group, but I didn't enjoy seeing the other birds with only one leg.

    I actually really liked the "The Murmuring" episode from the Del Toro series. It just had a certain vibe to it that was really nicely done. Some episodes didn't really hit the spot, though. Especially that drug party one, I think it was episode 7.
    The most disappointing one was Dreams in the Witch House (as a Lovecraft fan), especially since there is a pretty good 2005 adaption from Masters of Horror.

    Feed them something better than bread though, please! Occasionally that would be fine, but they're not supposed to eat it and they generally get so much of it from people that it messes them up. Birds in general (ducks come to mind), not just pigeons. Grains, seeds, nuts, fruit (and for ducks frozen peas too) are better if they need feeding at all. If the birds are supposed to eat mostly insects or meat... then I don't know :D.

    I actually think calling Pigeons "rat with wings" is praise for them;
    just try to remember how op Rats is, even if half of it is based on nothing myth, Rats are quite cool/scary, you just need to understand them and how to behave around them and they won't be that dangerous.
