Trillions of cicadas start to emerge across US, some so loud residents are calling police

Two broods of cicadas are simultaneously emerging this summer in a rare event, with trillions of the bugs coming out of the ground across the southeastern U.S.
Some are so loud, that some residents have called the police.
But, they aren't here to stay long, and they aren't going to eat your plants.
"I often joke, it's kind of the world's darkest Mardi Gras because it's just a bunch of singing and other things and then dying," Extension entomologist Jonathan L. Larson said about the brief time the cicadas spend above ground.

According to biologists, large cicada populations emerge from hibernating in every 13-17 year cycles. And will diminish after mating season.

So, many people complaining about the cicada's noise. Yeah, the same people calling landscapers to mow their useless, toxic herbicide ladden grass, so they can enjoy the sounds of the beautiful and soothing leaf blower/grass mower symphony sounds.
With the economy as it is, grow something you can actually eat, people! Don't be pendejo!
