Sakaguchi talks about if he would ever return to the FF Series or not and a massive Final Fantasy XIV rumor suggests the game could be coming to Mobile.

You guys are nuts. I do agree with you on how it'd widen the playerbase but unless the new Switch is showing some impressive specs, it'd be like taking a step back for FFXIV. The whole reason they stopped support for the PS3 is because it was holding back further improvments for the game. They literally just upped the requirements for Dawntrail.
I don't see them focusing on a console port with lackluster specs at this point.

And yeah, while I have no desire to play them, it's dumb to leave those games trapped on the 360.
I personally say please no to having XIV on mobile. Opening the gates to mobile will likely bring mobile monetization schemes to the game and I don’t want that. Not to mention the mobile market and player is usually quite different than the console or PC gamer. XIV was made for and needs to stay on PCs and consoles with a premium subscription model. I would love to see Sakaguchi work with XIV on a raid series though like Yoko Taro and others have.

I LOVED Lost Odyssey! That game needs a remaster and potentially a second part where we get to venture around their home world.
FFXVI on mobile sounds like an impossibility short of streaming, given that the game is so large. The mobile version of Genshin is closing in on 30gb, and that's already a stretch. How the entirety of FFXVI would fit on a smartphone is anyone's guess.

I know, but most people do not walk around with 1TB phones.
The current standard size which most devs on the industry try to hit for mobile are 2-4gb. When games are larger than that, it's usually with the expectation that the primary userbase won't be mobile, like with Genshin and Stair Rail.
As per today, the average Android smartphone is 95.7GB of internal storage compared to 140.9GB for iOS devices, for a joint average of 118 gb.
FFXVI might fit on a device like that that, but only by virtually eating up the majority of the phone's storage. The fact that there are a handful of people out there with 500+ gb of storage phones out there has literally zero bearing on whether this is a feasible market in which to port FFXIV to phones.

Wuk Lamat suffers from bad writing and too much screen time, and she takes front and center stage far more often than the WoL and she is bossing the scions and WoL the most. She is going to be the most annoying FF 14 character. I’m at the lvl 100 trial and I’m hoping this is the last we see of Wuk Lamat and maybe this is where OUR grand new adventure starts. You know the vacay we were promised. I never felt more scammed in my life. Luckily the dungeons are banger and the trials they just feel high quality. The MSQ is not the most forgettable that’s stormblood. This is the worst MSQ in my opinion. They are lucky the dungeons and trials we will replay are just banger.
Really like the idea about having Fantasian become the new ps1 jrpg spiritual successor. Especially if it takes on many worlds. Can we have a Fantasian Ivalice game then?

A shame he's still saying no to remasters of Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon.
Anything with tencent is just bad news.
Final Fantasy just isn't the same without a certain core team.
Sakaguchi being part of that.
Sakaguchi's own games, like Lost Odyssey and Fantasia, etc, have great stories but lack in execution, and have boring character designs.
Its when you add Nomura's character designs and Nojima's wild plot ideas into the mix, that it becomes FF.
Without Sakaguchi it's too weird and convoluted. Without Nomura it's boring and predictable. Without Nojima both those other guys would run wild.
And without Uematsu none of it sounds or feels right!
I feel the FF7 remake trilogy definitely was missing Sakaguchi's magic, can't wait to see his contribution

I created a square enix account last night and my user name was Bring Back Guchi. I’d like to take full credit if true. Square unfortunately isn’t structured like it used to be, I’m not sure even Sakaguchi could turn them around at this point.
I know this rumour is absolute rubbish because full FFXIV would be impossible to play on mobile without a controller. Even with a controller it would be impossible to see the AOE's and other mechanics required to stay alive. Not only is this rubbish but it's one of the most ridiculous things i have ever heard so I salute you for that at least.

Reason i bought a series x and used copies of lost odyssey and blue dragon so i could play them. But, its near impossible for a port/revival since microsoft owns the IPs
"owns" like how Sony "owns" FF7 by virtue of publishing the game for their system? or did Mistwalker actually give full ownership? considering that there are literally more Blue Dragon games on Nintendo than Xbox, I'd have to question that "ownership"
@@n1fffansony didnt publish ff7. They paid for the timed exclusivity if you are pertaining to the remake series. As for Blue Dragon I dont know the specifics, i know the og is funded and published by microsoft so they own that version of the game
@@fayte0618 I was talking about the original FF7 on the PS1, which I've heard numerous people over the years saying erroneously that Sony owned it simply because at the time it was the only console it was available for. I have still heard people in recent years try to use the exclusivity deal for FF7R as grounds to further prove the argument though
in terms of the 2 Blue Dragon DS games, Blue Dragon Plus wasn't even developed by mistwalker, but rather Brownie Brown and feelplus, which the latter is apparently a subsidiary of AQ Interactive, the publisher for that game in Japan
meanwhile, Awakened Shadows, the other Blue Dragon game on the DS, was developed by Mistwaker and tri-Crescendo, and published in Japan by Namco Bandai.
That being said though, even if Microsoft actually owns the IP, I would think at this point that it's safe to say never say never, but rather make it apparent to Microsoft that there is money to be had in releasing these games to Steam, since they have been releasing a lot of their IPs in the past couple years to other platforms

I'm kind of glad Sakaguchi isn't coming back to Final Fantasy. He's a great creator but, from my experience, "classic" creators coming back to something they made famous rarely does well. Part of it is the way the franchise evolved without them. Bringing back classic creators almost always feels like a step backward. And never in a goid way.
Yes. The only way it can work is to make what made us dream before evolve in a right way. (In what way ? I dont know).

Fantasian as a new continuing IP would be such a huge boon for us older Final Fantasy Fans... and considering its from The Father of FF himself... would be so poetic.
I want this so bad. Im beyond hyped for FANTASIAN Neo Dimension. It looks to be the game ive been wanting as a Final Fantasy fan since the PS1 era.
I’ve actually heard the final fantasy 15 inspired project, lost souls aside I think it was, is now only going to be on PS5 and not PS4 anymore. Kind of a shame in a way but makes sense to focus more on next gen overall.
Full FFXIV on mobile would be impossible, especially because of the controls as you mentioned.
That being said, I could see them doing something like a new companion app. Overhauling it to actually be useful, perhaps allowing you to gather and craft on the go. Maybe even interact with linkshells directly, or challenge NPCs to triple triad.
FFXIV on mobile? Frankly, that doesn’t even sound feasible, or enjoyable. I mean playing that game on a small mobile screen sounds just frustrating.
Not to mention the increased chances of people logging out in the middle of duty and less suitable wifi environments.
Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon would be a day 1 purchase. I'm still playing them and started Blue Dragon again in 2023 and it's still fantastic. Shame it isn't happening! lol
If he's a consumer, then what the hell is he even doing with his company? Is he retired? Apparently he has zero interest in remastering Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon which are his best games, left to rot on a platform nobody buys JRPGs on. Honestly.. I'm honeslty afraid at the thought that SqEnix might port FF14 to mobile or Switch 2. I don't need more of a reason to no-life that game.
And Terra Battle was actually supposed to get a console version way back when they were doing their initial "Download Starter" campaign (imagine a Kickstarter, but stretch goals were unlocked by the number of downloads the game got). It would really be nice to get a revamped version of Terra Battle on Switch 2 or Steam, but I think that possibility will be largely tied to the success of Fantasian's console release.
As for Lost Odyssey, I think you can still technically buy it digitally on modern Xbox consoles and run the physical disc as well, so it's not entirely locked to the 360. And since Microsoft owns the IP, the best we could really hope for is a PC port (unless they feel generous enough to allow it to be multi-platform). But even then, there's probably not enough money in it for them to bother with it.
Their choices in writing for ff14's latest expansion were terrible. Glad I didnt bother this time. Hopefully this doesnt turn in to a marvel situation where after endgame it all went down hill.

For the love of god if this rumour is true speak up to defend XIV from this mobile thing. Tencent is worse than modern Activision, EA and Bethesda combined, for the health and future of FFXIV i hope this isn't true. Learn from what happened to Diablo and "you guys don't have phones?" Based on the recent years, looking at what is currently happening not only around SE but generally in the gaming industry, I have long speculated that Final Fantasy will transition to some extent to a live service model. Looking at this information and the rumors mentioned in your video further reinforces my analysis.
