Mass Effect 2 - What if you bring alien squadmates to the quarantine zone while recruiting Mordin?

- In order to recruit Mordin Solus, you need to get into the quarantine zone where a plague deadly to anyone but the vorcha and humans runs rampant.
After you get past the turian guard, every squadmate will voice their opinion about entering the plague zone. If any of them might be susceptible to the disease, Paragon Shepard can choose to reassure them they can stay where it's safe while Renegade Shepard will remind them the mission is too important to sit out.
Soon after you enter the plague zone, vulnerable squadmates will start developing a cough and start worrying they caught the disease.
Fortunately, once you finally reach Mordin, he will immediately notice your sick squadmates and administer the cure.

Grunt:I don't get sick
*Gets sick*
Garrus:It is hot in here or is it just…(cough)…oh, that’s not good
That’s because Grunt has an attitude and thinks he’s harder than air… even if that air can kill you! You can see his flaw in Mass Effect 3: Citadel (DLC) during the aftermath of the party as he’s in the shower cubicle and appears drunk and says, exactly in the same tone and quote from the video game Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death. Grunt says “I AM THE LAW!!”. The quote is attributed to Judge Dredd but isn’t listed as an Easter Egg on official fansites or anything.
has me fucking dead everytime 😂
Personally, I couldn't see any of my Shepards bringing an alien companion. Paragon not wanting their friends hurt, renegade not wanting to risk an asset.
I do it because of their skills.
So hear me out when I take Garrus it's because he's my bro and I trust that he is one tough mf and can survive anything. Probably not the most paragon logic but it's my logic
I’ve done it by accident and brought a few of them along, especially Garrus and Liara. Garrus’ reaction is often quoted in many areas as dialogue in the foreground (why do we not get to go anywhere nice?!).
I do it for the funny dialogue and the confidence that Mordin is as good as everyone thinks he is. Which he is.
@@warrenwoodhouse Excuse me, how did you bring Liara?
There's something particularly sadistic in taking a Drell already suffering from a terminal respiratory disease and then sending him into an area where he could catch *another* respiratory illness. Would you like some suffocation on top of your suffocation, Thane?
Messed up, but you reminded me of a line from Tales from the Borderlands I adored, as a sadistic megalomaniac phrased it: "If I were you, I woulda bought _____ a one-way ticket to Strangulation Town; with a brief stop at 'Makin-her-eyes-bug-out-all-weird' Station. I mean, legally that's what you're supposed to do to traitors! I wrote it into the bylaws :)"
Jesus
“Yo, I heard you like suffocation, so I got some suffocation for your suffocation!”
@@Dementia_Springtrap So you can choke while you choke!
It would be a good prank if you bring thane, he dies and you get a critical mission failure
I love how Mordin is all business, and proceeds to apply treatment on your companions before even introducing himself.
ig in a universe where protective equipment allowing one to survive in the vacuum of space is common place nobody thought to use such equipment to protect from respiratory diseases except for tali
How you bother to wear that heavy shit every day? Folk complain about mask. Hell if you wear glasses all day you can fell the relief of taking them off and the weight almost nothing in comparison.
@Notmyday2009 They were literally given a heads-up that they were about to enter a plaige zone that contains a dangerous and contagious disease that affects almost all species of alien. I'd think if anyone that went in there had any kind of discipline and access to a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus, surely they would use it to prevent themselves from contracting the very deadly respiratory illness. Btw, I was referring to shepherd's squadmates and not the locals. They are only expecting to be there for a relatively short time. I'm sure they could've beared to wear it until they got back out of the quarantine zone.
@@John-PotaszSquad: We need suits to enter a plague zone.
BioWare Limited Resources and Assets: No
Squad: *cough*
@lordofgingers Said assets exist tho, there's a part of the game you go into a literal vacuum. They all can be seen wearing ppe during that one mission.
@@John-Potasz true, but would they need a fully enclosed suit or is a face mask sufficient
Like how tali doesn’t get sick despite having the weakest immune system
Those suits are great
The suits no joke
If there's one thing quarians know it's disease prevention.
Question: How was Tali there if you get her after getting Mordin? That part didn't make sense to me, and you can't go back to the quarantine zone after getting him.
Plot twist: she is actually immune to this particular pathogen.
Taking the drell with an already existing respiratory condition should net you like 600 renegate points.
"You don't have a grenade launcher on your back, lady. Get lost."
Gotta love that line. 😂
Edit: spelling
Missed an opportunity to have an M-920 Cain equipped just for that scene.
👏 yeah one of my favourite lines from the series 👌
And you butchered it. xD
@@zairman that was auto correct.
2:25 I love Tali’s sarcastic reaction. 🤣🤣
I like the renegade option
"Take a good long look at me. Do i look like a looter?"
"Uh...no?"
I like when Mordin is curing the mates everyone is like “oh ok I’m glowing that’s fine”
And grunt almost freaks out
Guess the distrust of Salarians is doing its work lmao
guess you figured out a way to sort the unique dialogues. Great!

It is interesting there is a voice line for some of these characters cause I'm pretty sure you have to get Mordin to advance to the second half of the game
I believe it had to do with the fact that the original console games came on two separate discs, which meant certain characters (like legion) who would have initially been available earlier were locked instead.
@@epic2owls The PS3 version only came on one disc. I own it. PS3 used Blu-Rays so they could store more data on an individual disc than Xbox could on its CDs.
@@epic2owls The explanation is that the game was originally planned to let you recruit anyone in any order, but the devs ran into issues handling that many contingencies on the console versions so they instead limited it to recruiting certain characters in phases across all ports of the game. All of the unused lines are still in the PC version and can be access with some save editing.
I really appreciate the descriptions you provide under each video
Interesting there wasnt anything for Mordin to say about the Geth walking in lol, I never got him before Mordin
That's because you can't unless you use a save editor or mods to get him early.
@@spheromancer_ aaah ok
Love legions reaction as if a machine could ever get a disease when was the last time your car had the flu
I always take Garrus on this mission, he's fine. 😅 the dialogue is funny and there's no shepard without vakarian 😂
Samee. I didn't save his ass from the mercs just so he could stay behind
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great share.
Loooove the Krogan respone..
He NEVER givs a muck about anything...
If its dangerous?
He's IN..
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just discovered something interesting! Apparently, if you bring squamates who are vulnerable, they both get infected and some will even have slightly unique lines of dialogue.
Interesting, I didn't even think of that, I'll definitely have to look into it!
@@EmilyOnGames If it helps, where I discovered this was on a video called "Grunt and Garrus Almost Die When Recruiting Mordin" by AMHarbinger.
i didn't know if they would be affected long term so i didn'r risk it.. i took Zaaed and Miranda... Even knowing that mordin will cure them i was playing my paragon rol and i wouldn't take them anyways... btw the should have made that the plague affect your companion and kill it... for taking bad decisions 😂
Taking in thane who is already dying of respiratory illness and tali whose people have dangerously weak immune systems both seem to be particularly bad ideas both from a tactical and ethical standpoint
Could they not put on their helmets and set it to internal oxygen supply to avoid the ick?
Console users after seeing this video
Confused unga bunga 🤯
No, I was aware of these for a long time...am jealous, though.
Why??
I never get to experience this kind of stuff since I always listen to The Illusive Man and Miranda and I think maybe EDI on who to recruit first. They recommend recruiting Mordin first so that’s what I always do. Plus I worry too much because of the Horizon mission. You don’t recruit Mordin immediately, and the Horizon mission becomes very difficult since he won’t be able to have enough time to create a counter to the collector bugs, or a strong enough one. Recruiting him immediately will allow him to create the counter in time and successfully. I always recruit Mordin first and then change up the order of everyone else, although I never save Garrus, Jack, and Grunt for after Horizon. I try to recruit everyone immediately. Then I do everything else. But with how I play, I never get to experience bringing others along on the Mordin recruit mission. And I never like to do “what if” or experimental playthroughs. I’m always trying to do the “best” playthrough.
Recruiting him later doesn’t affect gameplay, and I always went for Archangel, since they say he’s under fire as soon as you get to Omega. Mordin’s location is known but the risk to his life isn’t immediate.
To each their own though.
@@Ledecral I always get Garrus first because I don't want to save the galaxy without my boyfriend. Then I have to leave behind to get one of my best buddies.
dam covid in Mass Effect 2
How does he get Thane, Samara and Tali
So... how do you get your other squad mates? Can you actually not go to Omega first, or did you have to cheat?
You can add any squadmate to your party by using a save editor or an early recruitment mod. Most squadmates have recorded dialogue lines for early game missions, even though their recruitment missions aren't available yet. I assume the original plan was to have us recruit them anytime we want, but it had to be changed later during development.
I thought krogan and vorcha were immune hence the blood pack presence.
It seems like the krogan were an afterthought
Nothing happens except different dialog bc i brung garrus an just dialog bc mordin gave him a cure lol
The fact that it's possible to bring Legion before getting Mordin is brilliant. Love this game.
How is it possible to go into the plague zone with the second lot of characters
I used a save editor, alternatively, you can also install the Early Recruitment mod.
Its possible to bring legion there?
I honestly didn't even know that you can get the Horizon mission before recruiting Mordin, let alone get Legion. Or is it done with a mod?
I used a save editor for this, but there's also a mod out there for recruiting some of the squadmates early.
How would you get some of these guys before getting Mordin? I thought you had to get all of the companions before going into the next phases.
Also, respiratory disease wouldn’t really be an issue if these guys wore helmets lol.
Hacking.
You can get them through save editing or a mod which unlocks their recruitment missions early.
How did you get legion so early?
Through save editing.
Wait, how can you get Thane or Samara to join you on this mission?
Through save editing or an early recruitment mod.
It's a shame Bioware didn't enable recruiting anyone at anytime in the LE, since the dialogue *is* there in the files.
