heys guys what's up , this video is kinda of different vibe Im trying to make some voice over to be more like story telling , its not that much of how the actual I study , I just trying to draw things that im happy with and go with the flow. Sometimes in anatomy it is better to look famous artist that you admire and observe what they doing so that you can apply to your work as well or much better buy there book so you can learn , also there's a lot of anatomy books out there you ,so find what's your favorite and right to your style.

if you're bored by simply copying random anatomy poses, one of the tips my art teacher mentioned once was that he has more fun studying things like anatomy if you draw your OCs in those poses instead of those strangers or faceless 3d models. you can also give the poses details, add some clothes that could fit, make up some story about them or add expressions, additionally practice a little design and storytelling along the way

I've been feeling that way too. It can be so incredibly frustrating when you have been practicing art with much determination for years and you feel like you're still unable to execute the basics and you have no real confidence in your art😢.
However, I will share with you what I have learned recently:
      1) You need to accept that you will never learn all that there is to learn. You will always feel like you're not there yet and apparently, that's normal with artists! Have you ever met an amazing artist and they're like "my work sucks😢 I need to improve 😔"?
This is because art is a career that keeps giving and giving. There is always something to learn! We are never satisfied. Like a neverending waterfall, once you overcome one level you keep wanting to go higher and higher so you always get the feeling like you're a beginner.
The key to overcoming this is to just accept it as a normal feeling and to realize that it's part of the process. It's part of your journey and is actually a good thing because you can use that as a tool to fuel your thirst for knowledge and it can be a great tool to mastery. However, if you allow it to break you, it can make you stop practicing art forever.
      2) Another tip is the biggest thing for me and that is to keep practicing the fundamentals. That was my problem. Through introspection, I saw that I tend to skip over stuff when I get impatient and want to paint right away. Then a painting looks shitty and the self hate about me being a beginner for too long begins 😅
But seasoned artists practice the fundamentals all the time to fine-tune their art.
I've been learning how critical the fundamentals are to one not feeling like a beginner. Even when the fundamentals are fully grasped one needs to keep doing them no matter what. Like an exercise. Become aware of the 7 components of art and practice them like crazy regularly.
      3) Comparison. Nothing makes you feel like a beginner more that matching yourself to those you deem to be better than you. But what I've learned is that a lot of the time few people show their process. You don't see the difficulties they experienced with an art piece, how long it took them to finish it, how frustrated they were while creating or how hard they grind each day to attain a level of mastery.
All we see are the beautiful art pieces they make and we feel bad compared to them and as though we're stuck forever in beginner mode.
I've started using people I consider great as motivation instead of a demotivation.
      4) Become incredibly stubborn. Thissss 👏 You have to have the determination of a hyena when it comes to creating art. Like, no matter how many times your work disappoints and depresses you, push through harder than anything. The more of a beginner you feel like, the harder you practice, the more you create!!
      Like, don't ever give up.
      5) And also, keep track of your work. Our mind loves to play games with us. It will troll you.
There are times when I feel so stuck and get upset but when I look back at stuff I painted or drew ten years ago, I'm like damnnnn. So I advise you keep records of your work and that whenever you doubt yourself, look back. That will definitely quiet your inner critic.
      6) Additionally, remember consistency is the key. I struggled with this.
      7) Oh and most importantly, another thing I learned from a favorite CZcamsr that has stuck with me for years is that we feel frustrated because of the hand-eye disconnect.
When an artist works / learns the trade, they develop their eyes and their drawing hand. We who are frustrated with ourselves for still being beginners despite putting in a lot of years has one major problem: our artist eye is incredibly developed but our hand has not caught up to it. Our eyes surpass our hands.
I got this problem because I'm absolutely obsessed with art. I have spent a long time consuming all forms of art and am a big fan of looking at the work of talented artists. This is why no matter what I draw, it feels off to me because my hands aren't their hands. My eyes will always see the glaring mistakes but my hand struggles to not make those mistakes because I haven't trained it to the level it needs to be.
That artist CZcamsr stated that the way to solve this problem is to make our hands catch up to our eyes.
And what's the only way to do that? Practice! And study!
Also, finding the right way to practicing and studying art is key, otherwise you can waste years doing the wrong practice and keep yourself back.
For years I've tried almost everything under the sun to improve but I've accepted that it's a journey and I'm still learning what works for me. Even if you can't see the improvement it's there.
And I'm doing my best to practice the most important tip: patience. Once you're patient, consistent and follow a solid training plan, you'll be out of that beginner mindset in no time.
Hah 😅 sorry for the long message, it's just that your comment reflected my own struggles and I wanted to share what I have been doing to get past it.
Hopefully all that I've said helps you because as I started to do these things in the past week, I've been seeing improvement in my work and my mindset.

My tip for for filling a sketchbook: Especially if you have multiple unfilled sketchbooks, choose one and tell yourself “this is my trash sketchbook that i will fill with bad sketches, practise, unfinished drawing, etc. Make the purpose of that sketchbook to be bad. Then possibly choose another sketchbook and then that will be your “nice” sketchbook you can use after you finish your first one since in theory you improved by practising in the first one. It’s all about the purpose of the sketchbook:)
Another thing that i like doing is adding sticky notes or cutting out old drawings and putting them in my sketchbook (and leaving the first page for last)
    I hope this helps!

  • @SupiSuki
    @SupiSuki Před měsícem +23

Fun fact: you can learn anatomy in a month, best way to learn anatomy is to separate the parts of the body you have no understanding of like the arms and the hands, and do them individually. I try to stay away from doing the whole body right away because it is way too complex to get accurately almost every time. When your time to study is over, try doing a quick sketch after every study session (full body) and take note of your mistakes and/or inaccuracies in a notebook or notepad or whatever. after mastering the basic components move unto the "detailed" anatomy like bones, organs, muscle etc. make sure to take notes. after all that if you think your ready then try doing light sketches (with no time limit) and see how far you have improved. (note, this is the method I used, it is not guaranteed to work for all of you)

I can’t put into words how much this helped me. I’ve been trying to move over to digital from traditional and it’s almost as if I completely forget everything I know once I pick up my tablet. It’s a whole new medium and I’m getting overwhelmed. I think I just need to start from the beginning again. On paper and then digital. Just start the entire process over again. Kind of felt like I had failed. I was (still am a little) overwhelmed and this helped. It’s nice to know that even artists that I see as hard working, talented professionals still go back and practice the basics.

    • @priscillareadstoyou7072
      @priscillareadstoyou7072 Před rokem +5

Oh my yes.... Going from traditional to digital is a truly eye-opening experience 😩 I remember when I did that a few years ago. No one warned me that I'd totally suck 😅Like the level of difficulty I wasn't expecting 😔 And let me not get started on the hand-eye coordination for pen tablets. When you're a traditional person and you're accustomed to looking at what you're drawing but then all of a sudden you gotta be looking at the screen while your hand is moving on the tablet.... 😬
I've improved a lot since my first digital but I'm still not satisfied especially with anatomy and like you, I've realized that I need to redo the fundamentals. I've been doing that for the past week so far and I've been seeing improvement. I wish you the best of luck too! Go brave and strong 💪

So you pick a session, and draw, few times a week. Its kinda cool, because you dont spend so much time at first. Important: You must not just copy lines, you should firstly see line of action and shapes. You can find videos with basic proportions and shapes of human body, there are many kinds and ways to draw human body from shape.
As I got improved, I started adding more muscles to see, some details, some lines for eyes and nose, hair. It actually looks nice now, and thats how I started to improve.

ive been drawing since i was 7 and now im 14 yrs old, i still feel terrible at drawing. every time i start drawing i already feel like giving up because i feel bad at it. i tend to also lose motivations and just forget drawing. i wanna feel the same joy i felt when i was still new to drawing.. not caring much about it looking bad and genuinely doing it just for fun😅

i really want to get into art!!! especially anatomy… i have so many brilliant movie ideas and i just.. want to out them into creation but i want them to be spiderman into the verse art style… im not sure what that style of art is called but i love it. especially the city kid vibe like its so amazing.. just the dystopian new generation that grew w the internet. i think its so fucking awesome and we can be anything we wanna be so why not be creative and cool as fuck .. nothing is holding us back!!! and i want my art to be reflective of that so.. i love that u said “and remember practice takes key” because for beginners we can get discouraged and such so.. amazing video i love artists 🥺

I am really good at coping what I see when it’s about drawing something, and now I want to make my own art on a digital surface, but here is the catch : I suck a$$ !! Yes, being good to just coping something means that you have no real skill, that’s why I watch this, to start learning. So thank you !

How did you learn the anatomy of a body? Where did you start? What are the methods for learning to draw a body? Will drawing books serve in teaching? What are the books that teach drawing a body?
